Moshling Pets

The Moshling are not part of the higher-level monsters of the Moshi world, but rather occupy the position of pet and companion for Moshi Monsters.  Much like cats and dogs are for humans, Moshlings live in the home with their owners, where they are highly social.

Moshling are obtained in two ways: by planting the correct combination of seeds in a Moshi Garden to grow the Moshling bait plant, or by the player completing a Super Moshi Mission. 

-- Plant Method: The player must carefully tend to and grow the resultant Moshling plant to full maturity, upon which point the Moshling plant gets its colour, which in turn determines what Moshling it will attract as the Moshling types are attracted to specific colour plants!

After the plant is grown, the Moshling is attracted, and captured, the player may choose to keep it, or to set it free if it is a type that they do not want.   When a Moshling is captured the player is provided with a basic description of it prior to making the decision as to whether to keep it or set it free.

Super Moshis - Monstro City Needs YOU

-- The Mission Method: To capture a Moshling using this method the player must complete a Super Moshi Mission, a special mission that comes in several variates and that involve the player solving a mystery or a challenge in the game.  

While Basic-Level Members may obtain a standard Moshling through the Plant Method, only Paid-Members can utilize the Mission Method, as it requires that their Moshi be a "Super Moshi" which is a part of the premium content that is available only to subscribers.

Using the Mission Method, Paid-Members may obtain one of the rarer special Moshling by succeeding in completing their mission.   Presently the Mission Method is the only way to obtain some of the rarer types of Moshling in the game, making ownership of these Moshling something of a status symbol in the game.

-- Basic vs. Paid Membership and the Moshling --

In addition to the optional Mission Method that is available to Paid Members, there are other issues that relate to the membership type and Moshlings in the game, most notably the exclusive Moshlings obtained only by Paid Members, and the number of Moshling a member can possess.

A Basic Member may only have two Moshlings in their room and any time -- if they want additional pet Moshlings or they desire to own different ones and they already have two, they must dispose of one of their Moshling before they will be permitted to capture a new one, regardless of Moshling type.

Paid Members can keep up to six Moshlings in their room at any one time, but in addition to the six Moshling that they retain in their home as pets, they are also permitted to keep others they find, capture, or are rewarded with in their Moshling Zoo space! 

Potential Moshling owners who are Paid Members should be on notice that if their membership should lapse at any time, two Moshling pets will be randomly chosen by the server to remain in their home; the player has no influence on which.  The missing Moshling are not lost or deleted however, and once the membership is renewed they are returned to the home.
