URGENT: Trial of the Sea Dragon

Hunting Quest: Repel a Lagiacrus
Unlocked: Complete “Lost in Blue” and “Leader of the Icepack.”

Reward: 2100z
Contract: 200z

Time: 50 min.
Area: Deserted Island

Gird your loins -- you're about to take on the terrifying Lagiacrus. This quest will surely test all of skills you've acquired thus far. Then again, maybe not. You just need to chase the Lagiacrus away, and fortunately he's a real pushover on land.

On land, Lagiacrus is slow and easy to read, so it's easy to evade most of his attacks. As such, consider leaving the Lance at home and opting for a Great Sword, Hammer, Long Sword,  or Switch Axe instead. There is little need to block while facing Lagiacrus out of water, so not being able to roll or step out of the way would likely just slow you down.

Lagiacrus: he's big and scary, but happens to be a pushover on land.

The following weapon recommendations assume you have been playing strictly offline and thus have access only to certain materials. For a Great Sword, the Cataclysm Sword (Ludroth Bone Sword path) is a good choice. The Cataclysm Sword boasts considerable damage and sharpness and its materials are easy to gather. If you're bringing a Hammer, go with the Plume Flint because it deals fire damage, which Lagiacrus is weak against. The best Switch Axe you can craft at this point is the Assault Axe (plus), which unfortunately carries with it a 20 per cent chance of dealing less damage than it normally would with each strike. As for a Long Sword, the Anata Boneblade is the only Long Sword you can craft with the materials available to you at this point. All things considered, your best bet is to choose either the Cataclysm Sword or the Plume Flint.

Although Lagiacrus is slow, he does hit hard. So, as always, make sure you have healing items in your inventory before setting out. Once in the quest, remove the Map, First-aid Meds, Rations and EZ Flashbombs from the Supply Box and then make your way to Area 5.

Sprint to the Lagiacrus as soon as you spot him in Area 5 and get a few hits in before he realizes what's happening. If you're using a cutting weapon such as the Great Sword or Long Sword, focus your attacks on Lagiacrus's head, neck and chest. You can also cut the end of the Lagiacrus's tail with a bit of effort. If you're using a Hammer or Lance, aim for Lagiacrus's head, neck, torso and tail.

Lagiacrus's on-land move set is thoroughly underwhelming. If you're adept at evading these attacks, much of your lost health during this quest will likely result from being hit by Lagiacrus's legs as he squirms around. Stick close to Lagiacrus and you can avoid most of his attacks with a couple of rolls or steps.

When the Lagiacrus takes a step back and momentarily hunches over on his hind legs, he will then slide forward. You most won't take any damage from this attack unless you are directly in front of him or near is front legs. Lagiacrus's bite attack is similarly easy to avoid because he simply lunges forward.

Damage Lagiacrus enough to make him flee.

Lagiacrus's tail whip is similar to the Royal Ludroth's, albeit more deadly because the former is considerably larger. Lagiacrus first performs a wide bite to one side and then whips his tail back behind him soon after. Roll toward his head to avoid being whipped his tail. Cutting Lagiacrus's tail will significantly reduce the effectiveness of this attack, making it much easier to dodge.

The Lagiacrus has one on-land projectile attack, but it's nothing to worry about. When he rears his head back and energy forms in his mouth, he will then spit a lightning projectile a few paces directly in front of him. This attack is easy to see coming and has plenty of charge-up time, so it shouldn't be an issue. Simply sprint away or roll to the side to avoid being hit.

Continue chipping away at the Lagiacrus's health and he will eventually move into Area 9. Sharpen your weapon and use a health item if necessary before following him there. Facing Lagiacrus in Area 9 is a bit more of a challenge because there isn't much space to move around. Keep at it and he'll soon move into Area 10. Continue battling Lagiacrus in Area 10 and he will soon retreat.

I honestly really dont like lances now that ive played a while, they have limited mobility and it takes a longer amount of time to make the kill or repel, lances are defense weapons i learned how to play useing them until i used long swords and those are by far my favorite, moderately powerful and very agile and a wide range and reach makes it easy to land hits especially when your spirit gauge is filled plus they usually have a high elemental power so finding the right sword makes it even easier. As for armor use what you got the key to the lagi is evading him stay off to the side not in front of him watch for clues to his attacks and stay out of his way

Recommended Armor? Btw I'm a Lance, Longswrd and Gr8swrd user but i prefer to use Lance. What is the best lance i shud use? I know Lagia's moves like the back of my hand, Played for almost 2 years with my other character, but i started a new one due to the fact that i havent played mhtri for almost a month.

So what recommended armor and lance shud i take?

I noticed that when taking this bad boy on the suggested, slower, weapons had the downside of getting you hit **alot**. I switched to SnS and kicked his electroscale ass. I died once in area 11 when he went rage mode, but that was about it. If you can get your hands on a fire SnS via quests online, do it.

I don't understand how so many people are saying it was easy !
He was in area 5 for a few seconds.
Is fairly quick on land may i add, and all his attacks have a lot of reach so evading isn't quite as easy as you make it sound.

When he goes in the water its a completely different story !
It's a crazy hard mission.

I'm beginning to think i've got a "solid" game ghost, because i'll watch/read walkthroughs and comments and they're never as easy as potrayed.
