Hunting Quest: Hunt a Rathalos
Unlock: Complete “A Bard's Tale,” “The Wrath of Rathalos” and the “One Chance” Villager Request.

This quest takes place in an unstable environment. This means you could encounter another boss monster while battling Rathalos – in this case, most likely Rathian! Be careful if you find yourself in an area with these two monsters and don't hesitate to step out and wait for Rathalos or Rathian to move to another zone. If you have Cha-Cha equipped with his Fluffy Mask, you can sit outside the area and give Cha-Cha the signal (by pressing the Select button to bring up the Hunter menu and then pressing the Start button) to monitor the positions of the two wyverns on the map.

Like Rathian in her Deserted Island quest, Rathalos will fly straight to Area 5 at the start, so make your way there after leaving camp and wait for him to appear.

The only reason this is a difficult quest is because once you damage Rathalos enough, a Rathian joins him, Hubby and wife work really well together. My advice is to boost your armor set with Wind Res and Earplug Skill to stop the effects of their roars and gust attacks when they fly. Armor with a high Fire Res is great. walk with your standard gear, Mega Potions and all that. FLASH BOMBS ARE IMPORTANT! Make em by combining Flashbugs with Bomb Casings. make Bomb Casings by combining stones or iron ore with sap plants. also walk with one Shock Trap and one Pitfall Trap. Flash Bomb the Rathalos as he is hovering in the air. MAKE SURE THE BOMB EXPLODES WHERE HE IS FACING. He'll come crashing down, that's your chance to really get some blows on him. :D Once u nail the flash bomb tactic you can kill him easy. Make sure you have a weapon with Water Damage like R. Ludroth Claw or anything that has a high Green sharpness and a nice high attack. I use the Lagiacrus Blade with Ingot Armor. Keep attacking his head when he's down to damage him quicker. When the Rathian joins in(Querepco can also come in too) if you flash bomb them both you can use the time to focus attacks on Rathalos and not her. Don't get greedy and attack his head too much when he isn't stunned, you'll be trampled by his Charge Attack or his Rising Fireball attack. Where does it spawn?
It's weak point is it's head and it only has one tail attack, so the tail is the best place to go until it is tired. Hit the head once it weakens and starts limping/tripping.
