Followers
There are 8 followers in total, and this section goes over each one of them.
Note: These 8 Followers automatically regenerate their health outside battle. That means you only have to be careful during fights themselves; Once the battle is over they'll be healed by the game.
1. Butch
========
[KARMA: NEUTRAL]
Yes, bullyhead Butch can become a follower, that is if you lived through his painstakingly annoying conversations and actions during your youthful adventure.
Finish the Misc. Quest: Trouble on the Homefront and make sure that the Overseer has been killed or has stepped down, or sabotaged the Vault in its entirety. Look for Butch at the Muddy Rudder Bar at Rivet City.
o Karma does not matter when Butch has already joined.
2. Fawkes

[KARMA: GOOD]
You meet Fawkes during your main quest when exploring Vault 87. She won't immediately join you, but you can easily recruit him when you get out of Raven Rock. Oh, Fawkes is a woman, by the way. Or at least, she was. Now she's a Super Mutant, and those don't really have a gender either way.
Note: When Fawkes joins for the first time he doesn't seem to take a follower spot. This means you can already have a follower (or even have assembled a small party) before you recruit Fawkes at Raven Rock. Simply avoid her the first time when you get out - and recruit her later - to get the best result.
o Karma does not matter when Fawkes has already joined.
3. Sergeant RL-3
================
[KARMA: NEUTRAL]
You can buy Sergeant RL-3 from a merchant who sells robots. He's named Mr. Tinker and he can be found nearby or around the RobCo Factory. It's a somewhat random encounter, so you may need to use the wait function for him to appear.
o Karma does not matter if Sergeant RL-3 has already joined.
4. Jericho
==========
[KARMA: BAD]
Jericho can be found in Megaton. If you have negative karma and willing to pay him 1000 caps for supplies, he's very willing to accompany you to where ever it is you want to go.
o Karma does not matter if Jericho has already joined.
5. Star Paladin Cross
=====================
[KARMA: GOOD]
You can recruit this Brotherhood Lady in the Citadel, in the same room with Liberty Prime (the large robot). She's on the upper floor and only joins you if your Karma is positive.
o Karma *does* matter if Star Paladin Cross has already joined. Keep your Karma positive or she will leave you.
6. Charon
=========
[KARMA: NO REQUIREMENT]
This ghoul can be found in Underworld at The Ninth Circle. You can buy his contract from Ahzrukal for 2000 caps (or 1000 with Barter at 50 ). It's also possible to get his contract by killing Greta at Carol's Place.
o Karma does not matter if Charon has already joined.
7. Dogmeat
==========
[KARMA: NO REQUIREMENT]
This lonely dog can be found fighting off raiders in the Scrapyard. Talk to him and he'll be a follower from here on. It doesn't seem like Dogmeat takes up a follower spot, which is a good thing.
o Karma does not matter if Dogmeat has already joined.
8. Clover
=========
[KARMA: VERY EVIL]
She can be bought off Eulogy in Paradise Falls for 1000 Caps (or 500 with enough Barter skill).
o Karma does not matter if Clover has already joined.
If you have very evil karma RL-3 won't follow you.
Whats the glitch to get 4 followerers, the game tells me i can only have one follower at a time

heres also some cheat with dogmeat. Get the puppies perk, than kill him. He drops new dogmeat. However, he also opens a new follower spot every time he dies. Btw, if u were to recruit all eight, you would have to do evils first

I thought trouble on homefront was part of the main storyline and has to be done to start main quest and storyline before you can even get to do vault 87 raven rock
Some times playing this adventure is special it should give the felling of excitement do not fast travel all the time take your time you are the game remember that and feel you inside and enjoy
I killed them all well not all butch died near oaisis but fawkes charon etc all got a gattling laser to the face
i know a glitch to get 4 at a time oh and fawkes and charon together are beast
Fawkes is not a girl, if you really dig deep into the vault you will find his audio logs. The whole thing with him being a girl was that the occupant before him was a girl.
I love dogmeat, you can say him to find ammo, a weapon, chems or food and he will run to it and bring it to you. :D
Guys this is so funny ik this fallout 3website but on new vagas I found a cool glitch first go to heliose one and talk to th scientist without the glasses oh and yeah u must have th batchler perk talk to him make him tell u about the solar wepon achades or somthing and overload th system the the turn it on then tell him u overloaded it the u get 360xp then keep telling him and u get 360xp again and again u also get 2 doctors bags and 3 stimpacks each time lol I'm maxed out and be careful u have to kill robots I sugest u go get pulse gun from the silver rush in freeside
I like Clover alot, dogmeat died in the first actual fight i brought him to. I like clover with the Antagonizer outfit, I'm thinking about getting the Mechanist armor and putting it on Charon. I give followers all the super expensive items that i don't enjoy repairing, my Clover is actually better armored and armed than my own character, she needs it more than i do, i keep 100+ stimpacks at all times.

Puppies is a perk that you can get in case dog meat dies just wait for them at 101
