Gears 5: Hivebusters is a third-person shooter that is a campaign extension of Gears 5. This DLC is a series of single-player and co-op missions that provides an introduction to the members of Scorpio Squad, and how they found a way to fight back against the Swarm. Play as Lahni, Keegan and Mac - the heroes of Gears 5's Escape mode - on their first operation as part of the secretive Hivebuster program. Thrown together and dubbed 'Scorpio Squad', their suicide mission to destroy a Swarm hive may hold the key to saving Sera and their own redemption. To get the Supplies for the Effort Achievement in the Hivebuster DLC you need to play as Keegan and activate his Resupply ability 25 times. This can be done at any point of the Hivebuster DLC. The easiest way to do this is as soon as you activate it pause the game and reload the current checkpoint so you have the ultimate ready again. Simply do this a total of 25 times to get the achievement.

Whether it's the harsh cold of Act II or the sand storms of Act III, there are hazards that you can use to your advantage. These include firing a single ammo round to crack the ice at an enemy's feet to send them plunging into the icy depths below and a well aimed shot at a hardened sand column to send it crashing down on your enemies. Aside from the natural environment you should also keep an eye out for the many man-made traps you can use such as steam generators and explosive pipes and containers.

In Gears 5: Hivebusters you have 3 weapon slots: one for light one-handed weapons and two for heavier weapons that require your non-trigger hand for support. Make sure that you choose a mix of weapons that include long ranged ones with high accuracy and less accurate ones that pack a punch in close quarters. Having different types of weapons at your disposal will help you to survive longer as you will be better equipped to deal with more situations.

Ammunition for your weapons in Gears 5: Hivebusters is not easy to come by and it should only be used when necessary. Save your ammunition by performing melee kills with your knife whenever possible. Ex-humans and Juvies can be easily taken down with a single knife swipe.
