Tyrranos), and this is my first ever FAQ! The only reason I wanted to write this FAQ is because I actually had some trouble on some of the bosses, and I think a Boss FAQ for this game is needed. Hopefully, this guide will help you out on some of those bosses (you shouldn\'t really need all that help). This is the only site that I\'m hosting the guide on. NO ONE STEAL THE INFO IN THIS WITHOUT GIVING ME CREDIT! That\'s plagiarism, and that\'s a bad thing. Well, I think you\'ve had enough of me talking; lets just get to the FAQ! +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ II: Basic Controls and Info +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ CONTROLS I\'m hoping you already know the controls to the game, but I\'ll list them anyway. **Note: These controls are for Single Player Mode** Control Stick - Move (no brainer) Control Pad --- Switch between Links C-Stick ------- Change Formations (Up=Box, Left=Cross, Right=Wide, Down=Long) Start Button -- Pause (I would have never known?) A Button ------ Use Item, Swim B Button ------ Slash, Dive R Button ------ Roll, Pull, Pick up, Push L Button ------ Access Formation Window, Unite Links X Button ------ Switch Between Links Y Button ------ Unite Links Z Button ------ Turn GBA Screen On or Off FORMATIONS Formations really make the game fun. The different switches for the different formations really make the game unique and original. This is a nice touch to the multi-player theme. **Note: You cannot use the Box and Cross formations in multi-player mode** Wide (C-Stick-Right): Links line up in a horizontal line. Wide Formation + Arrows, fire rod, boomerang, etc = Very Good. Box (C-Stick-Up): Links go in a 2x2 Formation. Used mostly for pushing, pulling, or picking up large rocks. Long (C-Stick-Down): Links line up in a vertical line. It is similar to the Wide formation. This formation is also very good with arrows, fire rod, etc. Good for clearing out a room of enemies. Cross (C-Stick-Left): Links line up in a diamond-like position. This is used for triggering off switches. This is a good formation to use if you are surrounded by enemies. Also, the spin attack is awesome if you are in this formation. It\'s also very deadly. +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ III: Single Player Mode +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Ah yes, single-player mode. IMO, not as fun as multi-player mode, but still is fun if you have no one to play with. Single player mode also lets you use cross and box formation, and it\'s easier. I would prefer multi-player mode if you have some friends to play with, but if not, just stick to single player mode. Okay now; LET\'S GET ON TO THE BOSSES! SQUAD LEADER Area: Lake Hylia Difficulty: 4/10 Recommended Formation: None Yep, it\'s the chief and his lackeys. He is a good starting boss, for he is easy, but not too hard if you are still struggling on the controls. I only have one strategy, and that is to take out the soldiers first, and try to stay away from him. The soldiers run away from you, so try to corner them, and kill them. The green ones take an extra hit, so try to remember that. Once the soldiers are gone, take out the chief. You can\'t hurt him from the front, so take him out at his sides or from the back. When he pulls back his sword, WATCH OUT! That means he is going to charge at you. So step out of the way, and slash his sides or his back when he stops. Repeat that easy tactic, and he\'ll die soon enough. SHADOW LINK Area: Cave of No Return Difficulty: 2/10 Recommended Formation: None He shouldn\'t be considered a boss; I mean, he is just so easy! He guards your attacks a lot, so fire an arrow at him. He\'ll get stunned, and slash him. Repeat the process, and he will change the color of his clothes. You can only hurt him with the Link with the same color clothes as him. For example: if he turns blue, then you can only use the blue Link to hurt him. Attack him with the respective Link, and he will fall shortly. PHANTOM GANON Area: Hyrule Castle Difficulty: 5/10 Recommended Formation: Wide If you played Wind Waker, then you should know who this guy is. You should also know how to beat him. Yep, the same tactics apply to him as it did in Wind Waker. Easy, eh? Stay far away from him, because if you stay near him, he will slash you with his sword. Wait until he fires a green ball at you, and the hit it with your sword. He will hit it back, and you must hit it back to him again. If you miss and it hits a wall, the green ball will explode into more green balls. You can\'t deflect them, so just get out of the way! When you deflect it enough times, he will miss and the ball will hit Phantom Ganon. He\'ll fall, and that\'s your cue to run over and slash him. Force Gems will also fall out of him; so if you don\'t have enough, get them. After you slash him enough, he will get up. Repeat the process, and in about 3 rounds, he\'ll be down for the count. MANHANDLA Area: The Coast Difficulty: 1/10 Recommended Formation: None Wow, and I thought Shadow Link was easy! You shouldn\'t even get hurt in this battle. His only attack is that he slides around the room. You must use each Link to attack the appropriate color claw. (Ex: Red Link attacks the red claw). One hit and the claw will be destroyed. Do you want it any easier?!? Just remember to not attack a claw with the wrong color Link. If you do, all of the destroyed claws will regenerate. Still, the battle is probably the easiest in the game. SHADOW LINK Area: Village of the Blue Maiden Difficulty: 3/10 Recommended Formation: None Shadow Link is back again, and this time, he\'s not alone! There will be a couple more Shadow Links, and if you hit them a couple times, they will die and drop force gems. Use the same strategy as when you battled him the first time. Use arrows or bombs to stun him, and then attack. When he changes color, attack him with the appropriate Link. He will also go down fast. If you\'re sick of battling Shadow Link already, then you\'re in for a bad time. You will have to fight him numerous times in the game. STONE ARRGHUS Area: Eastern Temple Difficulty: 6/10 Recommended Formation: Wide/Long One of my favorite bosses: Stone Arrghus. If the name Arrghus sounds familiar, then it may be if you have played Link to the Past before. The same tactics apply here. Many rocks surround Stone Arrghus. When you first enter the battle, drop into the hole. There you will find a boomerang. Take it, and then return to the arena. He doesn\'t really have any attacks other than running into you. Get in wide or long formation and throw your boomerangs at him. You will each pull a rock from him. Slash the rock to destroy it. Keep doing that until you have destroyed all of the rocks. When they are all gone, Stone Arrghus will jump into the air and fall shortly after. Look for a shadow on the ground, and get away from it. When Stone Arrghus falls, he will send out a shockwave that will dizzy you if you\'re too close. He will then bounce off of the walls and slide around. Slash him to stun him, and then slash him until he jumps up again. Keep repeating the tactic until Stone Arrghus is no more. SQUAD LEADER Area: Death Mountain Foothills Difficulty: 5/10 Recommended Formation: Cross So, the chief wants some more? Then that\'s what we\'ll do. When you enter the arena, you\'re probably thinking: \"Is this guy crazy? He has less troops then before!\" Wrong. When you step forward, an army of soldiers will crash through the mountain and attack you. A lot more troops then before. Use the cross formation and spin attack to kill the troops, and remember to stay away from the leader. When the troops are killed, use the same advice I gave you when you fought him the first time. The only reason the difficulty is higher on this battle is because of the army. He\'s really a pushover. HELMAROC KING Area: Mountain Path Difficulty: 7/10 Recommended Formation: None You probably know who this big boy is, too. In the stage, there will be two huts across from each other. Go in a hut and grab the hammer. Then go outside, and wait until the bird swoops low to try to attack you. Grab a bomb, and when he flies near you, chuck it at him. It will explode on him, and he will crash into one of the huts. I recommend leaving one of the Links in one of the huts, so when the Helmaroc King flies into the hut, you\'ll be ready. When you get in the hut that the bird is in, use the hammer and pound his face. He\'ll pull his head out and continue to fly around. Repeat the process, and when you\'ve hit him in the head enough times, his mask will break off of his head. He will still fly around, but this time, when you throw a bomb at him, he will fall on the ground. Slash at him when he is writhing on the ground until he gets up. Keep doing this until you have killed him. Not that hard, but somewhat time-consuming. DODONGOS Area: Tower of Flames Difficulty: 3/10 Recommended Formation: None Another boss from the original Zelda, how fun! 3 dodongos, that\'s it? If you\'re a Zelda fan, you should know how to beat these guys by heart. But if not, well, that\'s why I\'m here. Now your swords wont even scratch the little guys. That\'s why you have to use something else. Why not bombs? The dodongos will roam around, and after a short time, they will stop and open their mouths. When that happens, drop a bomb RIGHT NEXT to their mouth. They will eat it, and the bomb will blow up in their stomach. Keep placing bombs in their mouths, and they\'ll be down for the count. I recommend focusing on one dodongo at a time so things don\'t get confusing. MASTER STALFOS Area: The Field Difficulty: 5/10 Recommended Formation: None This guy shouldn\'t give you that much trouble. He\'s kind of like the chief, but he\'s a skeleton. He has 2 servants. Take them out first. He roams the Dark World, but BEWARE, his attacks can still hurt you, even thought you are in separate worlds. After you kill his servants, and portal to the Dark World appears. His attack is the same as the squad leader. He rears back his sword, then charges. You can only attack his sides and back, so remember that. Use the same strategy as the chief, and this guy will be done for. JALHALLA Area: The Swamp Difficulty: 2/10 Recommended Formation: None Another easy boss! Just what I wanted! (Sarcasm) The room is totally dark when you enter. There are 4 star switches in the room, so split your Links up and have 3 of them step on any of the switches. That will increase the light in the room, and that will weaken Jalhalla. Have the remaining Link wait until Jalahlla goes in the light, and then attack him with your sword. He will release Poes, but don\'t worry about them. If they come near you, kill them, but don\'t chase the Poes down. Wait until Jalhalla goes into the light, then attack him again. It won\'t be long until he bites the dust. GIANT POE Area: Infiltration of Hyrule Castle Difficulty: 4/10 Recommended Formation: Wide/Long Another ghost boss, whoop-dee-doo. BORING! The fight is a little different than before, but it\'s similar in ways. Split up the Links again and light each torch. When the room is lit, the Giant Poe will appear. Slash him, and the big guy will eat you. Inside his stomach, you will find a green creature. The wide or long formation is good for cornering the little guy. Slash it, and after a few hits, the ghost will spit you out. Re-light the torches if they went out, and repeat the process. Slash Poe, get eaten, slash green dude. Keep doing it and the ghost will die. (Ghosts can\'t really die, but that\'s okay.) SHADOW LINK Area: Lost Woods Difficulty: 1/10 Recommended Formation: None This isn\'t really a boss battle at all. Shadow Link found some giant bombs, and you must escape into a hole before the bomb blows up and kills you. You\'ve seen this before, so it\'s nothing new to you. I\'ll make a map to show you which hole to go if you want to get out without exploring ######## Exit ########## ######## (4)######## (#) = Hole # ########### (3)# B = Bomb #(1) #### B #### # ########### # (2) (4) # # # ######################### Sorry for the suckiness, but hopefully it should help you. Go into the hole marked \"4\", and that will lead you to the other side and the exit. MASTER STALFOS Area: Kakariko Village Difficulty: 5/10 Recommended Formation: None It\'s one thing if you have to fight a boss over, but when he hasn\'t changed at all, that\'s stupid. Use the same exact strategy as you did to fight him the first time. Kill the lackeys, and you will get sucked into the Dark World. Dodge his charge, and attack his sides or back. He\'ll be finished in no time. PHANTOM GANON Area: Temple of Darkness Difficulty: 9/10 Recommended Formation: Wide Phantom Ganon is one tough cookie. Him and his clones... *shakes fist* It is almost the same tactic as the first encounter, but this time, he has clones. (3, to be exact) His clones shoot white balls. You can\'t deflect them! They will be destroyed and nothing will happen. You can hit them just to get them out of the way, though. The real Phantom Ganon will shoot green balls. Those are the ones to deflect. It\'s hard to deflect the green ones with the fake white balls flying around. Get in wide formation to make it easier. Continue to deflect until he is hit and the real phantom falls to his knees. Hack away at him until he gets back up. He also releases force gems like in the first battle, so if you need them, get \'em. The only reason I rated him high, is because IMO, it\'s very hard to deflect back the green ball with the white balls and the fakes trying to slash you. Don\'t worry, just try to focus on the real guy and keep deflecting and slashing. He\'ll fall in no time. MASTER STALFOS Area: Desert of Doubt Difficulty: 6/10 Recommended Formation: None *sigh* Why can\'t Vaati have someone else to guard the gems? You get to fight this punk again, and guess what? The same strategy applies! He hasn\'t changed one bit. He does have a couple more henchmen, though, but that\'s not a problem. I don\'t really need a section for this guy, and I really hope you know what to do by now. SHADOW LINK Area: Desert Temple Difficulty: 4/10 Recommended Formation: None Yep, you guessed it. Shadow Link is back again. Now there are 4 Shadow Links and a laser eye in the middle of the room. Not to mention 6 portals to the Dark World! Shadow Link is a coward, which means he is probably going to retreat into the Dark World. Dodge the laser eye and go into one of the portals. I would stay in the Dark World so you won\'t have as many problems. You won\'t have to dodge the lasers. If you need force gems, take out the Shadow Link clones. They will drop force gems. Take down the real guy until he changes colors, then attack with the respective Link. This is getting repetitive... BIG MOLDORM Area: Pyramid Difficulty: 8/10 Recommended Formation: None This guy is a toughie, mostly because of the stage. It\'s small, and there are no walls, which means if you get hit, you have a chance of falling in a hole. If you fall in a hole, don\'t worry. You will fall into another room. If you exit the room, you will end up in the boss stage again. To destroy the big Moldorm, you must slash its colored tail with the appropriate colored Link. (Ex. Purple Link attacks purple tail) I suggest to only control 1 Link at a time. It makes it much easier. When you\'ve hit him enough, he will split! Geez, now we have to deal with 2? Now it\'s going to be a little harder, but still apply the same strategy. They will each be destroyed when they\'ve had enough slashes. I would focus on one each until it dies. MASTER STALFOS Area: Frozen Hyrule Difficulty: 6/10 Recommended Formation: None Nope, I\'m not joking. You do indeed have to fight him again. He now has 10 soldiers, as opposed to 5 before. Still, c\'mon! It\'s pathetic that you have to fight this guy 4, and he hasn\'t changed. He isn\'t stronger, faster, anything! Sad, isn\'t it? Well, just take out the soldiers, and kill him. Attack his sides or his back. Let\'s just rid him for good. MACE SOLDIERS Area: Ice Temple Difficulty: 5/10 Recommended Formation: None These guys can be tough if you don\'t know how to fight them. But I think you\'ve fought these guys too many times, so you should take care of them. Instead of charging into battle, think about it. The Roc\'s Feather really helps in this battle. Use the Roc\'s Feather to jump above them, and when you are right above them, press B to slam your sword into them. Do that a couple times to take out a knight. Now there\'s only 1 to deal with. Kill the last knight just like the first one. Not bad, eh? FROSTARE Area: Tower of Winds Difficulty: 8/10 Recommended Formation: None (you can\'t use formations in this level) I think I will also provide a map, because there are some doors, and it\'s a big room. ############################ ### /______\\ ### ### ### /______\\ = Frostare ### ### (#) = Door #(4) (2)# || = Ladder ######## ######## #(3) || ### ######## ######## ||(1)### ############################ There is ice blocking door #1, so use the fire rod to melt it, and go inside. You will find Roc\'s Feathers. Take it, and go to door #4. Climb the ladder, and you will find a red creature inside. Slash it a couple times, and Frostare will detach itself from the ceiling. Now it will fly around and shoot pieces of ice at you. Attack the creature\'s eye. After you\'ve slashed it in the eye, Frostare will fall to the ground. Finish it off with the jumping stab attack. (Jump, then press B) GIANT DODONGO Area: Realm of the Heavens Difficulty: 4/10 Recommended Formation: None This isn\'t much different than the encounter with the dodongos in Tower of Flames. Destroy the small dodongos by putting the bombs in their mouths when they stop moving. When the small guys are killed, a big dodongo will come onto the stage. There are 4 treasure chests in the room; open one. It contains a level 2 bomb. Use those bombs to kill the giant dodongo. Only level 2 bombs will hurt it, so getting them is a must. Deal with him like you dealt with the smaller ones, and he\'ll bite the dust. SHADOW LINK Area: The Dark Cloud Difficulty: 4/10 Recommended Formation: None He\'s never gonna give up, is he? Well, now he\'s got a bunch of clones. Well, actually, he has unlimited clones. Yep, you heard me right. The clones are never ending. How do you beat a never-ending army? Well, Zelda is going to help you out in this battle. Once you\'ve killed enough Shadow Links, Zelda will seal the portal holding all the Shadow Links. Eliminate the rest of the shadows that are left on the field, and you\'ve won! No color changing? What a relief. Well, that was easy, wasn\'t it? VAATI Area: Palace of Winds Difficulty: 8/10 Recommended Formation: None The big boy himself, Vaati, is ready for a whooping. How are you going to beat someone that is in a tornado? With bombs, of course! Pick up a bomb flower, and wait until it turns red. At that moment, throw it into the tornado. It will get sucked up into Vaati and will explode. That will hurt Vaati. Keep hurting him with bombs until he falls to the ground. He will then surround himself in a ring of fire. Fall into the middle hole and jump into the cannon. Shoot yourself up, and while in the air, position yourself above Vaati. Press B to slam into Vaati with your sword. That will injure him, and he will fall into the lower floor. Fall into the hole and you will find Vaati in the basement. Shoot him with arrows until he re-surfaces. He will surround himself with the flames again, so repeat the process. He will soon be defeated. GANON Area: Tower of Winds Difficulty: 8/10 Recommended Formation: Wide What\'s a Zelda game without Ganon? Well, there were some good Zelda games without Ganon, but you get my point. He\'s a toughie, but you can manage. Ganon starts off with him teleporting. When he appears, slash him until he teleports again. He will also shoot lightning bolts at you, which will transport you to the Dark World. You must kill all of the enemies to get back. After you\'ve given him a helping of pain, (Wow, that line was terrible.....*gets shot*)he will start throwing his trident at you, which will create a trail of fire. Dodge the trident, and attack him until the trident comes back to him. Keep doing this until he changes again. A cut-scene will appear. Zelda will try to make a ball of energy and try to slay Ganon, but she has to power up. (DBZ, anyone?.....*gets shot again*) Get in wide formation and protect Zelda when Ganon shoot Green balls (Sound familiar?) at you and Zelda. Deflect the green balls at him while protecting Zelda. When you\'ve hit him enough times, he will fall down. Zelda will shoot the ball, and it will hover around Ganon. When the ball goes between Ganon and you, charge up and arrow and shoot the ball. It will hit Ganon, and he will fall in one hit. Yep, one hit. CONGRATULATIONS, YOU BEAT THE GAME! *brings out beer* PARTY!!!!! +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ IV: Multi-Player Mode +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Now this is where the game shines. Multi-player IMO is much better and more fun that single player. Some of the levels change, and some new tactics are required to defeat the bosses. (Most of the strategies are the same, though) **Note: This section only talks about 4-player mode, so don\'t get confused** BOSSES ARE COMING SOON! BE PATIENT PLEASE! +=+=+=+=+ V: Thanks +=+=+=+=+ I would like to thank: CJayC: For making an awesome site. GameFAQS: For being such an awesome site.
