Artifact Temple item taken too early, what to do now?

We went to Artifact Temple earlier in the game and took an item before we were supposed to. Now that we are back when we are supposed to be there, there is nothing, no item, there for us to take. Can this part be skipped since we took it early? Do we just move on to the next area? Please help us.

I did the same thing, but It's not big deal. Just keep moving on.
