Game Reviews for Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg

Quick Reviews

Eww...I think I'm gonna be sick...Added 1 Jul 2004, ID #2126
My expectations for this game were very high because it comes from the almighty ''Sonic Team.'' Three months ago, I played the demo and was let down. Now, I had the chance to play the final version in hopes of the developers improving the gameplay and that is simply not what happened. After playing for 2 hours, I've come to a conclusion; this game is going back.

Why? Maybe it has to do with the horrendous camera? Maybe it has to do with the dull characters? Or maybe, it has something to do with the linear and boring gameplay. Seriously, I've had more fun playing Bingo.

Graphics: 5/10
The graphics in this game are okay for GameCube standards; nothing spectacular though. Just bland colors and levels that look all alike.

Game Play: 2/10
I only bought this game because the commercial made it look awesome. And boy howdy, was I disappointed or what? The game is way to simple and seems like it was created for 6 year olds. The mechanics are a mix between a poor man's Super Monkey Ball and a really poor man's Sonic Adventure 2. The only redeeming factor is that you can turn off the game when ever you want.

Originality: 7/10

I have to give this game props in the originality category. You play as a little boy in a chicken costume. How creepy is that? Even though the levels are designed in a less than exciting fashion, I still have to praise Sega for their wackiness.

Sound: -4/10
AHHHHH!!! Worst. Music. Ever. I nearly threw a full wine bottle at my TV screen. If you thought Sonic Adventure had bad music, wait until you hear this games embarrassing excuse for a soundtrack. It sounds worse than Oprah chewing on a beef and cheese burrito. I don't know who they hired to do this game's soundtrack, but they should be shot.

Replay Value: 3/10
From what I played, this game does seem like it has some decent replayability. However, what you are replaying is not fun at all. Although it is good to have around if you want a good old knee slapper... Or perhaps you need a new case for a better game.

What more do I have to say about this game? Stay away, far away. If you have children under the age of 8, maybe they'll enjoy this, but I for one do not. My only suggestion to all the Sega fanboys out there is to stay away from this game or your view of Sega will be drastically lowered. I wouldn't feed this game to my dog

Final Score (not an average): 2/10
