4. Bosses
----------
A good Mario game would not be complete without some boss battles, right? Well
here is a look at the boss battles in Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance
2.

Iggy Koopa
Castle Location: Yoshi's Island
Difficulty: Easy

This is the first boss battle of the game, and quite possibly the easiest. All
you have to do is jump on his head repeatedly as the platform tilts, sending
him closer to the lava. Once the platform tilts the other way, he'll slide
back to the center safely. Jump over the ball that Iggy throws at you, then
continue to jump on his head until he falls off the platform and into the
lava.

Morton Koopa Jr.
Castle Location: Donut Plains
Difficulty: Easy

When the battle commenecs, walls will come down on both sides of the area and
Morton will come charging at you. Jump on his head to score a hit. Then get
out of the way as he charges for the wall. He will then walk up the wall and
then onto the ceiling. Once you pass underneath him, he'll fall to the ground
and cause a little quake, freezing your movement for a second or two. If you
are not going fast enough as you pass underneath Morton, he'll fall right on
top of you. Jump on Morton's head again. Dodge him as he falls from the
ceiling again, then jump on his head one more time to finish him off.

Lemmy Koopa
Castle Location: Vanilla Dome
Difficulty: Medium

Lemmy hides in one of seven pipes in his lair and pops out along with two
decoys. The goal here is to jump on head of the real Lemmy. Keep in mind that
Lemmy does not look like his two decoys, so stomp on the one that looks
different. What makes this process more difficult is the fact that a fireball
is constantly floating around the room, so make sure you avoid it as you try
to jump on Lemmy. Land three successful jumps on Lemmy's head and you win the
battle.

Ludwig von Koopa
Castle Location: Twin Bridges
Difficulty: Easy

At first, Ludwig will breathe multiple fireballs at you. Avoid them and jump
on his head. After that, Ludwig will commence is second attack by spinning at
you while hiding in his shell. Continually jump over his shell as it spins
after you, then get ready to jump on his head again once he somersaults out of
his spinning shell attack. You must jump on Ludwig's head three times to
emerge victorious.

Roy Koopa
Castle Location: Forest of Illusion
Difficulty: Medium

Roy's strategy is exactly like his brother Morton's: he will try to squash
you as he climbs up the walls and on the ceiling. And the method you must use
to defeat this boss hasn't changed either: three jumps on the head is all you
need to do to win. However, the fact that the walls continually close in as
the fight progresses means you only have a certain amount of time before you
get squished or you don't have enough room to avoid Roy. Finish off Roy as
quickly as you can to avoid both of these predicaments.

Wendy O. Koopa
Castle Location: Chocolate Island
Difficulty: Medium

Wendy is just like her brother Lemmy, right down to the pipes she hides in and
the decoys she brings along with her. Remember, jump on the one that looks
different from the other two, because that is Wendy. Also, there are now two
fireballs floating around the area, which makes jumping on Wendy AND avoiding
fireballs challenging. Score three jumps on Wendy's head and you win.

Larry Koopa
Castle Location: Valley of Bowser
Difficulty: Easy

This battle is just like the battle back in World One against Iggy. The only
difference here is the fact that three fireballs shoot up from lava below.
Jump over the balls Larry rolls at you, the repeatedly jump on his head as the
platform tilts toward the lava. When Larry ends up falling into the boiling
lava, you emerge triumphant and you are off to Bowser's Castle for the final
confrontation.

Bowser
Castle Location: Valley of Bowser
Difficulty: Hard

The final boss battle against Bowser is split up into three phases of combat.
When you beat Bowser in all three phases, you have beaten the game.

Round 1: When the battle starts, Bowser will fly around in his Koopa Clown
Copter. When he stops for a moment, he will throw two Mecha-Koopas onto the
ground below. Jump on one, pick it up, and throw it back up at Bowser. Throw
it at his head to score a hit. Do that a second time and Bowser flees. At this
point, fireballs descend from the sky. Position yourself between two of them
to avoid the rain of fire.

Round 2: When Bowser returns after Peach throws you a Mushroom, he will start
flying around in his Copter again. When he pauses this time, he'll turn the
Copter upside-down and dump a steel ball onto the ground. Jump over it as it
rolls toward you. After two steel balls are rolled at you, Bowser will toss
out two more Mecha-Koopas. Hit Bowser in the head with both of them and he
flee a second time. More fireballs will fall from the sky; make sure you avoid
them.

Round 3: This is it. If you win this round, Bowser is defeated! Peach throws
you another Mushroom, and then Bowser starts bouncing up and down on the
ground, trying to crush you. Run away from this assault and wait for Bowser to
chuck two more Mecha-Koopas over the side of his Copter. Pick these up and hit
Bowser with them both to successfully defeat Bowser. Congratulations!
