Find the Pokemon you want to get in the list, then save and activate the corresponding code. Then walk around and you should encounter that Pokemon in the wild.
Make sure you save your progress in the game before you activate the cheat, deactivate the code when you are done. The only save once you are happy with the outcome of the cheat.
If you are only interested in legendary Pokemon, then check out this cheat page which basically does the same thing just the list is a lot shorter as it only includes legendaries:
