Um sinse my dog is suicune, and it doesn't know roar, do I have to trap it to ensure it doesn't get away?

Yes, all you have to do is use a move like Block, Mean Look, etc.
It woud be even better if you had a Pokemon like Diglett that has the ability Arena trap, or a Wobbeffet(srry spelling xO) that has the ability Shadow Tag.

Well, it makes it a lot easier if you have a move such as Mean Look. This way it cannot flee, but on the downside this also makes it fairly hard to damage it. The best thing is to use a Wobbuffet with Shadow Tag.
