I'm pretty sure you can. If not, Trade to Ruby/Sapphire and then out to Emerald.
If you can't, you should be able to get a Wireless unit like the one you got with fire red from a pawnbrokers or on ebay cheap.

You need to beat the Pokemon League and get the Ruby and Sapphire and give it to Celio (the dude at the huge computer whose with Bill).

My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Sapphire for gameboy advance and my nextdoor neighbor has Pokemon Fire Red and we can only battle, not Trade. I have heard many rumors that both of us will have to beat our games to trade between Pokemon Sapphire and Pokemon Fire Red.I'm not to sure about Emerald though. I know that this subbmision is a bit late but I like to answer to questions like this.I hope that I helped you out a little!
