How do you beat Brock?

If you chose Squirtle or Bulbasaur, it should be pretty easy. But if you chose Charmander, which people tend to do, it'll be a little more difficult. My suggestion is to level up your Pokemon. However, you might want to try this.
Getting a Nidoran (it doesn't matter if it is a boy or girl) and leveling it up to level 9 would be good, since they learn Double Kick at that level, which is a Fighting Type move and is super effective against Rock Type, which is what Brock has. You could also simply trying evolving your Pokemon. Caterpie and Weedle Evolve into Metapod and Kakuna at level 7, and those evolve at level 10 into Butterfree and Beedrill. They aren't that strong, but it'll be a nice touch to fight a gym battle with evolved, and maybe fully evolved, Pokemon.
Above all, leveling up your Pokemon in general is what I would do.
