Well, I give him gold every day. I haven't become friends with him on my current game yet, but on others I have. Make sure you talk to him after giving him a gift as well.
Give him GOLD ORES a day. Talk to him once then leave. Go inside again and see if he tells you that you can sell things to him. You'll earn money more than Zack pays you for your shipments. He doesn't accept anything cheap. You can give him other things like necklaces. Good luck...
You can give him apple everyday if it's autumn. If it isn'y fall give him flour. Just talk ti him and give that to him.. GL!!
