Its all about strategy

Added:

Ok everyone, I've seriously been playing pokemon since the very first games came out, and I love every bit of it. But the one thing that really ticks me off is how people argue about which pokemon is the best to pick in the beginning of the game, and which one is the worst. What you all have to understand, is there is NO bad or weak pokemon. Every single one has its own strengths and weaknesses, you just have to know how to manipulate them. So you should pick the one that is most appealing to YOU, not just because some people say its good. Then you have to make a complementing team around it so that you as a trainer have as many options as possible.

For example, I always start off using Treecko, because i love grass pokemon and think that he looks really cool too. Yes, he is weak against Fire/Flying/Ice... etc. but he is also strong against other types like Water/Ground/Rock etc. Then the rest of my team consists of pokemon with other abilities so that i have good options going into ANY battle. This is my team now:

Sceptile L77 (Leaf Blade, Dragon Claw, Solarbeam, Aerial Ace)

Absol L74 (Shadow Ball, Razor Wind, Bite, Slash)

Salamence L75 (Dragon Claw, Dragonbreath, Fly, Aerial Ace)

Ninetales L72 (Flamethrower, Hyper Beam, Dig, Fire Spin)

Wailord L71 (Surf, Water Spout, Strength, Ice Beam)

Groudon L72 (Earthquake, Rock Smash, Slash, Fire Blast)

As you can see, everything is well balanced, with different types which all complement one another, and the levels are all close together, because i raise my pokemon equally. There is no "I" in Team, and the goal in pokemon is to have a good team, not just one or two power pokemon. So my advice to all of you new trainers thinking of which pokemon to pick, just pick the one you like the best, or think looks the coolest. Then make a complementing team around it.

P.S. You don't need your first pokemon to beat all the gym leaders. None of them have that good of an advantage. They all do great against the first gym leader anyway. (Treecko,Grovyle- Absorb Mudkip, Marshtomp- Water Gun, Combusken- Double Kick) Which is enough to get your feet wet before building your TEAM. Just work on learning what exactly are type advantages. That way you know what to use, and when to use it.

PP. SS. I'm ready to take anyone one, my team is awesome. Treecko Rocks!
