Game de Hakken! Tamagotchi 2 | Yes, I'm back after writing my walkthrough
-------------------------------* for the first Tamagotchi game for Game Boy.
FAQ by Dancinkayley | I can hear your distant groaning right now. And
Version 0.9 | now, I'm about to start my second walkthrough
[email protected] | ever, for the second Tamagotchi game. I believe
-------------------------* this game is better than the first. It may seem
harder at first, but once you get used to it...

Gosh, I'm rambling like I did in the intro of my first walkthrough. Better
get going on to the contents!

Version History
\_________________/

Version 1.0 (30/3/'07)- I've now got information on the favourite/lesat
favourite foods of Tentotchi and Kujiratchi. I've also added some more about
Mika-chu's room and the rock attacks.

Version 0.9 (23/2/'07)- Added information on some characters' favourite and
least favourite foods and information on Minotchi and Otototchi. And yes,
Minotchi is a Kodomo Bug on this game, unlike the keychain pet.

Version 0.8 (22/2/'07)- Started up this guide.

1. Welcome to the Tamagotchi World!
\_____________________________________/

When you start up the game, you will no longer have the Options menu. You
just have Continue and New Game. Obviously Continue won't work when you
first play.

You play as Mika-chu, Professor Banzo's lab assistant. You start in your
room.

This has a similar setup to Pokemon. I better explain everything first.

The controls are simple. Here they are:

Within the town:

+ Control Pad: Move
A button: Action (do stuff)
B button: Get out of a menu
Start and Select: Nothing

Tamagotchi care screen:

+ Control Pad: Highlight different options
A button: Select option
B button: Deselect option/nudge case
Start and Select: Nothing

Buildings
+ Mika-chu's Room
- Phone. Call the Professor for advice (like the first game's help feature
but in Japanese so even less useful)
- Clock. This adjusts time speed I believe.
- Aquariums. This is to access your Tamagotchi.
- Stereo. When you have an adult Tamagotchi, and win a contest, this is a
bonus feature. You get to choose a music and a sound effect to listen to,
and muck around with the volume.
- Mika-chu's Collection. This is at the very top left corner of the room. I
am not sure what this does.
- Diary. This is at Mika-chu's desk (you need to stand at the right, face
left and press A to access). Again not sure what this does.
+ Competition Room (just north of Mika-chu's house)
- Race
- Beauty
- Knowledge
+ Professor Banzo's Lab (west of Mika-chu's house)
- Talk to the professor. Dunno what he says though.
- Rocket ship. Deletes your Tamagotchi.
- Weird machine. Dunno what this does.
- Weird machine part 1 (on right) Puts your Tamagotchi in the machine.
- Weird machine part 2 (on left) Makes your Tamagotchi fizzle out. Odd.
+ Gardens
- Find Morino Tamagotchi eggs to hatch Babimotchi.
+ Rivers
- Find Umino Tamagotchi eggs to hatch Planktontchi.

Yep, that's all there is. I think the Weird Machine on the right in Professor
Banzo's lab is so you can have up to 9 Tamagotchi at once. Well, you CAN have
10 but to put one in/take one out you must have some space!

When you're done looking at all the buildings, go out and find a Tamagotchi
egg! Would you like an Umino Tamagotchi egg or a Morino Tamagotchi egg? They
have some differences.

If you want a Morino egg, there's plenty of grassy areas around where you can
find one! And if you want an Umino egg, there's the river down below.

Walk around a bit until Mika-chu displays the "!!" over her head. She will
then show the egg and you get to name it (in Japanese unfortunately). Unless
you know the Japanese alphabet... well unfortunately I can't explain the
whole thing. Bear in mind it adds "tchi" after your Tamagotchi's name.

You will then go to the aquarium your Tamagotchi lives in. The egg will hatch
soon. As in, VERY soon. Anyway, you now get to care for your Tamagotchi. So
away we go!

2. The Icons
\______________/

If you have already played the first game, all the icons should look very
familiar. I'll start by describing the bottom row icons because they will be
MUCH more useful to you.

*--------------*
Feeding Time
*--------------*

You have five food choices that is different depending on whether you have an
Umino or Morino Tamagotchi. You have three meals, two snacks.

Umino Tamagotchi:
Meals- Worm, Fish, Kebab
Snacks- Biscuit, Ice cream

Morino Tamagotchi:
Meals- Leaf, Apple, Acorn
Smacks- Biscuit, Honey (I think)

Each Tamagotchi has a favourite food. Some have a least favourite. I'm not
sure yet, but here's my list of favourite/least favourite food here so far.

FF means favourite food, WF means worst (least favourite) food.

UMINO TAMAGOTCHI

Planktontchi
FF: Worm
WF: Kebab

Kuragetchi
FF: Fish
WF: Worm

Otototchi
FF: Worm
WF: Fish

Kujiratchi
FF: Fish
WF: Kebab

MORINO TAMAGOTCHI

Babimotchi
FF: Leaf
WF: Acorn

Imotchi
FF: Apple
WF: Acorn

Minotchi
FF: Acorn
WF: Leaf

Tentotchi
FF: Leaf
WF: Apple

*------------*
Lights Out
*------------*

Even easier than the keychain version. Select and the lights go out straight
away, or on straight away! Do it when Tamagotchi goes to sleep, they like to
sleep in the dark.

*-----------*
Play Time
*-----------*

There are three games. The first is the Gokigen (happiness) game, the second
is the Study game and the third is the Sports game.

In the first game there are three rows of four boxes. You start in the top
row. Guess which box the heart is in then go onto the next row and guess
which box the heart is in then. You will go to the third row. Now, instead of
simply finding a heart you may find a skull instead. Your score gets added up
as follows:

Heart: +1
Skull: -1

Your score is how many more happiness hearts your Tamagotchi gets filled up.
My strategy is to press A twice (uncovering the second box in the first row
and the third box in the second row) and if I get no hearts in the first two
rows, I press B to exit and A to get in and try again.

In the Study game you need to help Tamagotchi solve the maths problem. Let it
pace back a few times (just don't press any buttons) then press left or right
(the direction of the right answer) when your Tamagotchi is closest to the
right answer. If you get 2 or 3 right, you win. This game comes in 3 levels,
like the Sport game (the third game).

In the Sports game you need to either pop bubbles or flowers. Your Tamagotchi
may move on its own but most of the time you can use your control pad to move
your Tamagotchi. You need to get 5/10 to beat level 1, 7/10 to beat level 2
and 9/10 to beat level 3.

The Study and Sports game raise the intelligence and body meters of your
Tamagotchi, respectively. (More on that later.) After you've filled the bar
for whatever game at level 1 until it won't go any higher, go play level 2.
And when your Tamagotchi doesn't get a stat raise, go play level 3. The bar
goes down a little after your Tamagotchi gets a good night's sleep.

*----------*
Medicine
*----------*

There are four illnesses in Tamagotchi. Each is denoted by a skull floating
above your Tamagotchi.

One is from forgetting to clean up after your Tamagotchi. This is called
nappy rash. Another is from feeding too many snacks, one mistake many make
with their Tamagotchi Connection keychain pet. This is called stomachache.
Finally, the flu is from total bad care. And the fourth??? Well, if you see
a rock above your Tamagotchi, press B before the rock hits your Tamagotchi or
else it shall become sick. I call this 'rock attack'.

Here is an incomplete cure list.

UMINO TAMAGOTCHI

Planktontchi
Stomachache: Bottle

As you can see, that really IS an incomplete cure list. Play around with
different medicines if your Tamagotchi ever gets sick.

*-------*
Flush
*-------*

Cleans up your Tamagotchi's waste. Simple.

*--------------*
Health Check
*--------------*

You can see the status of your Tamagotchi here.
Here's all of the meters and what they are for:

Hunger (how full your Tamagotchi is)
Happiness (how happy your Tamagotchi is)
IQ (intelligence of your Tamagotchi)
Body (strength of your Tamagotchi)
Discipline (the behaviour level of your Tamagotchi)

More meters than any keychain Tamagotchi I've seen!

*------------*
Discipline
*------------*

When Tamagotchi has the flashing smile above its picture at the top of the
screen and is pulling funny faces, this is which screen you go to!

Now, I'm not so good at this. I like my Tamagotchi Connexion because it's
easy to see what it needs. I suggest mainly using Scold when the time comes,
because it's usually what it needs!

*----------*
Mika-chu
*----------*

This is where you can return to Mika-chu's room to explore the world and find
more eggs or ring the professor.

And now for the top:

*-----*
Sun
*-----*

See whether it's morning, evening or night. You can't select it, just look at
it.

*-------*
Clock
*-------*

See what time it is virtually. You can speed this up using the clock in
Mika-chu's room.

*------*
Name
*------*

Self-explanatory. Your Tamagotchi's name.

*-------------------*
Tamagotchi Switch
*-------------------*

Switch between your Tamagotchi's home screens so you can care for each one.
Only if you have 2 Tamagotchi.

*-------------*
Rock Attack
*-------------*

Whenever you see your Tamagotchi sleeping and a rock is above it, press the B
button to nudge the case and get your Tamagotchi out of the way of the rock!
If the rock hits your Tamagotchi it will become sick!

3. Tamagotchi Characters
\__________________________/

Here's a list of the Tamagotchi characters. I will list them as I get them.
Thank you to some sites on the Internet on which I found this
Tamagotchi information.

UMINO TAMAGOTCHI

BABY FISHIE part 1

Planktontchi
He grew up with over ten thousand childhood friends and relatives, but
because of predators, he's all alone. Perhaps because of this, he has
become lonely with anguished eyes. He's very independent, and plans to leave
the Tamagotchi Ocean to search all the seas in the world for new friends.

BABY FISHIE part 2

Kuragetchi
He's always floating around, but not because he's lazy: he just hates
swimming! However, when he really feels like it, he's the fastest in the
ocean! (However, he can only swim up and down.) There's a false rumour going
around the Fish Tamagotchi crowd that the Kuragetchi has a poisonous sting.
As a result, Kuragetchi is surrounded by the Fish Tamagotchi who are afraid
of his "poison". (Kuragetchi just thinks he's popular.)

KODOMO FISHIE

Otototchi
He may not look impressive, but this Fish Tamagotchi is quite a character...
a bit of a Renaissance Fish in fact! Those things sticking out of his body
aren't fins, but arms. He works out his arms by doing push-ups but nobody
knows why... perhaps it's to taunt that jerk of a Black Bass by fly fishing,
or perhaps so he can someday achieve the honour of becoming the Tsukommi in
traditional Kansai-region Comedy? Another of his hobbies are looking for
treasure in sunken ships.

MORINO TAMAGOTCHI

BABY BUG part 1

Babymotchi
Babymotchi is a very small Morino Tamagotch. He lives anywhere in the ground
as long as it's not under a willow tree. He eats mainly leaves, and other
things with similar nutrients. It's rumoured that the swaying and rustling of
the willow trees and branches make him think of ghosts ans scare him, but no
one knows if this is true.

BABY BUG part 2

Imotchi
Imotchi is about the size of an Earth caterpillar or grub. He lives in
cabbage fields and loves to eat the hard part in the middle of cabbage. His
dream is to someday eat a piece of cabbage with mayonnaise on it.

KODOMO BUG

Minotchi
Minotchi is always covered in a cloak of twigs and leaves and lives on many
branched trees. It is the most fashion-conscious of the Bug Tamagotchi and
changes at least 5 times per day! (No, that's not evolving five times a day
unfortunately.)

Well thanks for reading this guide! It went a whole lot longer than I
expected. And another thing I should have said earlier... please don't copy
any part of this guide except for the checklist, unless I said you could.

Anyway, thank you for getting through yet ANOTHER FAQ from me. It must have
been a whole lotta torture reading this thing.

And... (bad news comin' up!) I hope to write another walkthrough!
