The game itself is a shorter version of the NES game. There are fewer levels and a few other differences but essentially the game plays the same. Being a short game, this is a very short guide and it hasn't taken me too long to write this FAQ. I have enjoyed it nonetheless at least it has killed a few hours and helped a few people out. This is the introduction. Hello. Below is the very-scant story. Then comes the controls section where I tell you what buttons to press. In the Basic Gameplay section there are a few hints and it just generally tells you how the game works. The items are also listed in that chapter. Next is the actual walkthrough. F e l i x T o k e n ��������������������������������������������� There are hundreds of Felix Tokens spread throughout the game. Collecting a certain number of these will produce certain effects. COLLECT 5: Every time you collect a number of these ending in 5 (15, 25, 35 etc.) you will be awarded with a Potion. This Potion will top up your Magic Level Hearts by 2. These are worth 500 points. COLLECT 10: Every time you collect a multiple of 10 (10, 20, 30 etc.) you will be given a Level Up Heart. COLLECT 100: If you collect 100 Tokens you will be awarded an Extra Life. L e v e l U p H e a r t ��������������������������������������������� This will increase your Magic Level by 1. This will appear when you collect a number of Felix Tokens that is a multiple of 10. P o t i o n ��������������������������������������������� This appears when you collect any number of Felix Tokens that end in 5. It will replenish your magic hearts by 2. This is worth 500 points. .===========================================================================. | SCORING | '===========================================================================' There are a number of ways to score points. - Collect an item. A Token is worth 20 points, a Potion is worth 500. - Defeat an enemy, the stronger the enemy, the higher the points. - Defeat a Boss for a huge bonus. - At the end of a round any hearts left over will add to your score. 1 heart is worth 200 points. - At the end of a round you will be awarded 20 points for every second you have left. If you lose all of your lives, you have the option of using up to 3 continues. If you do this you can carry on from the round that you died on, but your score will return to zero. .===========================================================================. | MAGIC LEVELS | '===========================================================================' Felix has a number of Magic Levels that he can reach to increase both his attack and his defence. These levels differ depending on which round you are on. To move up a level, you must obtain a Level Up Heart. Whilst you have a Magic Level, you will have a number of hearts in a Magic Meter on the bottom left of the screen. This will deplete the longer that you have a Magic Level. You can top this up using Potions. Should the meter be entirely depleted, you will move down a Magic Level. Avoid these like the plague. - Enemies. If you come into contact with any enemy or their weapon, you will lose a Magic Level or if you are at Level 1, you will lose a life. - Falling down gaps. This is instant death. No matter what Magic Level you are at. - Running out of time will kill Felix. .===========================================================================. | GENERAL HINTS AND TIPS | '===========================================================================' - As you make your way through the game, there are a number of Magic Bags. In these bags are usually Felix Tokens. Sometimes you will find another Magic Bag within. This is a shortcut, so use them as you wish. When you leave this area, you will find that all Felix Tokens are replaced. - Defeating a boss will result in the round being ended. - On flying rounds, if you touch a cloud shaped like Kitty, you will earn a bonus. - You do not have to kill every enemy that you come across. Sometimes it is easier and quicker to pass them by. - If you have a certain Magic Level (e.g. Level 3) at the end of a round, it will be carried over to the start of the next. - Taking a run up and holding A will make you jump higher. - There are a number of springs in the game. Probably the bit that you want. Before I start I give you a spoiler warning. Like this: This FAQ contains spoilers. Well sort of. There isn't really a plot for me to give away. Moving on... I have included the bosses of each round with the second round walkthrough. e.g. Poindexter is included in 1-2 rather than being listed under 1-B. This is mainly because there isn't enough information to warrant putting it under a separate chapter. .---------------------------------------------------------------------. //���������������������������������������������������������������������\\ // /�����������������������������������������������������������������\ \\ (( ( 7a) ROUND 1-1 [RO11] ) )) \\ \_________________________________________________________________/ // \\_____________________________________________________________________// '---------------------------------------------------------------------' ROUND TYPE: Normal ENEMIES: Chick, Woolly Monster, Turtle. Jump onto the platform directly in front of you. Here is a Felix Token. Drop to the ground and punch the Chick. Pick up the next two Tokens before killing the next Chick. At the top of the stairs are 2 more Tokens. Jump into the gap for another Token and then take out the Turtle. Jump over the tree stump and punch the next Chick. Make sure you jump right over the Chick when you do this. Trying to drop between it and the tree stump could prove fatal. Walk down the slope and collect the Token from the raised platform. There are another 4 Tokens as you cross the bridge (as well as a Chick). There is a Woolly Monster at the end of the bridge. Take it out in a single hit. Head down the steps, collecting a Token along the way. Kill the Turtle at the bottom. Keep moving to the right. Jump on the platform that is moving up and down. Obtain the Token here, then jump onto the platform to the left. Use the spring here to reach the higher platform. Up here, take out the Chick. Jump from this ledge to the 4 Tokens hanging in the air. You will land near a spring. If you look to the right there is a Chick beneath 4 blocks with ! on them. It isn't worth your time killing this enemy. If you walk on the blocks, they will fall. Either run across quickly or jump right over them. Jump over the tree stumps and pick up the Tokens on the way. Here there is another Chick beneath 4 ! blocks. There is a Woolly Monster walking around too. Avoid these by jumping on the platform above. From here collect the Token to the right, then leap onto the tree stump. Jump to the platform moving up and down to avoid the next set of ! blocks. From this platform you can reach a large tree stump. From this stump jump down to two smaller stumps. Collect 2 Tokens from around the moving platform. Now jump from this platform to a block with a spring sat on it. Use the spring to reach a Magic Bag. Press down to go inside. In here are 7 Tokens. Leave and collect the Tokens that will have reappeared. Head onwards, pick up the Token on the bridge and then kill the Chick on the other side. Take out the Woolly Monster and gain yet another Token. From here jump to a raised area where there are 2 Chicks and a couple of Tokens. Move down the steps on the other side of this platform. Collect the final Tokens and exit the round. .---------------------------------------------------------------------. //���������������������������������������������������������������������\\ // /�����������������������������������������������������������������\ \\ (( ( 7b) ROUND 1-2 [RO12] ) )) \\ \_________________________________________________________________/ // \\_____________________________________________________________________// '---------------------------------------------------------------------' ROUND TYPE: Normal ENEMIES: Bird, Chick, Flying Fish, Woolly Monster, Turtle. Move off of the bridge and kill the advancing Bird. Get onto the platform behind you and pick up the Token. Drop down to the floor and jump to a platform on the right. From here jump onto the platform moving from left to right. From here you can reach the next area of land. You can take out a couple of Chicks here and pick up another Token if you wish. Now shoot the Flying Fish that is block your path. Jump to the horizontally-moving platform and from here jump to the next area of land. Go up the ramp and take out the Chick. Collect the Token and head down the other side. At the bottom is a spring. Use it to reach a Magic Bag. In here is a load of Tokens. Exit and drop to the ground. Kill both the Chick and the Flying Fish on your way over the bridge. On the other side make your way down the steps and kill the Bird. At the bottom take out the Woolly Monster. Carry on and make your way up the slope. Kill the Chick and pick up the Token on the way if you wish. At the top of the hill kill the advancing Bird. Walk down two sets of stairs and they will crumble as you do so. Kill a Woolly Monster at the bottom of the second. Make your way over the next two sets and kill another Wooly Monster. Make your way over the two tree stumps. Collect the Tokens from around here. Kill the Turtle and then use the moving platform to get up the cliff. Up here kill the Flying Fish then jump to the moving platform. From here go to the next area of land and jump to the one after. Once you land, kill the Bird. Pick up the two Tokens before dropping into the Magic Bag. ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | BOSS: POINDEXTER | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | You will now be up against the first boss. It is a sort of Centipede-like | | creature. This is Poindexter. His main attack is to throw a boulder at | | you. In fact that is his only attack. There are 3 Tokens in this area and | | if they can improve your magical ability, collect them quickly. | | | | Stand on the platform in the centre of the screen. Wait for Poindexter to | | throw the boulder at you. He won't be able to throw it high enough, so | | you will be safe. The only time you need to beware is if he jumps whilst | | he is directly beneath you. After the boulder has been thrown, drop to | | the ground and attack Poindexter. This is the first round that you will need to fly through the air in. Fly to the right and follow the path laid out by the first 3 Tokens. Kill the Bird and the Sombrero Ball along the way if you wish. This isn't essential though. Before you reach the fourth Token there is a Cannon. Make sure you avoid it's fire and then take it out. There are 2 Tokens above and 2 Tokens below it. Get to the top of the screen and destroy the next Cannon. Pick up the Token next to it. Move under the two empty platforms. There is another Cannon and another Token here. Move to the right and take out the Bird, then collect the Token. Keep following the path of the Tokens until you reach the pyramid at the bottom of the screen. There are 2 Tokens beneath a platform here. Move to the top of the screen. Take out the Cannon after obtaining another 2 Tokens. Kill the Bird and pick up a single Token before entering the Magic Bag. In this bag are 12 Tokens. Exit the bag. At the bottom of the screen, below the Magic Bag is a Token sat on a platform. Move to the right, take out the Bird and gain a Token. Collect 2 Tokens and move over the pyramid. Destroy the Cannon here. There are 2 Tokens below this Cannon and 2 Tokens above. To the right is another Token, after which there is a Sombrero Ball. Take this out and move beneath it. There is a Cannon to deal with here, next to a Token. Move to the right and pass over the pyramid. Destroy the Cannon here. Below it you will discover 2 Tokens. On the opposite side of the platform is another Cannon. Destroy it and gain the 2 Tokens to the right. Collect one final Token before moving through the tunnel of the pyramid to end the round. .---------------------------------------------------------------------. //���������������������������������������������������������������������\\ // /�����������������������������������������������������������������\ \\ (( ( 7d) ROUND 2-2 [RO22] ) )) \\ \_________________________________________________________________/ // \\_____________________________________________________________________// '---------------------------------------------------------------------' ROUND TYPE: Normal ENEMIES: Bat, Sombrero Ball, Rock Bottom Face. Walk down the stairs and collect the Tokens. Kill the Sombrero Ball. Jump onto the moving platform and from here take out the Bat to the right. You can now reach the platform without being harmed. Drop to the next platform. Get onto the moving platform and leap to the stone pillar. Jump to the next pillar and take out the Rock Bottom head. Kill the Sombrero Ball then drop into the Magic Bag. There are 9 Tokens in this bag. Exit through the other Magic Bag at opposite end of the room. Use the moving platform and jump to the stone platform after it. Drop to the ground level. Take out any enemies and collect any Tokens. Halfway along here is a gap opening up the next floor. Head up here and go to the right. Jump over the gap and then move to the next floor. From here you can reach the top floor. Collect all the Tokens in the area and then move back to the right. Kill the Rock Bottom face here and use the spring to reach the top of the wall. Kill the Sombrero Ball and collect the 3 Tokens here. Head down the stairs and take out the next Sombrero Ball. Use the spring at the bottom to get onto the wall here. Take out the enemy here and drop down the stairs. At the bottom go into the Magic Bag. ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | BOSS: ROCK BOTTOM | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | You will now be up against the boss of this round. It is a dog on a pogo | | stick, carrying a gun. This is Rock Bottom. In this area there are 4 | | Tokens for you to make use of. The room itself has 2 raised ledges on | | either side and there is a small platform in the central area. | | | | Rock Bottom will pogo back and forth then shoot at you. All you need to | | do is avoid touching him and avoid the bullets. Simple. Jump onto one of | | the raised ledges. The one opposite to Rock Bottom preferably. Wait for | | him to move towards you and fire. As soon as he shoots, jump over his | | head and attack him once. Now jump to the opposite ledge and repeat this. | | After a few hits Rock Bottom will be defeated. Jump to the adjacent platform and collect a Token. Kill the Egg here. Drop down to the spring, collect the Token and shoot back up onto the log. Kill the next Egg whilst on here. Pick up a Token and then drop to the lower part of this platform. Take out another Egg here and collect a Token. Move to the right. Jump to the small platform and from here you can reach the next area of land. Take out the Bird here. Move over the log bridge, collecting Tokens and destroying the Egg along the way. Use the spring to reach the Magic Bag. In this bag is 10 Tokens. Collect them up and leave via the other bag at the opposite end of the room. After leaving the Magic Bag take out the Egg beneath you and collect the Tokens on either side. Move to the end of the platform. Jump as far as you can to the right, as to avoid a pitfall. Jump to the next platform, obtaining a Token along the way. Take out the nearby Bird. Use the spring to access Tokens that are high in the sky. Jump onto the horizontally-moving cloud. From here you can reach another cloud that is moving vertically. Jump to the close by platform. On here take out the Turtle and collect the Token. Leap towards the Token hanging in mid-air and you will land on a small platform. Take out the Bird to the right and get onto the land here. Use the cloud to reach the higher area. Up here take out the Egg that is walking on the log bridge. Pick up the Token and destroy the Bird. Take a run up and jump over the long gap. Make your way along the log. At the end jump onto the raised area and kill the Turtle that is walking on it. From here launch yourself onto the moving cloud and then on the area of land. Collect the two Tokens at the bottom of the screen. You can shoot the Egg if you want but I just ignore it. Make your way past the sets of vertical blocks that are barring your way and pick up the Tokens as you go. Next to the fourth Token is a Cannon. Take it out and move on. Shoot the horizontally firing Cannon on top of 3 blocks. Collect the 4 Tokens after it. Shoot the advancing Bird. Move underneath the 4 blocks and destroy the Cannon nearby. Move past and take out the Egg which is sat on one of two platforms. There are a few Tokens to be gained here. As you reach the next set of blocks, move downwards and take out the Cannon here. Drop to the bottom of the screen to get beneath the protruding ledge. Destroy the Cannon at the other side. There are 3 Tokens to acquire before you reach the next platforms. Now take out the Bird. Pick up the Token between two platforms and then move through the gap in the ledges. Collect the Token that is right in front of you, then drop the bottom of the screen where there is another. To the right is a Magic Bag. In the Magic Bag are 8 Tokens. Collect them and exit. Obtain the 2 Tokens to the right and then kill the close by Bird. Pick up any loose Tokens and then move to the top of the screen. There are 2 Cannons to be dealt with here. There are a further 3 Tokens to the right of this. There is a Cannon next to the bottom-most one. Move back to the top of the screen, take out the Egg and the Cannon here and collect the 2 Tokens. Pick up 2 more Tokens before you reach another Cannon on another platform. Destroy it and obtain the 4 Tokens above it. Watch out for the Spiky Fish after this. See the enemies section for information on how the defeat the Spiky Fish. Jump onto the island with the Parrot upon it. Kill it and collect 3 Tokens on your way back into the water. Kill the Bird and obtain 2 Tokens after this. Don't bother going onto the platform with the arrow on it. Next there is a Spiky Fish to deal with. Move over the platform and kill the Jumping Jellyfish. Collect 4 more Tokens before killing another Parrot on another island. Jump from the island as far as you can to the right. Hopefully you will land on 2 blocks. This way you will avoid landing on a Spiky Fish or Jumping Jellyfish. Use a spring to reach a Magic Bag. Inside the Magic Bag are 9 Tokens. Back outside drop to the water and take out the Jumping Jellyfish to the right. Move over the 4 blocks, killing a Jellyfish and a Spiky Fish straight after it. Use a spring on the next island to reach a bunch of Tokens. Pass to the right and kill the single Bird. Make your way past the groups of blocks. Jump over them if you can. If you can't jump into the air and splash down into the water. You will be deep enough to pass under them. There are a few Jellyfish and Spiky Fish to destroy on your way. Start the round and drop to the sea bed. Watch out for Crab on the bottom shooting bubbles upwards. Kill it. Move upwards and onwards. Pick up a Token and defeat a Jellyfish. Collect 4 Tokens from between the lines of blocks, but watch out for the Jellyfish. Move to the bottom of the screen, through the only passage. Kill the Jellyfish and the Crab here, then collect the nearby tokens. There is another Jellyfish and another Crab to kill here. Move downwards and collect a Token. Obtain 4 Tokens from the gaps between the stone areas. After this collect another Token and defeat the Crab which is close by. Move on and gain another Token. As soon as an area opens up above you, move up and collect 2 Tokens from here. Move on, take out a Jellyfish and above you there is a Magic Bag. In the bag are 12 Tokens. Exit the bag and move downwards. Make your way through the blocks until you have collected 5 Tokens. There will be a Jellyfish in front of you. Kill it and take the Token below it. Make your way to the right. Kill the Crab on the bottom. Collect a Token and move on to the next Crab. After you have dealt with that pick up the Token behind it. Now, move upwards, take out the Jellyfish and collect the Tokens near it. Move to the right. Obtain the Tokens before entering the Magic Bag. ,---------------------------------------------------------------------------. | BOSS: GULPO | |---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | You will now be up against the boss of this round- Gulpo. There are 4 | | Tokens in this area if you can make use of them. This is very similar to | | the Master Cylinder fight. This is the a side-scrolling round, so try and stay ahead. There are no Magic Levels past Level 1 in this round, so if you are hit once, you will be killed. You will then have to start the round again. Set off and shoot the Small Asteroid. There are Large Asteroids at the top and bottom of the screen. There are also Tokens, first at the bottom and then in the centre. Soon a UFO will fly at you. These can be tricksy so you need to shoot it down fast, before it takes you out. Now, watch out for the Small Asteroids and obtain the Token from the centre of the screen. It is hard to give an step-by-step account of what happens next. Basically you need to move from the top of the screen to the bottom, collecting any Tokens that you come across. Make sure you shoot down or avoid any Asteroids. Eventually you will come to another UFO. Same deal as before. Take him out quickly before he gets you. Continue forwards, as you have been doing, taking out UFOs and Asteroids, whilst moving top to bottom collecting any Tokens. Eventually you will reach a platform with an arrow on in. Jump onto the block in front of you and collect the Token. Shoot the Lava Ball jumping out of the gap. Leap over the gap and obtain the Token on the way. Take out the Octopus here. Jump onto the block and pick up the Token. Wait for the Moon Rock to pass beneath you, then drop to the ground. Move on and jump onto the moving platform. Gain the Token here. Get back onto the ground and kill the Octopus. Further on, there is a Moon Rock bouncing towards you. Wait until it drops down the ditch and jump over it. Pick up the Tokens on your way up the other side. Now jump along the rising platforms. Once you reach solid land again move to the right. Take out the Alien Egg here. Keep moving onwards until you reach a gap with a Lava Ball jumping from it. Take out the Lava Ball and then jump the gap. Kill the Octopus on the other side, then pick up the Token from above the platform. Shoot the Lava Ball at the next gap, then advance over it. As soon as you are here get onto the block. Collect the Token and then jump over the Moon Rock. Leap over the next gap and destroy the Alien Egg on the other side. Pick up the 2 Tokens and kill another Alien Egg. Gain another Token when you jump onto the next block. From here you can jump over the advancing Moon Rock. Jump over the gap and collect a further 2 Tokens. There is a Moon Rock on this area of land. Wait for it to drop down the ditch, then jump over it. Kill the Octopus after this and then obtain the next Token. Collect the Token next to the wall, then take out the Bat. Use the rising platform to gain access to the higher area. Up here to the left is another Token. Now head over to the right. Take out the Professor Head that is moving up and down the opposite wall. You are free to obtain the Token in front of him now. Slide down the slope. At the bottom take out the Bat and then go to the left. Kill the Octopus here and then collect the Token. Go back over to the right. Pick up the Token here before jumping on the 2 blocks. From here jump to the higher platform. Destroy the Octopus at the top and gather the 2 Tokens here. There is a Professor Head moving up and down the wall in front of you. Jump right over it and land on the moving platform. Take out the head from here. Pick up the Token and then jump to the moving platform. From here jump onto the floor, which is lined with pictures of the Professor and Rock Bottom. Leap onto the platform that is moving vertically. From here jump far to the right to land on the next block of stones. Destroy the Octopus here and pick up a Token. Jump to the moving platform and from here get to the highest path. On this higher ledge is a Token. Collect it and you can now drop directly to the lower path. Obtain a Token from here. Further to the right is a Professor Head. Take it out. Pick up a Token before using the spring to get to the higher level. From here jump to the line of 3 blocks. Shoot the Bat if you can reach it. Now jump to the sloped area. Collect the 2 Tokens from here then move on. Drop down the step and kill the Octopus. Use the moving platform to reach the next stone area. From here jump to a ledge shaped like a 'T'. Destroy the Octopus on here. Jump to the moving platform and obtain a Token. Then jump to the ledge on your right. Kill the Octopus here. Advance to the right and kill the Bat. Pick up the Token and move down the stairs.
