      INTRODUCTION
o---------------------o

Battletoads in Ragnarok's World is the Gameboy's adaption of the NES version of
Battletoads. The normal Battletoads for Gameboy is a totally different game and
there is only a minor difference for this version of Battletoads. That is the
fact it has 7 levels instead of 12 (or 13 if you count Armageddon/Dark Queen
fight as a level).

Level 1 - Ragnarok's Canyon

Begin by killing the two Psycho-Pigs and move right. A Walker appears. Destroy
it and you can use its leg for a weapon. Kill two more Psycho-pigs and a Walker
and fight your way to the right. If you want you can use one of the Dragons for
a ride. Knock it down and get on top of it. Kill the other Dragon then head to
the top of the screen and hop across the pit. Defeat all the Psycho-Pigs here
then hop off the cliff to the right and try to get the 1-up. Ahead is the first
boss, A giant Walker. You fight it from its point of view. Hide in the upper-
left and wait for it to shoot a rock, pick up the rock and toss it at the Giant
Walker. Unlike the NES version, you need four hits instead of three to defeat
it.

Level 2 - Wookie Hole

You are descending down a tunnel full of crows (Beaks) and Saturn Toadtraps.
No worries, just rely on your good ol' wrecking ball attack by hugging the wall
and pressing the jump button to swing and kill any enemy instantly. This is a
good level to rack up lots of 1-ups. Juggle any beak until the points reach up
to 10,000. The next hit will give you a 1-up. It's easier to do this when you
kill the first Long-billed Beak and get a sword from it. Speaking of those Long
billed beaks, you better kill them fast or they will cut your rope and you will
plummet to an instant death. There are two occassions when some Retro-Blasters
pop out from the background. Use a wrecking ball on them too. On two occassions
you have to swing through 3 electric obstacles. Near the end you have to swing
through five and that ends the level.

Level 3 - Turbo Tunnel

There are a lot of rats at the beginning of the level. To make short work of
them, use a running headbutt to pound them into the ground sooner then kick em'
to kingdom come. Hop over the pit. Life Invaders appear on the screen, kill em'
before they make off with your life blocks. Touch the life blocks taken to get
them back. Kill two more Rats. Much like the NES version, do not hold UP when
hopping over pits. You will fall through the floor and die. After you hop over
the next pit kill a Rat and hop another pit. Now its time to get on your air
jetski. Below is a pattern of what to expect. If you die, you start over from
the previous checkpoint.

Set 1: Starts at a slow pace. The walls are easy to avoid and see coming after
the seventh wall, prepare to jump over the low walls. Avoid a few more walls
then use two more jumps and get through three walls to reach the checkpoint.

Set 2: This set introduces the ramp, you must hit it to get over the pits. Like
I said before, don't hold UP when crossing pits or you'll fall right through
and die. The next part has a low wall then another ramp. Then two low walls and
a ramp. Next, you will go down, up, down, ramp. Then down, up, down, up, down,
up, ramp. The last part is this set is two low walls and a high wall which you
will stay grounded or you will crash into it.

Set 3: It's getting faster now. Move through two sets of four walls then jump
over three low walls and stay under the high wall. Now jump to hit the high
ramp and go sailing over the long pit. Rat missiles will appear and drop off
single low wall segments which you can move to avoid but jump over the low wall
that comes after the second Rat Missile. After four Rat Missiles, jump to hit
the high ramp then jump over the low wall. There will be a regular wall that is
off center on the rack so be careful avoid it.

Set 4: Hit three ramps then hop the wall and hit the ramp on the lower right.
Stay low for two high walls then jump to hit the high ramp. Avoid the rat pods
and hit the ramp. An exclamation point appears on the upper right of the screen
and that means its a series of pit jumps without a ramp. A rat missile will
appear and drop a low wall segment on the far side just before the checkpoint.

Set 5: Say your prayers because this is going to be hell. The track moves super
fast and you must avoid the walls with quick precision to survive this area. If
you are lucky, you can hit the star for a warp zone. Otherwise, get through 18
walls and hop over the two low walls. Two rat missiles will drop wall segments
which you will jump over this time. Good job! You made it!

Level 4 - Arctic Caverns

It's a slippery ride. This level is also split up into checkpoints.

Set 1: Run down the slope and avoid the icicle. Step on the ice block and pick
it up and toss it at the barrier.

Set 2: Fall down and throw snowballs at the snowmen to kill them. After the 2nd
one, fall down and stay to the right to avoid the ice block coming down. Follow
it to the bottom and let it destroy the barrier and keep going left.

Set 3: Avoid the falling icicle then pound the snowman dead. Work your way up
the ice slopes and avoid the avalanches being tossed by the snowman at the top.
Pound the snowman twice to kill it then use snowballs on the barrier on the
left to proceed.

Set 4: Avoid the spiked shell and don't touch the thorns. Work your way down
the slopes and at the bottom go right. Let the snowman destroy the barrier this
time.

Set 5: Careful not to slip into the thorns. Jump onto the moving platform and
duck the snowball. Jump into the pit and get ready to move left when you land
or the icicle will get you. Avoid the snowballs by staying down. It moves in a
pattern: one then two quick ones. Kill the snowman at the end and run under the
thorn quickly and avoid the low snowballs. Kill the snowman and then just use
the snowballs on the barrier.

Set 6: Stay down then work your way down the slopes. Avoid the ice block then
jump on the moving platforms. Duck under the stalacties. Avoid the spike shells
as you go down. Grab the ice block and toss it at the barrier.

Set 7: Avoid the shell and carefully jump over the thorn. Stay to the left and
avoid the avalanche and jump over the thorn. Pound the snowman to death. Jump
over the thorn and watch out for the icicle. Ride the platform and duck at the
barrier. Wait for three snowballs to fly over then jump over the fourth. One
more snowball will destroy the barrier.

Set 8: Fall down the platform and hang left. To land on safe ground. Hop over
the pit and wait for the shell to bump the barrier so it rises then run under
it. Do the same for the rest of the level. At the end, ride the platform to the
bottom and run to the right to finish the level.

Level 5 - Karnath's Lair

Just like the previous two levels, Karnath's Lair has checkpoints. This one is
marked by In and Out. Out takes you to the next area.

Area 1: There are not spikes here so just follow the snakes pattern wherever it
goes. On the fourth snake, when it is entering its hole (ending its ride) jump
straight up and another snake comes out the same hole. Ride the snake to the
apex and jump to the left into the out hole.

Area 2: The snake rises straight up. Ride it to the end of its hole then jump
straight up as the next snake will come out the same hole. Ride it to the far
right while jumping over three spikes and drop down to the right. Wait for the
next snake to show up then ride it to the top and wait for it to curl then ride
it to the hole. The next snake comes out the same hole. When it starts moving
down, let the tail pass by and fall down slightly to the right and land back on
it. It will return through the hole it came from. The next snake comes through
the same hole yet again. It will slither like a staircase and lead you to the
out hole.

Area 3: Be on your toes, the snake you are on will start speeding fast from the
start. It will eventually return to the hole it came from. The next snake comes
from the same hole but at least it is slower. Ride it to just before the spike.
Stay there until the tail catches up then make two quick jumps to the right. As
the snake enters the hole. The next snake moves fast. Wait for the tail to get
close to the spike before jumping to the left over the spike the jump to the
left again so you can catch the snakes body. At the apex, run to the left and
jump up when the snake is almost in the hole then when the next snake comes out
just run to the right and stay there until you fall back onto the snake as it
enters the hole on the left. Jump up and a snake will leave from the hole the
previous snake entered. Ride that to the right as you jump over a spike. The
next snake will do the same on the opposite direction. Now jump up and you will
be on the final snake. Jump over the spike and jump into the out hole to end
the level.

Level 6 - Clinger-Winger

It's gonna be another wild ride that will take you all over the place as you
race ahead of a deadly circle that can kill you in one hit if it catches up to
you. It is slow on the turns but it will gain speed on the straightways. Here
is the directions on where you are going starting from first turn:

up, right, down, left, down, left, down, right, up, right, up, left, down,
right, down, left, up, left, up, right, down, left, up, left, down, left, up,
left, down, left, up, right, up, left, down, right, down, left, down, right, up
left, up, right, down, right, up, right, down, right, up, right, down, right,
up, right, down, right, up, right, up, right, down, left, down (quickly), left,
up, right, down, right, up, left, down, right.

Boss Time. Wait on the far right for the circle to swirl towards you then use
little punches followed by the big one. It will be stunned, so run to the other
side of it and pound it again and then get on the other side and pound it again
Basically you will repeat that step of running to the opposite side and then
pounding it until it dies.

Level 7 - The Revolution/Armageddon

Destroy the warrior with your fists or grab the pole above and bop it to death.
Jump up the platforms to the next segment. Duck under the revolving spike and
quickly jump through the vanishing platforms when they become solid until you
reach the next segment. Duck the revolving spike and jump up the three sinking
platforms and quickly jump on and off the vanishing platform to safety. Kill
the warrior then jump on and off the vanishing platform and up the springboard
platforms to the next segment. Beat the next warrior to death and it will be
just one spring jump this time. Avoid the bouncing spike and make it to the
spring platform and kill the warrior here and spring up again.

Now you will deal with a cloud enemy. On the console version, it was green thus
now poison gas from it. Wack it with three stick shots then spring up two times
and kill the warrior. You will spring up to a sinking platform then jump up to
face a warrior. Dispose of it and jump on and off the sinking platform. Kill
the "green" cloud then jump to the next segment and kill another and jump to
the next segment. Now you got two "green" clouds to kill but you can ignore
them and keep moving up. Even though this one blows no bubbles, I'll call it
the "red" one since it takes more hits to kill. After it is gone, jump up two
sinking platforms and carefully duck under the fast revolving spike on your way
to the platform. Now you go up revolving platforms so time your jump to land on
this first one then jump to the spring platform when it is in range and get to
the next segment.

Duck under the revolving spike and wait to get on the vanishing platform and
jump to safe ground then get on the revolving spring platform and jump when the
next spring platform is in range. You go through this pattern a total of three
times. At the sixth spring platform, time your jump to avoid the revolving
spike and reach the next segment. Grab the stick to avoid being blown away and
then use the vanishing platform to reach the segment which in this case, marks
a checkpoint.

Use the four vanishing platforms to reach the new segment and kill the warrior.
Use the revolving springboard platform to grab the stick to hold onto while the
enemy comes from the left to blow you away. Two revolving platforms come. Land
on the bottom one and jump to the top on and from there, leap to safety. Kill
the warrior. Use the springboard platform to reach the platform and kill the
"red" cloud and spring to the stick to avoid being blown away, land on the
revolving spring platform and spring to the next stick to avoid being blown
away. Land on the springboard platform and spring to safety. Spring to the next
set of platforms to the next segment. Now you have two solid platforms and a
sinking platform left to reach the top and onto the Dark Queen.

Avoid the Dark Queen's spins and pound her will she is standing still. It is
possible to do your minipunches setup on her when she is in tornado mode. Just
don't try to hit her during her start-up phase. Just keep on plugging away at
her until she falls. Another thing to note too is that if she goes off the side
of the screen, she will appear from the other side. Congratulations. You won!
