While I do write all of my guides for free, it does take a lot of time and
effort to put them together. If you're feeling generous and want to show your
appreciation, I am gladly accepting donations. I don't know exactly what the
donations will be used for, but just know that you would definitely be helping
me make more quality FAQs! Even the smallest donation amounts are appreciated,
and are a great way to say how much you appreciate the work I do. If you do
decide you'd like to donate, please send the donations through PayPal at the
e-mail address listed below. Thank you so very much for considering this!!

By the way, this is also my contact e-mail, so if you want to contribute
something to this or any of my other FAQs, or have a question to ask about one
of them, go ahead and use this e-mail.

Welcome to another FAQ of mine. This one covers the GameBoy game Banishing
Racer, an old Japanese game which has gone uncovered for a while, now. It is
actually a decent racing game, albeit with a weird concept - a race car in a
2D platformer.

Yeah, I don't know much to say about this. But try to enjoy.

~~ D-Pad : Move around.
~~ A Button : Jump.
~~ B Button : Speed boost.
~~ Start Button : Pause/unpause.
~~ Select Button: N/A.
~~ L/R Buttons : These only have functions on the GBA SP and GameBoy Player
ways of playing the game. They will widen/narrow the screen,
                  respectively. Otherwise, N/A.

Also note that A+B+Select+Start is a soft reset combination.

                           Section Five: Walkthrough **BANISH_5**

To keep it simple and un-KB-grinding, due to the very linear nature of this
game, I'm not going to go in-depth too much except in areas where you might
actually have some trouble.

Level 1-1

As you begin, go right. Jump on the cars in this group without touching the
ground for a 1-Up.

Further right, at the bridge, a plane will fly overhead. Do not get on the
bridge except perhaps on one pillar when you see the plane - it'll bomb the
segments between the pillars. Jump across when the plane passes.

Level 1-2

Not a lot to say. Use the A Button to flap and stay up. Don't touch whatever
is below you, and dodge the birds. (You can safely land on them.)

Level 1-3

Not too far into the level is a spiked ceiling. Here, you'll want to defeat
any enemies on-screen first. Inch closer, defeat newcomers, and repeat until
you're across. There will be several such areas. The cannons will be hardest
part of the level by far - you'll need to get under the parabolic trajectory
of the cannonball, then bounce on the cannon twice.

Jump on the head of the boss, then quickly continue across to avoid the
resultant fire stream. Repeat as needed. Easy enough.

Level 2-1

Nothing in this level should give you any trouble - just progress right.

Level 2-2

Not too hard. Get on the elevators, and, when the next one is lower than you,
jump right and press the B Button. At the last elevator, get off, make the
enemy appear, return to the elevator, then let the enemy kill itself. Then
continue right to the exit.

Level 2-3

Pretty easy for a bit. At the bottom of the first hill, right side, jump around
to find a hidden block. Get on it, jump, and so on. At the third block, press
Down on the D-Pad to find a hidden area with a 1-Up!

Back outside, continue to the right. Beware the Donkey Kong thing - it'll toss
barrels. Instead of going straight for it, actually just jump on the barrels
until the nearby enemy passes by, then continue as you normally would.

Level 3-1

Very little to say. Near the end, past the sets of hills, you'll find a few UFO
enemies that'll try to abduct you. Be wary of when they appear - the weird set
of pixels on-screen will stop moving and disappear - and just set there until
they leave, then continue on your way.

Level 3-2

Another flying level, like Level 1-2. Just keep out of the enemies' way or jump
on them. You also need to beware of the spikes. Falling rocks appear near the
end, which can be easily dealt with by just getting on the ground and going

Level 3-3

Not much to say here. The only thing noteworthy is when you reach the pile of
rocks near the end. Some rocks will fall. Don't try to bypass them - you'll
need to back away and jump across them.

This boss is a bit more difficult. Here, you'll need to bounce on its head, but
it will block each shot you deal ... unless you jump on it very soon after it
releases a rock. That's all you can do - wait for it to drop a rock and try to
hit it. It'll take some patience, but you'll win.

Level 4-1

There's not a lot to say here until you reach the area past the third seagull.
Here, you'll want to ride the platform and jump when the fish appears, then
get back onto the platform. Jump across to the other one, repeat, and get on
the next platform.

Cross rightward as normal. At this point, the water levels begin to flucuate.
Whenever you see a platform largely above the surroundings, get on it before

Level 4-2

Does that freakin' car have a snorkel on!? O_o

Anyways, consider this a simple, underwater "flying" level. Dodge enemies and
avoid spikes and such. The only thing to note is the first spike set - as you
cross, an enemy will come across. Back out of there, let 'im pass, then cross.
Other than that, pretty simple.

Level 4-3

You'll find this level pretty easy until you reach the lasers and crushers. You
will need to time your jumps after the lasers. Once you are in the area below
the laser, you're safe. Also, don't touch the crushers - stupidly enough, they
kill you.

There's not much until further ahead when you reach the conveyor belt. There,
you'll be going against it, so be careful with your timing.

Further ahead are moving platforms. You'll have to dodge a laser here. It's
mostly timing, so just be careful! Past there is the end of the level.

Level 5-1

Aside from needing to pay attention due to the HORRIBLE contrast (at least, on
my version), it'll just take good timing.

Level 5-2

Very little to mention here, too. At one part, a train will come by. You'll
need to jump onto it, then wait a bit (lest you get killed by enemies), then
continue as normal. This will happen several times, too. You'll want, thusly,
to kill every enemy on-screen before proceeding. It'll save your life many
times, trust me.

Level 5-3

This level is one that'll move you forward automatically, much like the flying
levels - but you aren't flying!

It's pretty easy until around 300 seconds are left. There, you'll need to
quickly defeat the two enemies on the lower level, then continue around for the
u-turn. Then you'll find another enemy nearby, and you'll need to defeat it,
too, and jump ahead.

Then it's another quick turn around up top.

Then, further right, you'll see four different levels. Look at the signs next
to them - go on the third level, the one with the "O" sign. Defeat the enemies
as usual, then do another curvy thing - it'll be tough due to the cannon, but
you are able to jump on the cannonballs, so remember that. Then go along the

Next is another, similar puzzle. This time, go along the triangle path. Yes,
just do it - it avoids another hard freakin' u-turn thing. Further right, past
a few minor enemies, is the end of this HAAARD level. Phew! *headache*

This boss is even harder. You'll need to hit the boss while its guns are out.
The first two hits are pretty easy enough. For the third, you'll need to jump
on one of the bullets beforehand; for the fourth, the first, then the third
bullet. Repeat that latter for the fifth and you should win.

And so ... CONGRATULATIONS! You've beaten Banishing Racer!
