Cheats, Tips and Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include how to level up fast and how to unlock the two new jobs, Dancer and Gunbreaker

Level Up Fast

The quickest and most efficient way to level up quickly in the Shadowbringers expansion so you reach the level cap of 80 is to complete the main story quests. When you reach the later quests though you will find it harder to progress and will be forced to look elswhere for more EXP. To get the additional EXP you need will need to do side quests and dungeons, both of which can be done with parties.

Complete Side Quests

Side quests can be time consuming and you will not be able to get much EXP from them, they do however give you the opportunity to get special items from them. Always tackle the highest level dungeon available to you to get the highest amount of EXP possible, you can determine which one this by checking the Duty Finder.

FATE Events

Apart from doing side quests and grinding out dungeon after dungeon you can get more EXP by taking part in the FATE events. FATEs are real time events that occur in the open world and are available to you no matter what level you are. FATE events also award a unique currency which you can trade in for rewards at specialty shops. To earn certain rewards during FATEs you will have to meet specific requirements and conditions. FATE's can be tackled while you are queuing up for a dungeon waiting for a party to become complete.

Unlock Dancer

When you reach level 60 you will be able to unlock Dancer in Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. To do so you must go to Lisma Lominsa, the maritime city-state which is located in the realm of Eorzea on the southern coast of the island of Vylbrand. Go to Lower Decks (you spawn there) coordinates X 9.8, Y 12 and search for a NPC by the name of Eager Lominsan. Once you have spoken to him you will start the quest, 'Shall We Dance'. The quest markers should adequately guide you through the quest to unlock Dancer and get your Soul Stone. Dancer is a ranged caster that uses chakrams and sacrifices its own personal DPS in order to boost the parse and damage of other players in the party. If you choose to play as Dancer you will need to stay on top of dances, work through combos and use the proc'd abilities when they appear.

Unlock Gunbreaker

In order to unlock Gunbreaker in Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers you will need to have at least one Disciple of War or Magic job at level 60. Once you have these requirements you must go to the forest nation of Gridania which is located in the wooded region of The Black Shroud and whose economy is based on agriculture, forestry, carpentry and leatherworking. You want to go to New Gridania and look for the NPC Gods' Quiver Bow event which can be found at coordinates X 11.5, Y 11.9. Once you reach this location you will start the quest 'The Makings of a Gunbreaker'. The quest itself to unlock Gunbreaker is straightforward, you just need to do what you are told and follow the markers. By the end of the quest you will have your Soul Stone and you will be able to equip your weapon and begin leveling this tank that uses gunblades. Apart from the unique Power Gauge/Cartridge system, Gunbreaker has everything you would expect from a tank and should be straightforward to play provided you have a basic understanding of how to tank in Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers.

Unlock Class Quests

You will eventually unlock the different Role Quests as you progress through in the main story quest, this is a new type of class quest which instead of being specific to a certain class are quests that are tied to certain roles. The Role Quests can all be found at The Pendant in Crystarium. You will need to fully complete at least one Role Quest line to be able to complete the main story Quest of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers.
