Choosing the Best Starter Hero

After you have gone through the tutorial in Battle Breakers you will have to choose your starting hero, you will be given the choice of three Super Rare heroes; Tessa, Laric and Mei. When choosing your starter hero there are several factors you need to take into consideration, these include their Special Skill, Passive Skill, and Commander Skill. Heroes can also trigger Reflex attack or defense moves so you need to study these also. All the starting heroes have solid abilities and ultimately the one you decide to pick will be the hero which best suits your play style. Below is a look at the three starter heroes.

Tessa (Boss Killer)

Tessa is an Archer that is able to deal massive damage to a single enemy, usually taking them out with one shot and is also capable of burst damage. Although she has high ATK her HP is low. One big advantage selecting Tessa is her Boss Killer Passive Skill which makes getting past the difficult bosses in each stage easier. The downside with Tessa is her tendancy to fight against opponents that she has an elemental weakness against.

• Element: Water

• Special Skill: Multishot - Shoot 6 times for 50% ATK each (basically dealing 300% damage).

• Passive Skill: Boss Killer - Attacks deal 25% more damage to bosses.

• Commander Skill: Battle Gear - 20% ATK to the team.

• Reflex ATK: 15% chance for double strike (performs another attack of any type).

• Reflex DEF: 10% chance for dodge (completely avoid attack, ignoring all negative effects).

Laric (Tank)

Laric is a Warrior and due to his high health and his skill at staying alive and protecting the members of the team from taking damage makes him a Tank. He is an ideal Frontline character whose skills and boosts become extremely useful later in Battle Breakers. The downside to selecting Laric is that he doesn't deal much damage which during the early stages of the game before you have had a chance to build up other characters can be a problem.

• Element: Nature

• Special Skill: Power Strike - 300% ATK and ignores the target’s Reflex DEF. Also increases the entire team’s DEF by 16% of his max health for the next 1 hit.

• Passive Skill: Stonewall - A successful block increases block chance by 15% for 5 turns. Increase ATK by 100% Block chance.

• Commander Skill: +20% Block chance to the team.

• Reflex ATK: 20% critical hit (dealing double damage).

• Reflex DEF: Combo (25% chance for Block, 25% chance for Intercept).

Mei (Area Damage)

Mei is a Mage that specialises in dealing damage and control spells. Although she begins with twice as much mana as the other two starters she deals minimal damage and has low health. She does however deal area damage which breaks crystals, damages enemies when she dies, and revives faster than other heroes. All skills you will find useful in Battle Breakers.

• Element: Fire

• Special Skill: Fireball - 250% attack dealt to the target, plus an additional 188% ATK dealt to the area around the target. Also breaks crystals and creates fire terrain for 12 turns.

• Passive Skill: Rise of the Phoenix - Reduces Resurrection turns by 50% (meaning that fallen allies recover faster).

• Commander Skill: +15% Special Skill ATK.

• Reflex ATK: 30% chance for Power Surge (perform an extra attack to all enemies, plus next Special Attack from any teammate deals extra damage).

• Reflex DEF: 15% chance for Reflect (take the full effect from the attack, but return the same back to the attacker).
