Quick-Save

Use the quick-save icon on the left side of the screen as often as possible and especially before key decisions so you can return to your game at an earlier state if things don't go as planned.

Black Pits Content

This is a new area of content that is completely separate from the main campaign, in this area your party will face off against a series of increasingly challenging opponents. The Black Pits content is accessed from the 'Main' menu screen that appears after the introduction cinematic.

Party AI Function

Before you understand the combat systems you will find this feature when enabled helpful as it will give your characters some intelligence in battle making managing them as a party easier.

Multiplayer

To join a multiplayer game you have to go to the 'Multiplayer' section from the 'Main' menu and configure a connection manually. This is the only way it can be done until a future update provides a more user-friendly connection system.

Combat

There will be times when you will have to deal with a series of situations at once. To do this you will need to make extensive use of the pause button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen as it will enable you to tweak your team's combat on a moment-by-moment basis, and as the fight evolves.

Equipment

When you have new equipment go to the inventory and cycle between characters using the portraits on the right-hand side of the screen and drag the armour or weaponry from the backpack and onto the character you want to equip it on. Make sure you keep your party evenly upgraded so that no-one falls behind and becomes vulnerable.

Best Character?

If you are a beginner select one of the class archetype characters as the vast majority of the time you will be playing in a group. These characters include the up-close Fighter, the mystical ranged Mage, and the singing Bard. Avoid creating entirely new characters if you are new to the game.

Tutorial

Use the in-game tutorial to learn the game and take your time in Candlekeep. Talk to everyone, particularly the monks in green robes.
