Yes, once upon a time in the magical land of France, a company called Gameloft created a mobile game for Android and iOS devices about ponies. Pony pony pony! I am Blankety Blank Man, also called Lithl, and this is my fourth guide for GameFAQs. I have been a brony for almost a year as of this writing, and I'm loving every minute of it. I've even converted a few of my friends. [shameless plug]You can also read my fanfics over on FiMFiction.net: http://www.fimfiction.net/index.php?view=category&user=37611 Please be sure to rate and favorite the stories! It's what I subsist on instead of food these days.[/shameless plug] I am playing this game on a Motorola Droid X. The current version of the game (1.05) has a number of bugs on the Android platform, most notably relating to the friends list. So, let's get started making our own Ponyville, shall we? +----------------------------[ Playing the Game ][57E3]-----------------------+ As with most games for mobile devices, the control scheme is entirely based on touch. Swiping across the map will move the camera around your Ponyville, and tapping ponies or icons will activate them. The minigames are all completed with swipes or taps. +-------------------------------[ The Basics ][57E3][850A]--------------------+ Ponies: There are many ponies you can bring back to Ponyville. Ponies work in shops to help generate Bits, but they also like to play! Make sure you play with them in the mini-games to earn better star ratings for them. Shops: Ponies work in shops to create all kinds of neat items. Some shops require ponies to have a certain star rating in order to be assigned to the shop and produce useful items and Bits. Harmony Stones: Harmony Stones are the pony ruins in the outskirts of Ponyville. You need to collect Element Shards to activate them which will make your friendship stronger and help push the darkness back. Activate all the Hermony Stones to defeat Nightmare Moon once and for all! Decorations: Adding decorations will help you customize your town. There are a lot of decorations to choose from, and you'll earn XP for placing them in your town. Try to collect them all! Note: Only purchased decorations will offer XP. Decorations unlocked at Flim and Flam's Balloon Pop game will not offer any XP. Quests: There are many quests that you can complete. Quests will reward you with coins and XP, and they'll introduce you to new story elements. Make sure you complete them whenever you can! Note: You can only have three quests active at a time, and you have no control over what quests are available to take. Some quests will form a chain meant to lead up to bringing one of the Mane Six back to Ponyville, but purchasing the appropriate pony will not interrupt the chain. Expansions: You can get more space by expanding. Just tap on the darkened land to expand. Expanding costs Bits or Gems. Be careful -- when you expand, you might run into a few Parasprites! Note: The first time you run into Parasprites, the game hints that they can devour your buildings. This is not true; rather, you cannot build on top of Parasprites and they move around, making it difficult to put up buildings near where they've spawned. Parasprites: Parasprites are adorable but annoying little creatures that will get in your way if you try to build something. To drive them away from Ponyville you'll need to use some Element Shards. +---------------------------------[ Friends ][57E3][DC1C]---------------------+ Random Visit: You can visit a random town through the Social option. You can also add random towns you visit to your friends list. Note: Likely linked with the friends list bugs on Android, this option does not appear. Invite Friends: You can add friends through the Social option. The more friends you have, the more Hearts you can earn! You can also more ponies with Hearts. Note: Logging in to Gameloft Live! on Android has a number of problems, and users with a very large number of Facebook friends have reported interface problems. Either way, bugs with the social systems in the game make earning Hearts difficult or impossible at this time. Gifts: You can send 1 Heart as a gift to each of your friends, and they can send you one back in return. Note: Due to bugs with the firends list, most (or all) Android users are stuck with just Princess Celestia as a friend. Gifting Celestia or putting a chest in her town doesn't appear to achieve much of anything. +--------------------------------[ Resources ][57E3][4447]--------------------+ Bits: Bits are the main in-game currency. Bits can be used to buy shops, decorations, and homes for your ponies to live in. Clearing unwanted objects also costs Bits. Gems: Gems are the premium currency in the game. They're used to get unique decorations and special ponies to come and live in your town. Gems will also let you perform special actions that you can't normally do. Note: While you can occasionally find Gems throughout the game, the only way to get them in any respectable quantities is by purchase with real money. 20 Gems can be purchased for $2, and larger amounts get you discounts. Note: Both Rarity and Rainbow Dash currently cost Gems, and they are required to complete the game. Hearts: Hearts are the social currency in the game. You can earn them by interacting with your friends. Hearts can be used to purchase special items and to invite special ponies to your town. Note: Android users have difficulty obtaining Hearts, due to the friends list bugs on the platform. Note: Scootaloo costs Hearts, and is required by one of the quests in the chain to welcome Rarity to town. XP: XP stands for experience points and can be earned in various ways, such as completing quests, playing with ponies, and placing decorations. Earn enough XP and you can level up, which unlocks more neat stuff for you to get. Note: The maximum level is 60. The highest level required to unlock ponies is 49 (both Shining Armor and Princess Cadence are unlocked). Elements of Harmony Shards: Elements of Harmony Shards, or Element Shards, are hard-to-get pieces that you can collect throughout the game. While some are rarer than others, Element Shards allow you to activate the Harmony Stones needed to defeat Nightmare Moon. Note: The rarity of a given type of Element Shard seems to correlate with the distance of the matching Harmony Stone from the game's starting position (the initial location of Twilight's house). Laughter Shards are *EXTREMELY* common, while Magic Shards are much much more rare. Note: Element Shards are only used to activate Harmony Stones and to dispel Parasprites. If you've got extra Element Shards after activating the Harmony Stone, tapping the stone will use an Element Shard and may give you some Bits (about 5-20 Bits per tap, though each tap is not guaranteed to give Bits). You will find dozens of Laughter Shards for each Magic Shard you find, so the Laughter Stone is a decent extra source of income. +------------------------------[ Daily Rewards ][3F33]------------------------+ Each day, you can earn a small reward for simply playing. DAY 1 Bits: ?? XP: ?? Gems: ?? DAY 2 Bits: ?? XP: ?? Gems: ?? DAY 3 Bits: ?? XP: ?? Gems: ?? DAY 4 Bits: ?? XP: ?? Gems: ?? DAY 5 Bits: 1,500 XP: 20 Gems: 2 +---------------------------------[ Quests ][3D9A]----------------------------+ Quests help you progress through the game's story, and ensure you understand how to play. Some quests can seem redundant if you perform actions early (for example, bringing Applejack to Ponyville, and having a quest ask you to bring Apple Bloom to Ponyville so that Applejack knows it's allright to return), but that's your fault for skipping ahead in the story now, isn't it! ~[] A full detail of the quests in the game will be added to this section []~ ~[] at a later date. []~ +-------------------------------[ Mini-Games ][57E3][5652]--------------------+ There are four min-games available. Two of them help to level up the stars on your ponies, while the third actually gets you the completed star. The last game is for obtaining resources, decorations, and ponies. +------------------------------[ Apple-Picking ][57E3][5652][BDD1]------------+ It's applebucking season! tap the left and right sides of the screen to make your pony hoof it and get underneath those falling apples. The trees will show a burst of leaves where an apple is about to appear, and then the apple will shake for a bit before it falls. Some apples will fade and then turn rotten instead of shaking. When an apple turns rotten, it will fall at almost the same time as the apple that appeared after it. If you catch a rotten apple, your pony will pause for a moment before you can move again. Foals have slightly smaller hitboxes, making it slightly more difficult to catch falling apples. On the other hand, it's similarly slightly easier to avoid catching a rotten apple that's falling right next to a healthy one. Each healthy apple you catch earns you 20 points, and unless you get unlucky with rotten apples or apples appearing on opposite sides of the screen, you'll usually average in the neighborhood of 300 points. That will earn you about 1/10th of your fifth star. +-------------------------------[ Ball Bounce ][57E3][5652][2B2C]-------------+ Let's play catch! Swipe the ball towards your pony, and your pony will knock the ball back to you. The pony will never miss the ball, so everything's up to you. You might even say... the ball's in your court. Foals have slightly smaller hitboxes, and so the ball will spend slightly longer in the air before they return it. Getting higher scores with foals is more difficult. In general, you get more points the further the ball moves to come back to you; you earn in the neighborhood of 24 points when you knock the ball back when it's underneath your score display. So long as you don't miss the ball, reaching a score in the mid-200s is about average, with any of the ponies (foal or adult). That will earn you about 1/10th of your fifth star. +-------------------------------[ Magic Wings ][57E3][5652][CD7E]-------------+ Your pony has been given magic wings! Or, if your pony is a pegasus, they simply get a chance to fly around a bit. This mini-game is available whenever you complete a star for a pony. Completing this game will finally award the star to the pony. This mini-game is a side-scrolling dodge-and-collect type game. Your pony will be constantly moving to the right. Tap and hold anywhere on the screen to fly up, and release to drop down. You can't really fail here; simply fly around for 45 seconds. Anything else is pure gravy. Specifically, you can collect Bits, and try to beat your own high score. If you fill the meter at the top of the screen by collecting white clouds, you'll get a rainbow boost. Storm clouds and Shadowbolts get knocked to the side as you zip through the level. Your hitbox for collecting Bits is also larger during the rainbow boost. The rainbow boost will only last a few seconds, so make use of it while you can. Unfortunately, it's hard to judge where the bits are going to appear from the right side of the screen, so a lot of it comes down to luck. If you hit a storm cloud or a Shadowbolt before filling your rainbow boost meter, the meter will be emptied, and there will be about a second where you can't collect Bits or white clouds. You'll get a warning as a Shadowbolt is approaching; the Shadowbolt will be at the same level as your pony was when the final warning sounded. The Shadowbolts do not move up or down. +-------------------------------[ Balloon Pop ][57E3][5652][718A]-------------+ The Ballon Pop mini-game can be played at Flim and Flam's Ballon Pop. There are three variations of the game: you can play for free once every 24 hours, you can play for 25 Gems, and you can play for 30 Hearts. The free version can earn you Bits, XP, and Element Shards. This is probably the fastest way to get the rarer Element Shards in large enough quantities to activate the Harmony Stones... but you can only play once per day. The version that costs Hearts to play can earn you Bits, XP, Element Shards, and Gems. If you've got a lot of friends (and the friends system is working for you), this can be a decent means to earn Gems. The version that costs Gems to play can earn you almost anything in the game, from Bits to decorations to ponies. All of the versions of the game are identical to play. The screen will have a number of balloons floating around. Tap a balloon to pop it. Some balloons have prizes inside, others do not; there is no particular pattern to what is inside the balloons. You get to keep popping balloons until you've found three prizes, regardless of what they are. Once you've gotten your three prizes, you're given the option to collect, or pay 10 Gems to pop again. If you pay the Gems, you go back to the balloon popping screen, and you get to continue until you find one more prize. Then you can pay another 10 Gems to pop again, and so on. (I am not certain whether you are limited to three extra pops, or if there are simply six prizes per game, but I have never been permitted more than three extra pops.) Once you've collected your prizes, the game returns you to the town. If you got any ponies or decorations as a prize, you can find them in your Inventory (accessed from the Store in the menu). +---------------------------------[ Ponies ][BA19]----------------------------+ When you start the game, the only citizen of Ponyville available is Twilight Sparkle. Spike's there, too, but he's no pony! Most ponies are unlocked as you level up, and are then available for purchase with Bits, Gems, or Hearts. Some ponies can only be obtained in Flim and Flam's Balloon Pop game, and only the version of the game that costs 25 Gems to play. Note: As of right now (v1.05), ponies unlocked via the Balloon Pop game (except Snails) can be purchased for Bits if you turn on the Airplane Mode of your phone (or some other equivalent setting). The price scales up just like ponies that are normally purchaseable for bits; you don't get a discount, you just aren't being forced to pay real money. The fifty ponies will be listed like so: Pony's Name // Level unlocked Cost to purchase (time to build home) Description Quotes, if any (not all ponies are voiced) Notes, if any Any question marks below mean that the information isn't available to me at this time; either because I haven't unlocked the pony yet, or because I already unlocked them and can't go back to see that information. You can assign between 0 and 3 ponies to work in a store. A store without any ponies will not produce anything. A store with 1 or 2 ponies will produce one of the two items of your choice. When a store produces an item, you get Bits, XP, and you might get some Element Shards. The item itself is irrelevant and means nothing outside of some quests. If you assign a third pony to the store, the amount of Bits you get will be increased. There is no means to reduce the amount of time it takes to complete an item in the store, so the only way to increase your Bits/hour is by adding a third pony, increasing the Bits received. The XP and Harmony Shards are not apparently affects by the number of ponies present. If you want to maximize your Bits, consolidate ponies so that as many stores as possible have 3 ponies. If you want to maximize your XP and/or Harmony Shards, make sure every store has at least 1 pony. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the stores with longer item build times are more likely to pay out in the rarer Harmony Shards, but that's untested. All stores are capable of producing any Harmony Shard. The stores will be listed like so: Store // Level unlocked Cost to purchase (time to build store) Item 1 (build time) // Bits (/hr) // Bits with 3 ponies (/hr) Item 2 (build time) // Bits (/hr) // Bits with 3 ponies (/hr) Stars required +==================== | Windmill // ?? +=== | ?? They don't do very much, although many of them can produce Bits when you tap them... but only about 1 Bit at a time. When you purchase decorations (rather than placing decorationg won through Flim and Flam's Balloon Pop game), you also gain some XP. Some decorations are required for quests.
