The family has been diminished but it won't let me start a new g
He is the only one there and he obviously won't do anything. His child and wife died!

There can't be another generation since the wife and child died. You just have to wait for the husband too die, and then you will have too pick a new character. Hope this has helped! - Kat xoxo

This wont work because they want you to continue and have the guy get a new wife and more kids. If you don't want to wait for that to happen you can go to settings>date and time>change time and make him get really old and die than start a new generation. Hope this helps.

That happened to me. I had enough coins so I adopted a child from the special upgrades center in the shop.
