After fusing dinosaurs you will be able to level up your resulting dinosaur by collecting DNA from any or both of the original dinos.
Similar to Pokemon Go the best places to find dinosaurs are those of interest and big crowds, like landmarks or parks.
Although you do not have to move around to encounter dinosaurs as one new dinosaur normally appears about every 30 minutes you will have to be mobile if you hope to spawn a loot box.
If you have VIP status you will have double battery life which means you will have more chances to collect dinosaur DNA in the wild. If you are serious about this game becoming VIP is a must.
Do not worry about wasting darts when trying to get dinosaur DNA, it is better to land multiple regular shots than taking a lot of time to aim for a couple of perfect shots. Basically, dinosaur DNA is more difficult to get than extra darts.
