In the 'Base Building' menu there is an option that allows you to test the strength of your defenses. Make sure you take advantage of this feature when you think you have secured your base as it will enable you to spot any weaknesses which you can then reinforce to prevent enemies breaking through.

In order to improve the protection to your base it is essential that you fortify the path that leads to it. To do so you will need to fill it with cannons and explosives, the three areas in particularly you should focus on are the start of the path, in between your base and the start of the path, and close to the wall. By concentrating on these areas there is the possibility that the enemies will get blown up before they reach your base. Those that do make it to your base will likely wait until they are healed before they mount another attack.

To increase your chances of surviving substantially it is crucial that you upgrade your base whenever possible to ensure it is fully equipped to take on the enemies you encounter. Prioritize the Armory whenever you upgrade as doing so will allow you to place more turrets and cannons. Upgrading any of the areas will give you access to more weapons so make sure you are always looking to upgrade.

When you are placing your cannons and explosives to set traps it is important that you pay close attention to their range of action to ensure they are able to reach their targets. Place long-range weapons like mortars close to your base behind wall barriers to give them protection as they bombard the enemies approaching your base. Doing this will also force your enemies to stay still while they destroy the wall barriers, making them easy targets.
