If you unlock 25 medals you will unlock your Mii as a playable character.
At the 'Options' menu tap the 'Gift Code' button and enter the following codes using a D-pad. Then go to the 'Profile' menu and tap the 'Change Mii Clothes' button to dress up your Mii with the item you got.
