How to Recover Health

The best way to improve the health of your characters is with the use of a first aid kit, these can be found throughout the game, often on the corpses of defeated enemies. First aid kits can also be purchased at the store.

Providing you unlock the Corpse Eater ability Bormin and Farrow are able to devour corpses to recover health, this though must be used during a battle because it will not be possible after the battle is over.

Another way for the characters to recover health depends on the level of difficulty of the game and that is automatic health regeneration after winning a battle. Basically, the higher the level the less health is replenished.

Use Silent Weapons

The best weapons to use in Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden are the silent ones such as the crossbow and the pistol with a silencer as they enable you to eliminate an enemy in a single turn which prevents them alerting others.

You can find the Mimir Needle Pistol in a treasure chest in The Fallen Angel location. A second crossbow can be purchased at the store and Selma, who joins your party at the The High Road during the beginning of the game uses the Ancient Pistol which has a silencer. Prioritize upgrading silent weapons, so they are able to deal as much damage as possible.

Invest in Grenades and First Aid Kits

Whenever you return to the Ark make sure you visit the store to restock your supplies. Don't spend large amounts of scrap on new weapons, armors or upgrades for weapons as you will be able to find these anyway when you explore the map. In Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden items you have no use for can not be sold therefore it is more beneficial to invest in items you know will be used such as frag grenades, EMP grenades and first aid kits.

Search Areas Thoroughly for Loot

After you have cleared an area of enemies you need to ensure you search it thoroughly in order to find loot, this includes chests, scrap, electronic parts, destroyed weapons, weapon attachments, grenades, first aid kits, letters, and artifacts. Loot in Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden glows, so you will be able to easily spot it.

Reconnaissance Before Each Battle

In Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden it is crucial that you prepare before each battle by doing a reconnaissance in order to determine the position of opponents and to plan a surprise attack.

Whenever you see an enemy in the distance turn off the flashlight, so the team goes into stealth mode. Then split the party up to scout different areas. During a reconnaissance you are trying to determine what kind of opponents you are dealing with, their position or what areas they patrol. Make sure you pay attention to the environment to see if there are any elements such as trees and buildings you can use as cover or hiding places to spring surprise attacks.

Be careful to stay outside the red circle that surrounds an enemy as this indicates their field of view and entering it will start the fight immediately with the enemy making the first move. Remember that if you hide behind cover and wait for an enemy to get closer they will be unable to detect you.
