If you press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right A, B At the 'Title' screen with 2nd controller and then press 'Start' on the 1st controller you will be able to defeat normal enemies in 1 hit.

63 Extra Lives

At the 'Title' screen press B, A, Down, Up, Down, Up simultaneously on the 2nd controller. Then if you press 'Start' on the 1st Controller you will gain 63 extra lives.
