Customise your World
In the 'Pause' menu there is an option called 'World Settings' and alothough it appears unavailable because it is transparant you will be abe to access it if you click on it. The World settings menu handles various options that can transform the look and feel of the world you're creating. This includes changing the time of day, adding artistic filters and tweaking the lighting.
Use the World Wizard
If you are a new player you will find that creating a world from scratch is a long fiddly process. Consider letting the World Wizard feature generate a landscape according to your chosen theme or biome and save you a lot of time. If you don't see the choice you are looking for press the X button to shuffle the available options.
Tutorial
Don't skip the 'Create' tutorial at the beginning, this is a complex game and there is not a lot of built-in help so it's worthwhile doing as it gives you all the basics and covers important things you need to know beforehand.
