The evil creatures you encounter are composed of random items and coins which you collect to make your character more powerful. Initially your inventory is limited but once you learn the Town Portal spell you will be able to return to your home base regardless how deep you are in a dungeon to sell, break down, or store items and then return to where you where in the dungeon using the Town Portal spell again.

Normal difficulty has been mis-named, you will find it too easy, Hard difficulty is also too easy. Start the game on Expert, the highest difficulty that is initially available. You will be able to unlock more difficulty settings later in the game. The benefit of playing on tougher levels is that it will give you extra XP which will help you level up faster.

There are 6 character classes and the one you decide to play will depend on your play style. The character classes are Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, and Wizard. If you like melee battles then you should consider picking the Barbarian, if however you prefer to attack your foes from afar using sorcery then the Wizard is for you.

Although Diablo III is the third game in the series you will find that it will not be a problem if you know nothing bout the town of Tristram and the war between Heaven and Hell.
