Unlike the 2008 version of the game you cannot buy the DLC characters, they now have to be unlocked in-game by completing a certain task.
Alien Hominid:
Beat the Alien Ship level.
Cult Minion:
Beat the Ice Castle level on Insane mode.
King:
Beat Pipistrello's Cave on Insane mode.
Necromancer:
Beat the Industrial Castle on Insane mode.
Open Helmet Gray Knight:
Beat the Catfish Level on Insane mode.
Hatty Hattington:
Purchase for 1,200 Gold in the Insane Store (becomes available when you unlock Insane mode).
When you complete the following tasks the corresponding character will become unlocked.
Barbarian:
Complete King's Arena.
Bear:
Beat the game with Skeleton.
Beekeeper:
Beat the game with The Barbarian.
Brute:
Beat the game with The Eskimo.
Civilian:
Beat the game with Peasant.
Conehead:
Complete the Volcano Arena.
Fencer:
Beat the game with Mechanic.
Fire Demon:
Beat the game With Orange Knight.
Gray Knight:
Defeat the Barbarian Boss.
Iceskimo:
Complete Icy Arena.
Industrialist:
Beat the game with Blue Knight.
Ninja:
Beat the game with Fire Demon.
Peasant:
Complete the Peasant Arena.
Royal Guard:
Beat the game as Green Knight.
Saracen:
Beat the game with Royal Guard.
Skeleton:
Beat the game as Red Knight.
Snakey:
Beat the game with the Thief.
Stove Face:
Beat the Game with Gray Knight.
Thief:
Beat Thieve's Arena.
When you complete the game using any character and return to the overworld map a new path will appear under the Barbarian Boss level. If you access this new path you will enable Insane mode.

| Arena Master Win 40 Arena Online Matches. | 75 |
| Kay Eye Ess Ess Collect all 4 princesses' kisses in a multiplayer game. | 75 |
| Melee Is Best Defeat any end boss without using any magic. | 75 |
| The Final Countdown Survive until 2:30 in a Back Off Barbarian match. | 75 |
