i. Introduction
===============================================================================

Welcome to my Weapons and Utilities FAQ. This is a list of all the weapons and
utilites in Worms along with some information like how much damage the weapon
does, it's overall usefulness, and a brief description of just what the weapon
is. Simply pressing Ctrl + F, and typing what you're looking for is the
easiest way to find it. If you have something to add to this FAQ, saw any
spelling mistakes, saw this guide on another site or want permission to post
this guide on your site, or maybe just want to tell or ask me something, then
check out the Contact Information section towards the bottom of this FAQ.

Enjoy.

ii. Version History
===============================================================================

Version 1.0 (03/20/07)
The first draft of the guide is done. If I get any emails concerning changes,
I'll check it out and make an update if necessary.

Version 1.01 (3/21/07)
Just adding some sites that are allowed to host this FAQ. Planning on adding
some more information to the descriptions of some weapons and utilites by
sometime early next week.

Version 1.02 (3/25/07)
Added slightly more info for a few weapons.

Version 1.03 (4/08/07)
Edited the description of the Dragon Ball. More specific damage rate for the
Banana Bomb.

===============================================================================
iii. Important Details About This Guide
===============================================================================

Just a few things to keep in mind while you're reading this:

*Damage is based purely on what is recieved from the weapon being used. Factors
such as falling which cause additional damage are not included.

*Damage is also based off of the maximum damage or a direct/perfect shot, some
weapons will have a range of damage since people do not always get a direct
hit.

*Overall usefulness ratings range from Bad, Decent, Good, Very good, and
Great. Very few weapons will go below Good, consider it the average.

*The explosion after a worm's death(when they blow themselves up and leave a
tombstone) can do up to 30 damage to another worm.

*Utilities are just as important as weapons and sometimes can even be used as
one, so be sure to check those out.

**The descriptions and overall usefulness of these weapons and utilites are
basically my opinion. If you happen to disagree with me and think that one
weapon or utility is better than another, that's great, email me and tell me
specifically why it's better and how it can be used. Constuctive Criticism
is welcome.

===============================================================================
iv. Weapons
===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Bazooka------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 43 pts (Rare direct hit)
Affected by Wind: Yes
Overall Usefulness: Great

Simply put, the best all around weapon in the game. Also one of the most basic,
the bazooka is unlike any other weapon. Because the bazooka is affected by
wind, it is possible for a worm to fire the bazooka in one direction and have
it carried by the wind in the other direction to hit a target. The hardest
weapon to master in the game and definitely the most valuable if you are able
to actually master it. The bazooka is able to hit almost any point on the map
because of the wind, depending on the user's skill with it. A near hit can
will usually do at least 30 points of damage and can send the worm flying to do
even more. In some cases, you can even hit directly to the side of an enemy
worm and send it flying into mines, or into the water.

*The bazooka can also be used with the ninja rope, but I personally do not
recommend using that, at least not with any practice.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------Homing Missile---------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 40 - 45 pts
Affected by Wind: Slightly
Overall Usefulness: Very Good

One of the weapons that you usually have to wait a few turns before you're
allowed to use, the homing missile is one of the best in the game. You can
lock onto a target before firing, pretty much guaranteeing a hit. The missile
is fired much like the bazooka and seems to have a slight bit of movement from
the wind. This only lasts for a few seconds until the homing signal kicks
in and your missile is off to your selected target. Usually the missile will
make a wide curve so you have to be careful of hitting some objects like the
ceiling when using the homing missile. One of the easier weapons to get a hang
of.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Grenade------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 40 - 45 pts
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Very Good

You basic grenade, with an adjustable fuse time from 1 to 5 seconds. The
grenade has the ability to bounce which makes it's range for attack slightly
larger than most people think. It does about the same amount of damage as the
bazooka if you're accurate enough, and like the bazooka, it is great for
knocking enemies into water or just send them flying anywhere. When combined
with the ninja rope, the grenade can be used to get some people that you
otherwise might not have been able to; and quickly escape the blast radius
using the same ninja rope.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Cluster Bomb---------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 8 pts per shard
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Bad

Purely a situational weapon, but any good situation to use it in, there is
always a better weapon to use. The cluster bomb has a timed fuse of 1 to 5
seconds, and does no damage when it explodes. When the explosion occurs, six
shards are released and each do only 8 points of damage. This wouldn't be so
bad if the shards actually hit more often than not. In reality, the cluster
bomb is the worst weapon in this version of Worms. Yes, even worse than Prod,
which has better uses than the cluster bomb. The only time the cluster bomb is
good to use is when there are multiple exploding barrels surrounding a worm or
mines surrounding a worm. Sometimes you may be able to throw the cluster bomb
under a worm and blow the land out beneath them forcing them into the water.
Other than that, I suggest never to use this weapon because more often than
not, there is something much better that you could be using.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Banana Bomb----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 75 pts per banana/shard
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Great

Easily the deadliest weapon in the game, the banana bomb is a long time
favorite of fans of the Worms series. Basically a more powerful version of
the old and useful cluster bomb, it releases banana bomblets after the same 1
to 5 second fuse time. The banana bomb can also bounce, but it's bounce is
very sensitive and often causes inexperienced players to miss. The best way
to use the banana bomb is to utilize it as an air strike. Set the fuse time
so that the bomb explodes high above everything and the raining bomblets will
do plenty of damage. This technique was called the "Rain of Death" by older
Worms players. Similiarly, if there is a grouping of enemy worms not too far
away, just set the fuse to five seconds and throw in towards the middle of the
group. The amound of damage is somewhat unpredictable with the banana bomb,
but it is almost a definite kill every time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Dynamite-----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 65 pts
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Great

The dynamite has a set fuse time of 5 seconds and a much larger blast radius
than the grenade or the mine. Never use dynamite on just one worm, it is a
complete waste. If you use dynamite on a group, the worm closest to the
dynamite will suffer 65 pts of damage about 95% of the time and the other worms
will lose in the 30's to 50's. The dynamite is another weapon that can be used
with the almighty ninja rope to get to tough places and get out of those tough
places quickly. Dynamite can also be dropped from high places but be sure that
you are far enough over the edge so that it doesn't land right next to you.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------Air Strike----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 40 - 45 pts
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Good

Another weapon you have to wait turns to use. One important thing, do not
waste the air strike! It is a great weapon to save until later in the game
when people are hurt or have simply forgotten that you have the air strike. It
is a great weapon to have around in case a match actually goes to sudden death
and your opponent tries to climb higher to escape the water. Let them, then
when they're in clear view for the shot, take them out with an air strike.
However, if there is more than one worm and you have used you ninja ropes and
jetpacks in a combination with dynamite or mines already, then go ahead and use
the air strike. The key to weapons like the air strike is to think if you
could accomplish the same thing without wasting such a valuable weapon. Always
try to keep the air strike for that perfect opportunity.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Shotgun------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 25 pts each shot, 2 shots per turn
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Great

The shotgun is the only weapon in the game that you get 2 shots with in one
turn. Most people fail to see the true potential of the shotgun and instead
usually use the bazooka or a grenade which does less damage than the shotgun
would have. Especially if two worms are close together and both can be killed
in one shot, then use the shotgun to kill the either one and have his tombstone
explosion do damage to the other worm. Now you still have one shot to use, and
you may have killed two worms already. Another situation is if two enemies
are near a ledge, you can shoot both of them off and into the water instead of
just one with prod or fire puch. After the first shot, you can move to safety
and position yourself wherever you'd like to be for your second shot. You can
shoot the land out from under people or use your first shot to make an opening
for your second one. You can shoot barrels to get some extra damage or blast
near mines and have them flown towards an enemy.

Situations like these happen a lot in the world of Worms and people usually
waste the opportunity. If you can aim from a good distance with the shotgun,
you will be able to outplay a lot of people. Just don't stand too close when
you shoot or you will do damage to yourself and not be able to shoot a second
time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------Uzi---------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 50 pts (Rare perfect)
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Bad

The uzi is a weapon that you should only use if a worm has low health and is
close to an edge. Either kill the worm by your shots or push them into the
water to kill them. A shotgun will almost always be the better choice if you're
considering using the uzi. When you fire the uzi, it shoots bullets
automatically and you sometimes have to keep moving your aim cursor to stay on
your target. Simply put, there is always a better weapon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Fire Punch-----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 30 pts
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Good

The fire punch is a vertical jumping puch that knocks the worm up into the air
and is very useful for knocking worms into the water or into mines. It has an
advantage over the dragon ball which does the same amount of damage because of
the fact that the fire puch lifts the target into the air and can knock them
into either mines or water. You can use the fire punch during a jump, and can
go through the landscape which is good to clear out openings. It should
really only be used to knock an enemy worm into either the water or into mines.

*Fire punch is supposed to be Dragon Punch from Street Fighter. You will
notice that your worm wears Ryu's signature red headband during the attack.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Dragon Ball----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 30 pts
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Good

Considering that the fire puch does the same amount of damage and can lift the
worm up over obstacles, it is generally used more than the Dragon Ball.
However the Dragon Ball is great for when the Fire Punch might lift the enemy
worm too high and actually hit an object or due to it's trajectory knock it
too far. Try out the Dragon Ball and Fire Punch to get a feel for the
trajectory and distance that they can throw and enemy worm.

*Draqon ball is also a reference to Steet Fighter. It is the move Hadouken.
Your worm will wear Ryu's signature red headband for this as well, and your
worm will actually shout "Hadouken" while attacking. Although the actual move
is a reference to Street Fighter, the name Dragon ball comes from the Dragon
Ball series.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------Prod--------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: None
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Bad

Prod is a classic move in worms which simply pushes the target. It's used most
to push a worm into water or off of a high cliff, but generally you could just
use a bazooka or grenade to do the same thing. Being killed by prod is
a humiliating experience...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------Sheep-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 65 pts
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Good

The sheep is basically dynamite that walks. Use it the same way you would use
dynamite, only you can stand further back in a safer place. Once you release
the sheep, it will jump whichever way you had it facing and continue walking
that direction. Press the fire button a second time to have it explode. If
you don't press the fire button, it will explode after about 20 seconds. The
explosion can launch worms very far and blow up nearby barrels quite often.
The sheep will turn around if it walks into an obstacle so watch out so that it
doesn't come back to hurt you. You can move around while the sheep is moving
though, up until the last 5 seconds. The sheep can be fired while in the
middle of jumping to get it in the right place. Try to use when worms are
gathered together to get the most damage.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------Mine--------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 45 pts
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Good

The mine is the only explosive you can lay down without a fuse or set time to
explode. Instead, the mine will explode when a worm walks close enough to it
or if you just lay it down next to a worm during your turn. The mine will
flash and make a sound, and blow up in about 2 seconds. The ninja rope is a
great tool to use in combination with the mine. The jet pack is also handy
for explosives.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Kamikaze-----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 35
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Bad

The kamikaze is a suicidal move where the attacking worm launches itself,
sometimes through terrain, and then explodes after a short flight. Hitting a
worm while doing this will cause slightly more damage than the fire punch or
dragon ball and knock it out of the way. The only time to use a kamikaze is if
you have a worm with extremely low health and it will most likely die in the
next turn, then use kamikaze to try and maybe knock a group of worms into the
water or at least get a good fall. The kamikaze will hit enemy worms into
the air. One other time is if you have more worms than your opponent during
sudden death. In this case, you can afford to lose your worm to take out the
opponent's in one hit to win the match.

===============================================================================
v. Utilities
===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Blow Torch-----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: 30 pts
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Good

The blow torch is used to dig into terrain and usually hide their. If you are
in a bad position, you can usually use the blow torch to dig downward or
upward into the terrain until you get to a safer position. The blow torch can
be used as a weapon and is useful when it comes to pushing a worm into the
water. It also does 30 points of damage when used on a worm.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Ninja Rope-----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: None
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Great

The ninja rope is one of the most valuable utilities and weapons in the game.
Don't aim at where you want to go, but above that. Shoot the ninja rope and
swing your way over. If there is a ceiling of some sort, you can keep shooting
and releasing the ninja rope to get all the way across the map. The best part
is that you only use one rope if you don't touch the terrain while doing this.
The ninja rope can be used with the bazooka, grenade, cluster bomb, and
dynamite, to get closer to your enemy and then simply blow them up. The ninja
rope is the best way to travel across the map if you know how to use it right.
I suggest practicing with the ninja rope to become skilled with it. It will
help you out a lot in matches.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Girder-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: None
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Decent

Girders can be used for a number of things. The entire purpose of the girder
is to create land, either as protection from other worms, or as a platform for
you to travel to. The girder can be placed in any open space and can be
rotated to the angle that fits your situation best. People can dig with the
blow torch and then cover the opening left over with the girder for protection.
This is called the Darkside tactic. If you've ever won the Darkside award, it
probably means you played somewhat defensively.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Jet Pack-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: None
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Very Good

The jet pack is a great way of transport, allowing you to go any direction and
only buring fuel if you go up or to the side. After you burn a certain amount
of fuel, a number will appear on the jet pack and once it reaches zero, you're
completely out of fuel and you will just fall back to the ground, mostly
likely taking some damage. The jet pack, like the ninja rope, is great to use
with explosives, especially dynamite.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------Teleport------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: None
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Good

Does just what the name says. Teleport is good to use when you spawn in really
bad position and want to move somewhere where you have a little bit of an
advantage over some other players. Just make sure you don't teleport yourself
somewhere that you can be easily killed. People usually teleport high up, but
sometimes they'll be very easy to knock into the water.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Skip Go------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: None
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Decent

If you're not going to do anything for your turn and you don't want to waste
any time, then just select skip go and press A. Your turn will end and you
don't waste anyone's time by just sitting there. Sometimes you may want to
actually waste time and possibly get to sudden death if that is part of your
strategy, in which case, don't use skip go.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------Surrender-----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damage: None
Affected by Wind: No
Overall Usefulness: Bad

This will make your worms surrender and wave a white flag for the rest of the
game. You will not be able to move, and your turn will be skipped from now
on. Use it if you actually want to surrender...
