That's not a testament to me, but more to how amazingly simple these achievements can be, once you figure out the tricks to 'em. There are exactly 1000 achievement points you can acquire in this game. I would also like to state that this game drives me freakin' nuts. Read more in the rant section of this FAQ. ~~~~~ INDEX ~~~~~ 1. Tips and Tactics {TPTC} 2. Gimme Achievements {GMME} A. Starfleet Academy Graduate {SFAG} - 25 B. Captain Archer Award {RCHR} - 50 C. Ranting about Legacy {RNTG} ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tips and Tactics {TPTC} ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This section is just a quick rundown of some of the key lessons I've learned while playing the single-player game, and are especially useful when attempting to acquire the mission-specific achievements. With these tactics, I have yet to lose a ship in single-player mode. =Energy Allocation= Use it (hold down X in combat screen, use analog stick to adjust). Allocating energy based on the current situation/mission is a VERY useful tactic. Sometimes you'll be faced with missions/objectives where you don't need your weapons, so transfer that energy to shields and engines. Need a boost of speed to quickly enter the engagement, but too close to microwarp? Dump all your energy to engines then reallocate when you're in phaser range. =Blind Warp & Repair= If one of your ships is getting mutilated, don't let it sit there and take it. In the combat screen, select only that ship and hit the Y button to go to warp along its present course. This will quickly get it out of the combat area. Once it's safely away, drop out of warp, go to the map screen and have it warp to an area of the map that's well distant of any enemies. Set it to repair whatever damage it has and transfer all power to shields to maximize their recharge rate. Then switch back to the battle and take over your other three ships. Keep an eye on your ship's status, and as soon as it's ready to rejoin the fight, warp it back in. Make sure to redistribute the power, or your weapons will take forever to charge. =Manage Multiple Engagements= This is not only useful, but critical to earning several of the achievements. While the combined might of your ships may seem unstoppable, there are several missions where you need to be in multiple places at once. Get used to using the map screen to designate targets, and quickly take control of any ships that are in trouble. =Ship Classes= Recognize the importance of the various classes of ship: -SCOUTS are insanely fast, but not good for much else. They're incredibly useful in any mission where you need to tow something, because once you dump all power in their engines, most ships can't keep up. -DESTROYERS tend to have lots of torpedoes and torpedo bays, plus a good mix of speed and maneuverability. These are your heavy hitters, and are most effective when shields are down. Don't waste your torpedos hitting targets whose shields are still up...it really sucks to not have torpedoes at that critical moment. -CRUISERS and BATTLESHIPS have poor maneuverability but very powerful phasers. These phasers are very effective at taking down shields, and will continue to cut up the hull once they're down. They also have a moderate torpedo complement, but their slouchy turning makes lining up for a shot take forever. Only the Sovereign's forward-facing quantum torpedoes are worth manually firing. Otherwise, switch to your destroyers to vaporize your enemies. =Change Difficulty Level, but DON'T SAVE!= You can change the difficulty level at any time from the main menu. This is useful for trying to get certain achievements when you're playing on a higher difficulty. DON'T SAVE YOUR GAME IF YOU DO THIS! I tried changing difficulty levels to get an achievement, then switched back to a higher level to discover I didn't get the end-game achievement (Starfleet Ensign, Captain or Admiral). If you do this to get an achievement, just quit and reload the game at the previous difficulty level after getting the achievement (wait for the 360 symbol to disappear). If anybody has changed difficulty levels and still earned these achievements, let me know. =Do the mission-specific achievements on Ensign= This just makes sense. You don't get any bonus points for accomplishing the objectives at higher levels, so why make things difficult? Unless you like the challenge, of course! =Replay the same mission until you get all achievements= Once you've earned an achievement, it doesn't go away, even if you don't save. A couple of missions have more than one achievement, and they can't be earned on the same try (in "Behind Enemy Lines", for example, one achievement has you flying in guns ablazin', and another has you avoiding conflict at all costs). Since this game doesn't let you go back and play old missions, your best solution is to replay the mission without saving until you've acquired all achievements for that mission. ~-~-~-~-~-~- ACHIEVEMENTS ~-~-~-~-~-~- -Gimmie Achievements- {GMME} These achievements are "gimmes", the kind of achievements you get simply for playing through the game. ==A. Starfleet Academy Graduate {SFAG}== Achievement: "Complete the Tutorial Mission" Points: 25 Solution: Beat the first mission. If you can't get this one, please pack up your XBOX 360 and immediately return it to the store. ==B. Captain Archer Award {RCHR}== Achievement: "Complete All Missions in the Enterprise era" Points: 50 Solution: Obviously, beat all the missions starring Scott Bakula. ==C. Admiral Kirk Award {JKRK}== Achievement: "Complete all missions in the TOS era." Points: 50 Solution: Beat all the missions with a very old and tired-sounding William Shatner. ==D. Starfleet Ensign {SFEN}== Achievement: "Complete the single player campaign on "Ensign" difficulty." Points: 50 Solution: Play the whole game through on Ensign difficulty. Do not change difficulty levels. For more info, see 'Tips and Tactics'. ==E. Starflet Captain {SFCP}== Achievement: "Complete the single player campaign on "Captain" difficulty." Points: 75 Solution: Play the whole game through on Captain difficulty. Do not change difficulty levels. For more info, see 'Tips and Tactics'. ==F. Starfleet Admiral {SFAD}== Achievement: "Complete the single player campaign on "Admiral" difficulty." Points: 100 Solution: Play the whole game through on Captain difficulty. Do not change difficulty levels. For more info, see 'Tips and Tactics'. ==G. Glorious Victor {GLVC}== Achievement: "Test your mettle in battle against opponents." Points: 20 Solution: Win a muliplayer game. You can easily do this by starting a single player skirmish. The game doesn't care if you're playing against human or AI opponents for this one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Mission-specific Achievements- {MSSN} These achievements are specific to certain missions. Since you can't go back and do old missions without starting a new game, I highly recommend you try and get all of the achievements by replaying the level before moving on. If you need to replay a mission, DON'T SAVE! If you hit "replay mission" and saved, you'll automatically move on to the next mission if you have to quit. ==A. Guardian of Epsilon Theta {GRDN}== Achievement: "Protect all the medical ships in 'Be My Shepherd'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 2x NX-class, 2x Poseidon Solution: You need to protect the medical ships at all costs. This is one of those missions where you're going to want to pay more attention to the map view than the combat view. Your ships can hold their own, so don't worry about taking control unless they look like they're seriously hurting. Send each of your strongest vessels to escort a transport to their destination. Have the other two vessels follow the last transport. When the enemy starts showing up near your transports, in the map view, designate the nearest ship to attack them. Switch to combat view and take a phaser shot at the enemy so they target your ship instead of the transport. Then switch back to the map to make sure your other ships aren't getting harrassed. If they are, take control of your ships and have them take a couple of shots at each of the nearby enemy vessels. At some point you'll get a message about critically injured personnel. If you want to get the bonus points for this, send one of the two ships guarding the lone transport to the planet, beam up the injured and take them over to the USS Bach (the transport that should be in the upper right), then transport again. Then move this ship back to guard its designated transport. Do this again when you get the second message to accomplish this objective. When you get the message about the Romulan starbase, ignore it. There's no bonus points for attacking this base, and it leaves your transports unprotected. Keep an eye on the map for any additional threats, as they'll keep coming until the mission's over. Don't ever stray too far from your transports, and keep an eye on your fleet to make sure they're not shooting at one enemy while another is taking potshots at your transports. As long as you're diligent about threats in the area, you shouldn't have any problems. ==B. Protector of Encaria {PRTC}== Achievement: "Keep the poisonous spore count low during 'Poisoned Well'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 2x NX-class, 2x Poseidon Solution: You're trying to keep the spore count under 1000, and the easiest way to do this is blow up the refineries and ignore everything else. Using this method, I beat the level with a spore count of 400. There are refineries around every planet in the system. At the start of the mission, go scan the planet until you spot the harvester. Before you follow it to the cloaked facility, send three of your ships to two of the three refineries around the planets in the southeast. Have them wait right by the refineries...they won't be able to target them yet. Since your overall goal is to keep harvesters from reaching the facility before you destroy all the refineries, it makes sense to target the refineries closest to the facility first. Send your last vessel to warp to just south of the nebula in the center (you don't have to wait for the harvester to get there). Once you've activated the next cutscene, target the harvester (ignoring the escorts) and blow it up. Then send this ship to help one of your other ships blow up a refinery. Make sure your ships are all targeting the refineries and NOT the ships around them. Send your ships to target the third refinery in this area after destroying their targets. After blowing up the third refinery, split up your ships among the last two refineries in the northwest. After blowing up all the refineries, finish the level as usual. ==C. Tyburn Shockwave {TYBN}== Achievement: "During 'Stirring the Hive', knockout as many of the enemy fleet as you can in one blow..." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 2x NX-Class, 2x Poseidon Solution: After destroying the first two waves of ships, you'll be able to use the relay stations as EMPs to disable nearby ships. Your goal is to take out at least 12 enemy ships with the EMPs. With this method, I took out 21 ships with a single EMP. Send all four of your ships into separate swarms of enemies. As soon as you warp in, immediately warp to the EMP station in the northwest. Any ships that spotted you (including ones you passed while in warp) will head in your direction. Stick around the station for a while and keep setting random headings right around the station to keep your ships from blowing up any enemies. Once you have enough ships in your immediate area, hail the station to set off the EMP. Do the same for the second EMP. If you take out enough ships with these first two EMPs, the cutscene for the three harvesters will activate early. ==D. Lone Wolf of Makus & Pacifist of Makus {LWPF}== Achievement: "Complete mission objectives in 'The Squeeze' without the aid of starbases. You maverick renegade." & "Complete 'The Squeeze' without spilling any blood." Points: 40 (20 each) Fleet I used: 1x Constitution, 2x Miranda Solution: I lumped these two together because you can accomplish both at the same time...and they're so easy it's almost criminal! You need to capture and return the Bird-of-Prey without killing anybody, so don't shoot at anybody. Also, you need to not capture any starbases, so...don't capture them! First, warp all your ships to just northeast of the southwest-most planet (where the Bird-of-Prey is located). Then target the Bird-of-Prey and ONLY the Bird-of-Prey. After it has been disabled, warp all but one of your ships to the northeastern- or northwestern-most corner of the map. This ensures they don't take any potshots at passing Klingons. With your last ship, have it tractor the Bird-of-Prey, then transfer all power to engines and head back to the starbase as quickly as possible. You're going to take a beating along the way, but that's okay; if your ship is taking too much damage, simply disengage the tractor beam, have it warp to where your other ships are located, and send one of your healthy ships in its place. As hard as the Klingons try, they can't destroy the prototype, so you can "leapfrog" as many times as it take to get it back to the starbase. Easy as pie! ==E. Liberator of Makus {LBRT}== Achievement: "Secure all enemy strongholds in 'The Squeeze'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 1x Constitution, 2x Miranda Solution: For this objective, you have to capture the three starbases around the three nearest planets. This one's pretty simple, although you need to be careful about keeping your own ships from blowing up the starbase before you've managed to capture it. First warp your ships to the nearest starbase and have all ships except the Enterprise target the defending ships. Then have the Enterprise target the starbase (phasers only) until its shields are down. One note about this (read rant section for more information): you'll find your phasers frequently won't maintain a lock long enough to do a full burst. The solution to this is drop the Enterprise "below" the center of the station (where the reticule is located), as the Enterpise's phasers are on the top of saucer section. Once the shields are out, beam a boarding party over, then focus on taking out any nearby enemy ships. Warp to the second starbase and do the same. Once you've finished the second starbase, you'll notice the first one taking a pounding. Warp over there and take out the enemy ships if you want more points (don't worry if they destroy the starbase...you don't really need it). Go to the third starbase, and repeat the process to unlock this achievement. ==F. Agile Predator {AGLP}== Achievement: "Complete 'Behind Enemy lines' unscathed..." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 1x Constitution, 2x Miranda (irrellevant for this mission...don't buy anything) Solution: This is actually a lot easier than it sounds. "Unscathed" is a relative term...both times I did this, I actually took a few hits and still got the award. The first part of the mission isn't important...just blow up the Klingons as quickly as possible. Once you're in the Bird of Prey, transfer your energy to the shields and engines...you won't need your weapons until the very end. This mission requires skilled use of the cloak. You need to watch your speed when you're near enemies. If you go too fast (say, above 1/2 impulse), it'll make it easier for the detectors to see you. There are only three targets you need to scan: the asteroid mine (southeast of the southwest planet), the shipyards (west of the southeast planet), and the cannon (south of the north planet). Start by heading toward the asteroid mine. When you're about 5500Mm from the nearest enemy, engage the cloak (keep an eye on your cloak energy during the whole procedure). At about 4000Mm, drop speed from full impulse to 1/2 impulse. Once you're in scanner range (less than 3000Mm), come to a full stop and scan the mine. While the scan is commensing, turn your ship away from the asteroid to prepare to escape as soon as the scan's complete. Once the scan is finished, go to 1/2 impulse, then full impulse once you're safely away. If your cloak runs out early, immediately engage your warp drive to avoid getting detected/shot at. Go to a safe corner of the map and wait for your cloak to recharge. Do this same procedure for the shipyards and the cannon. If you run into any detectors, quickly turn around and go back the way you came at full impulse. However, if you've begun scanning one of your targets and the detector cutscene plays, don't skip the cutscene; your scanning timer will continue to countdown during the cutscene. After you've completed scanning all three targets, the last thing you need to do is destroy the cannon's sensor. The easiest way to do this is sneak up to it the same way you did the other targets, except this time get within 1000Mm of it. Come to a complete stop, point your nose directly at the target so both your disruptor and torpedo reticules are on it, quickly drop your cloak and open fire until the mission is complete. You may take a couple of hits, but you'll still get the achievement. ==G. Brazen Warrior {BRZN}== Achievement: "Never hide from your enemy in 'Behind Enemy Lines'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 1x Constitution, 2x Miranda (irrellevant for this mission...don't buy anything) Solution: This one's pretty straightforward: don't use your cloak during the entire mission. Since you're not looking for a fight, this one requires hit and run tactics. As above, your three targets are the asteroid mine, the shipyard and the cannon. Head toward the asteriod at full impulse, with all energy diverted to engines and shields. Scan the asteroid once within range, and as soon as the scan is completed, do a blind warp away from any threats. Find a safe area of the map, do any repairs you need to do, then repeat the process for the shipyard and the cannon. After warping away from the cannon and repairing, warp directly behind the cannon's sensor and blow it up as quickly as possible. ==H. Hero of Kathra & Scourge of Kathra {HRSK}== Achievement: "Don't allow your allies to perish in 'FireStorm'." & "Roll like a wave of destruction through the Kathra system..." Points: 40 (20 each) Fleet I used: 1x Constitution, 2x Miranda Solution: I put these two together because you have to accomplish the first achievement to accomplish the second. Kind of silly, really. For Hero of Kathra, you need to save the starship near the asteroid mine. Warp to it at the beginning of the mission and destroy any ships shooting at it. You don't have to keep the ship alive the entire mission...you just need to save it from this first assault. For Scourge of Kathra, you need to accomplish all the objectives, which means rescue the starship, blow up the shipyards, then take out the cannon. I went for broke and blew up everything on the map. After taking out all the ships around the asteroid mine, quickly head over to the shipyards and take them out before targeting the nearby vessels. The shipyards are very weak. Even with shields up, two to three torpedoes should do the trick. The quicker you take these out, the less fully operational ships will be around the cannon. Once you get to the cannon, draw out the vessels and attack them outside the range of the turrets. Then start west or east of the turrets and take all the turrets out (it's important to start on the end so you only have one or two turrets shooting at you at a time. Finally, blow up the cannon. ==I. Champion of the Fleet {CHMP}== Achievement: "All allies must survive in 'At the Gates'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 1x Constitution-refit, 1x Miranda-refit, 1x Constellation Solution: The most important challenge of this mission is at the very beginning. Send your single fastest ship toward the signal and scan it. As soon as you've scanned it, target the shipyard and destroy it with two to three torpedoes. Once the torpedoes are away, you need to turn around and book it out of there before your ship is caught in the shockwave, or it'll be severely damaged. Renezvous with your other ships just outside the range of the turrets. Take control of the Enterprise and start blasting turrets before your allies show up. After taking out four or five turrets, concentrate on the enemy ships. Your only goal should be to blow them up as quickly as possible before they blow up any of your allies. After you've taken out all the ships, use your phasers to take down the station's shields, then beam a boarding party over. Blow up the new ships that arrive, then take out the three shipyards. ==J. Spirit of Kahless {SPRT}== Achievement: "Strike only at the heart of the enemy in 'Omega'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 1x Constitution-refit, 1x Miranda-refit, 1x Constellation Solution: After overloading all three dampeners, you'll fight the Omega sphere. You need to destroy the sphere without destroying its protective drones, so target the sphere only. If you have your energy diverted to your shields and weapons and repair when needed, you should be able to weather this battle without any major problems. ==K. Custodian of Phidian {KSTD}== Achievement: "Save the sensor relays in 'Revelations'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 2x Constellation, 1x Miranda-refit, 1x Apollo-refit (see Antique Collector section) Solution: This is one of the only missions where I felt a scout ship (Apollo- refit) REALLY came in handy. You need to micromanage your ships quite heavily in this mission. Keep warping them to the locations where the most imminent threat to the planets AND the sensor relays are located. Tranfer all power to weapons for quick recharge as well (you won't need shields, and your engines should be fast enough). As soon as you have the chance to pick up the turrets, have your scout ship transfer all power to engines, warp to the turrets, tractor one, and move it to the nearest sensor relay (remember to disengage the tractor beam). If you place it in front of the relay, it should protect the relay from any incoming stellar fragments. Do the same for the next relay, all the while keeping an eye out with your other ships for threatening fragments. After the relays are taken care of, then move the remaining turrets in front of the planets. Use the scout ship to quickly tractor fragments into the large fragment, then have your ships collectively blow it to pieces. ==L. Guerilla in the Mist {GRLL}== Achievement: "Spill no blood in 'Ambush'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 1x Galaxy, 1x Akira, 1x Steamrunner Solution: Hit and run tactics are the key here, which means you need a single, fast, well-armed ship (such as the Akira). Your goal is to beat the mission without blowing up a single Romulan ship (I avoided turrets as well, just in case). Move the rest of your fleet to a safe, out of the way area, like the southeastern corner of the map. After detecting the buoy, you need to start taking out warp dampeners and dampener nodes. Take a look at the map. You'll see nodes radiate out from the station in the center. There are four nodes around the station, with dampeners surrounding those. DO NOT GET ANY CLOSER THAN THESE. Stick to the nodes and dampeners on the perimeter. If you get too close, you'll trigger the station detection cut-scene, and the Romulans will start attacking in force. Start blowing up nodes on the perimeter. Every time you target a node, the Romulans will come running, so don't stick around too long. If the Romulans give chase, head for the nearest nebula (as long as it's not too close to the station as stated before). The Romulans will not follow you in and will resume their patrols (God bless moronic AI). Keep doing this around the perimeter until Picard informs you warp capability has returned. Then have your ships warp to the western edge of the map as a rendezvous point (avoid the nebulas along the way). If you check the western side of the map, you'll see a corrider between the nebulas that runs straight to the station. Use this corridor to avoid the nebulas, and warp right to the station's doorstep. Make quick work of the shields, beam your away team in, and warp back out the same corridor (don't worry about the "wait for the away teams" comment from Picard...it's just superfluous dialogue). ==M. Sword of Aurelia {SWRD}== Achievement: "Take a swing at the bully in 'Anger and Mercy'..." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 1x Sovereign, 1x Akira, 1x Steamrunner, 1x Defiant Solution: Blow up a Borg cube. First take out the Borg ships harassing the folks near the station, then take out the spheres in the northwest, then concentrate your firepower on the ships in the middle until the cubes get close. Take one out, then return to the fight against the smaller ships. ==N. Savior of Aurelia {SAVR}== Achievement: "Protect your ward in 'Anger and Mercy'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 1x Sovereign, 1x Akira, 1x Steamrunner, 1x Defiant Solution: You have to protect ALL of the civilian transports. This one was a bit difficult until I figured out the trick to it. Timing is of the essence on this one. These first few steps you must do very quickly. First, send one of your two strongest ships to attack the spheres in the northwest. Then, send your other strongest ship to attack the ships in the northeast. Finally, send your other two ships to target the three Borg rectangles near the station. Fire a short phaser blast at the first rectangle, then target the second and fire again, then the third. This will cause them to target you instead of the transports. Do the same for the spheres in the northwest, and finally the ships in the northeast. Take control of the northwest battle and finish it as quickly as possible. Then send this ship to support your other lone vessel in the northeast. Go to your other two ships and finish taking out the rectangles, then have them join the other two ships in the northeast. All the remaining Borg attacks will come from this general direction. Keep checking your map regularly, though, as I've had a couple appear south of this area. Keep blowing up Borg spheres and rectangles. Ignore the Cubes...if they assimilate a planet, that's just less transports you need to worry about. Keep fighting until Picard says you're done...like a good little Starfleet Officer! ==O. Allied Commander {ALLD}== Achievement: "Be a team player in 'Generals'." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 1x Sovereign, 1x Akira, 1x Steamrunner, 1x Defiant Solution: You have to save your allies from the four Borg conflicts. After dispatching the first wave of Borg as quickly as possible, have your weakest vessel hail the Klingons to assign their fleet to it. Send this ship to the battle in the northwest. Send the Enterprise to the battle in the north. Take control of your last two ships and send them to the battle in the east. The Romulan Warbirds here will be easily destroyed if you don't act quickly. Target the obelisks first, as they are the easiest to dispatch, THEN take out the diamond. After destroying these ships, have your weaker of the two ships here hail the Romulan warbirds. Send these ships to support the Enterprise, and have your other ship support the fight in the west. After winning these two battles, make sure you repair your ships completely before hailing your allies. No other Borg will appear during this time. During the final battle, ignore T'urell and focus on the other Borg ships in the following order: obelisks, spheres, cubes. ==P. Autonomous Operator {ATNM}== Achievement: "Complete the final mission without the use of support craft." Points: 20 Fleet I used: 2x Sovereign, 1x Akira, 1x Defiant Solution: This one's way too straightforward for the last mission. Don't have the USS Scott resupply/repair you. That's it. Beat the level without help. C'mon, it's not that hard! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Special Achievements- {SPCL} These are awards for accomplishing unique objectives not specific to a mission. ==A. T'Pol Award {TPOL}== Achievement: "Complete the Enterprise era without losing a single ship." Points: 30 Solution: Don't let any of the ships in your fleet blow up during the Enterprise era. If you lose a ship during a mission, quit the mission and redo it. ==B. Spock Award {SPCK}== Points: 35 Achievement: "Complete the Original Series era without losing a single ship." Solution: Don't let any of the ships in your fleet blow up during the Original Series era. If you lose a ship during a mission, quit the mission and redo it. ==C. Riker Award {RIKR}== Points: 40 Achievement: "Complete the Next Generation era without losing a single ship." Solution: Don't let any of the ships in your fleet blow up during the Next Generation era. If you lose a ship during a mission, quit the mission and redo it. ==D. Antique Collector {ANTQ}== Achievement: "Start a mission in the Next Generation era with a fleet containing an Enterprise era ship." Points: 20 Solution: As it says, keep an Enterprise-era ship all the way through to the start of the Next Generation missions, which is a lot easier than it sounds. If you read my breakdown of the Mission-Specific Achievements, you'll note all the Original Series missions are accomplished with three vessels. That's because the fourth slot is an Enterprise-era ship that should be kept out of the fighting at all costs. The easiest way to do this is to warp the ship to an unoccupied area of the map (the corners do nicely). The only missions you need to watch out for are "At the Gates" and "Omega". In "At the Gates", there's deadly plasma all over the place, so keep your Enterprise-era ship right where it is instead of warping it somewhere. In Omega, once you've disabled the dampeners, ALL of your ships will join up to attack the Omega Sphere. Before you do anything else, you need to quickly warp your Enterprise-era ship out of the fight. Once you've reached "Revelations", you'll get this achievement after watching the cut-scenes. You don't need to beat Revelations, so once you get the achievement, you can restart and sell your Enterprise-era ship (as it won't be too effective in "Revelations"). Just make sure you actually got the achievement before you sell. ==E. Chain Reaction {CHNR}== Achievement: "Deliver the killing blow to more than one ship with a single torpedo." Points: 20 Solution: I hate this achievement. It's basically dumb luck. I've earned it twice, but I can't tell why. The second time I earned it was after destroying the tactical cube with a Defiant class on the last mission. 'd say any of the last three missions are your best bet since there's a crapload of weak Borg ships that don't have shields. The last mission in particular is good because you can keep beating it and reloading until you have a fleet of top-of-the-line ships with quantum torpedoes. I'd recommend controlling a Defiant-class ship because of its firepower and maneuverability. Sovereigns don't do you much good if it takes you forever to get a torpedo lock. If somebody actually has a "strategy" for this one, please let me know. =F. Legacy Captain {LGCY}= Achievement: "Unlock the USS Legacy." Points: 20 Solution: The biggest letdown in a game of big letdowns. Keep replaying the last mission until you have enough points to buy three Sovereign-class ships (four including the Enterprise). The last one will be called the USS Legacy. That's it. To the creators of this game, I must ask: where the hell's my Prometheus? After all that, you're not gonna hook me up with my Multi-Vector Assault Mode? Boo, you whores! For more on this subject, please see my rant section. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Online Achievements- {ONLN} These achievements can only be accomplished via online multiplayer...which really sucks, because most people don't have the patience for this game's many problems, so you're hard pressed to find folks to game with. ==A. Keeper of Gre'thor {KEPR} - 25== Achievement: "Send 10 Klingon vessels to Sto'Vo'Kor in one online match." Solution: Pick a fight with someone playing as Klingon with multiple respawns. Keep targeting their weakest ships. This is generally a good strategy anyway, as it quickly burns down their respawn count. ==B. Avenger of Surak {AVNG} - 25== Achievement: "Destroy 10 Romulan ships in one online battle... if you can find them." Solution: Pick a fight with someone playing as Romulan with multiple respawns (no, I don't know why Surak needs to be avenged). Keep targeting their weakest ships. This is generally a good strategy anyway, as it quickly burns down their respawn count. ==C. Resistance was Useful {RSTC} - 25== Achievement: "Eradicate 10 Borg ships in a single online match." Solution: I love the title of this achievement. Pick a fight with someone playing as Borg with multiple respawns. Keep targeting their weakest ships. This is generally a good strategy anyway, as it quickly burns down their respawn count. ==D. The Wrath of Khan {WRTH} - 25== Achievement: "Destroy 10 Federation ships in a single online battle." Solution: Pick a fight with someone playing as Federation with multiple respawns. Keep targeting their weakest ships. This is generally a good strategy anyway, as it quickly burns down their respawn count. ==E. Anonymous Red-Shirt Award {ANMS} - 5== Achievement: "Be the first to go down in a 4 fleet multiplayer game." Solution: Play a multiplayer game with three other people, and be the first to lose all your ships (including respawns). I'm not ashamed to admit I got this on my first multiplayer battle. Of course, I blame my teammate who literally ran and HID in the middle of a FIGHT! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ranting about Legacy {RNTG} ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since this is my FAQ, I figure I'm entitled to include a rant section. So what truly bugs me about Star Trek: Legacy? Oh, let me count the ways. First, what the hell is up with this artificial restriction on going "up" and "down"? I understand they're trying to keep ships from flying too far away from the action, but I can't repeat half the stuff I've said after failing to get a torpedo lock because somebody was directly "above" me. It's SPACE, morons! There IS no up or down! Oh, and speaking of targeting, where the hell's the nose of my ship? Because that's apparently the only place that can face my enemy so I can fire torpedoes, and there's no decent reticule to show me where that is, except the one that hangs at an odd angle ABOVE my ship when my camera's pointed behind it. And how is it I can sit right next to a starbase and my ship can't get a firing solution? "Sir, I can't get a lock!" "What do you MEAN, you can't get a lock? The target's above us, to the side of us, oh and below us too!" Same goes for the Borg cubes. "Can't see the target sir!" "It's that big square thing right in FRONT of us!" And there's no "front" or "back" on a Borg cube. It's a cube for a friggin' reason! I was also thoroughly disappointed with the voice-over performances. Scott Bakula and Patrick Stewart were wooden, William Shatner sounded like he took too many tranquilizers...I mean, the only two that actually put some realistic inflection in their voices were Avery Brooks and Kate Mulgrew, and they were barely in it (Brooks had one mission, and it was "save me, Mr. Picard, save me")! I understand it's just a video game, but c'mon, have some professional integrity! Okay, other issues: controls randomly freezing on me so my ship flies in straight line, inability to load old missions or go back and play some of the old missions with the new craft, frozen phaser sounds, inability to issue specific orders to my ships (despite the fact the manual says I can). Generally, this is an insanely infuriating game. About the only reasons I play it are I love Star Trek, and this has some of the easiest achievements you'll find anywhere.
