 1) INTRODUCTION
 ===============
 ===============

Hi, my name is Tru Smiles, my Xbox Live Gamer Tag is also Tru
Smiles. I've never wrote a guide before, this is my first, so I
might make mistakes, but hey, it's all part of learning.

This is a complete boss walkthrough/guide/thing for Sonic the
Hedgehog on the Xbox 360.

 2) UPDATES
 ==========
 ==========

Last updated: 01/07

I've added some of the tips that people have emailed in with. Thanks!

I've added a bit more to Egg-Cerberus, Silver with Sonic, Egg-Wyvern
with Sonic, Iblis Phase 2 with Shadow, Mephiles with Shadow and Solaris.

I've also added 'Hits needed to defeat' for all bosses. Some, such as
Silver's and Shadow's, say 'About' as a rough guide to how many hits it
takes, since it's hard to measure Silver's random tossing and Shadow's
approved whacking capabilities.

Also added more to the general tips section.

 3) LEGAL STUFF
 ==============
 ==============

I don't mind if anyone uses this guide elsewhere, but I would
prefer it if you credit me or let me know through my email of
[email protected].

Only website it should be appearing on at the moment anyway is
gamefaqs.com obviously and madgamers.net.

If anyone helps me with this guide by pointing out errors, better
ways to do things, handy tips, etc, then I'll be glad to make a
'thank you' section in the guide :)

 4) SPECIAL THANKS
 =================
 =================

Special thanks to Angnix who emailed me with a load of her own
tips and findings which I have edited in at various points, as
well as some handy suggestions. Cheers!

Special thanks to Matthew and M4sh4d4r for pointing out the
Egg Cerberus tip and M4sh4d4r for giving me other uses for
Sonic's gems.

Speical thanks to Stephen pointing things out in Shadow's
boss fights.

Thanks again guys!

 5) GENERAL BOSS TIPS
 ====================
 ====================

Send me your own and I'll be happy to credit you.

1) If a boss area has a lot of rings around, don't collect them
all at the start. Save some in case you lose them later on. You
can collect the remaining ones before you deal the killer blow.

2) Be aware of when the camera angle is suddenly going to pan
around for a certain part of the boss, sometimes the camera is
the hardest part of a boss fight.

3) The quicker you do the boss, the more chance of getting a S
Rank. However, make sure you collect all the rings on the stage.
Some stages might have extra robots to bash, which will help boost
up your score.

4) If you're collecting Sonic's gems (Brought from the shop) then
the red gem can be quite useful. It slows down the area around you
a small amount, whilst Sonic stays at normal speed, and is
particularly useful for bosses that charge at you or require you
to grab hold quickly. The yellow gem is also very useful as it
creates a shield around Sonic that not only collects rings close
by, but also absorbs a single hit you take before disappearing,
but you can bring it back again suddenly. Thanks to Angnix for
reminding me about this one!

5) Don't forget the action gauge for Shadow. His extra abilities
can be very useful in a boss fight and give him extra 'umph'.

6) It will take 30000 points to gain a S Rank and time isn't
always enough. It takes 27000 for a A Rank and 25000 for a B Rank.

 6) SONIC'S BOSSES
 =================
 =================

 6.1) BOSS 1 EGG-CERBERUS
 ========================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 4

Welcome to the first boss of the game. He isn't too hard, since he
doesn't actually bother to properly attack you.

First off, he'll charge at you three times, which is easy enough
to avoid. After charging, he'll skid to a standstill, usually with
his back facing you. At this point jump on the rail on his back
(Doing a homing attack works) and you'll grind up his back and
grab the horn on his head.

Now comes the tricky part. Whilst 'riding' him you will need to
steer him into the wall. The most effective way to do this is to
veer off to the side of the wall and then suddenly turn towards
the wall and ram him into it. This may take some practice as the
controls aren't exactly that responsive. Angnix emailed me and
says that you must be running at a certain speed in order to ram
him right.

After two hits into the wall, the Cerberus will launch onto a
platform higher up and jump down, doing a shockwave attack when
he lands. Basically keep repeating ramming him into the wall,
although now you'll need to be quicker. Don't get too close to him
though as he'll do a flaming circle attack if you get near.

A few people have emailed in saying that there is a quicker way to
do this boss, which may well be a glitch. When riding on top, if
you run him into the statue it does twice as much damage, thus
making it possible to defeat the boss in two or three hits. Thanks
to M4sh4d4r and Matthew for pointing that out.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Make sure you ram him into the wall as quickly
as you can when you have a hold of him and make sure you pick up
all the rings. Also there are two 5 coin boxes hidden in the jars
at the edge of the arena to be picked up. Could be a bit tricky.

 6.2) BOSS 2 SILVER THE HEDGEHOG
 ===============================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 6

Beating Silver is easy if you know what to do, and will also
unlock Silver's story to play with.

Silver can be a tricky little git because he'll try to grab you
and throw you either in the air or against a wall. If you get
caught and are thrown straight in the air, then you're pretty
much screwed as he'll just grab you again before you get a chance
to move. If he does grab you and you land near him, quickly do a
homing attack out of his way.

The best way to beat Silver is to run around the area, collecting
rings as you go (There is a ring box on top of some crates as well)
 and when he says "How about this/take this" quickly do a homing
attack or a sliding attack, and after hitting him quickly run away
or do a homing attack out of the way before he has chance to grab
you. Silver will throw items at you, but by running around the
stage you'll easily avoid them. A sliding attack is probably safer
and won't give Silver the chance to bash you.

Another note; the yellow gem used to give you a protective barrier
won't protect if Silver grabs you, although it's still handy for
picking up rings as you dash by.

If possible, try to pan the camera around you so you know roughly
where about he is so you don't run into him.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Grab all of the rings and keep running around
avoiding all his attacks so you don't lose rings. Hear out for
when he is about to attack and dive right in their as quickly as
you can. Don't forget the ring box on top of the crates.

 6.3) BOSS 3 IBLIS PHASE 2
 =========================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 4

Say hello to Iblis, you won't see him again in Sonic's story but
you will be fighting him a bit during Silver's story. This boss
can be a little tricky if you don't know what you're doing, plus
the camera will sometimes pan around which could force you into
lava should you be in mid jump, so be careful.

First off, he'll throw a load of fireballs your way. Get
comfortable with jumping from one platform to another as you'll be
doing this a lot to avoid attacks. He'll then shake the
ground/ceiling as it were and more platforms will appear for you
to jump on. Don't worry about this, it isn't an attack, and the
camera angle makes jumping around difficult anyway. After this,
Iblis will jump in the air and dive through some of the platforms,
destroying them. To avoid this, just jump to a platform far away
from the platform you were on and you should be fine.

Earlier, when more platforms fell down is what you need to reach
the glowy balls in the distance. Iblis will send more fireballs at
you to avoid, but make your way over to a glowy ball that you can
reach. Do a homing attack to light it up than move back a few
platforms, avoiding anymore fireballs. The lit glowy ball will
attract Iblis, but you don't need to light them all, just the one
will do.

Now Iblis will crash into the glowy ball you lit, breaking it.
Here is your chance to whack him. Jump on over to a platform
closest and you'll notice a green eye in his head. Do a homing
attack on that and then you'll go flying off into the air.

When you land Iblis will mess around with the platforms, but don't
bother moving whilst the camera angle is fixed straight ahead,
you'll only end up in the lava. When the camera returns to normal,
he'll dive into some of the platforms again to break them, just
jump out of the way. More fireballs will head your way, so keep
platform hopping.

When the platform comes back again, you'll be able to reach the
glowy eye and repeat bashing in his eye. Repeat the whole process
once more and on the last one you won't need to hit the glowy
balls as he'll come charging towards you. You'll know when cos
Tails will let you know.

For this, just keep jumping from one platform to another to avoid
his charge. When he's finished Tails will say he is dazed. Now you
can get in there and finish him off. Just get to the platform
closest as quickly as you can, cos he won't wait around, and do a
homing attack on his green eye. Sorted!

Phew, that took a while huh?

M4sh4d4r and Angnix have emailed in and pointed out that if you use
Sonic's purple gem, you can reach the glowy balls easier, as the
purple gem allows Sonic to stay in the air by jumping constantly.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: You can't exactly rush through this boss, so
try not to worry about that. As soon as the platforms land for you
to reach the glowy balls, get over there. Make sure you pick up
all the rings and dodge the fireballs to keep a hold of them.

 6.4) BOSS 4 EGG-GENESIS
 =======================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 4

Run around him at a distance so that you can pick up rings and
avoid the rockets that he'll shoot out every so often, sometimes
he'll also try to lock on to you and shoot laser beams, but this
is easily avoided by running around.

Eventually the machine will come to a stand still and robots will
appear just under the machines arms. Use these to get on top of
the machine arms by using a homing attack.

Once you get on top of him, reach the top of the circular head and
when the arrows on his head start to glow, use your bouncing
attack (The X Button) to bash his mechanical brains. After a few
bashes you'll go launching into the sky.

Repeat this once more and the harmless robots before will be
replaced by ones that shoot, but the tactic is still the same. Use
a homing attack to get on top of the Egg-Genesis. However, this
time it'll launch rockets at you whilst you are sitting on top.
Simply jump back and forth between it's remaining arms and the
centre to avoid the rockets, then bounce when the arrows light up.

Do this one more time and he'll come crashing down to earth.
Whilst this is happening, or you need to do is just keep running
around so you avoid it, picking up any stray rings you can see in
time.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: The only real problem is on the second part of
the boss when the rockets attack you when you're on top of the
machine. If you can dodge them and collect all of the rings
without being hit you're on your way.

 6.5) BOSS 5 EGG-WYVERN
 ======================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 7

The Egg Wyvern isn't too bad one you get the hang on it. The only
real problem with this boss is that sometimes the camera can
become quite rigid and force you into accidentally falling to your
doom.

Firstly, he'll lock on to areas on the platform and shoot lasers,
but these are easy to avoid by just standing away from the target.
The tricky part comes next; The Wyvern will charge at you and
you'll need to grab the horn on his head AKA the Egg Cerberus,
which you can grab by using a homing attack. If you have the Red
Gem that slows down things around you slightly, it might come in
handy for this part. M4sh4d4r also emailed and said pointed out
that the white gem could be useful also at this part, as you can
hold your homing attack for when Eggman charges at you.

Once you've grabbed him you'll need to steer the Wyvern into one
of the many falling weapon crates in the sky. This might be a
little tricky and could take a while to get used to.

After that, you'll land back safely on the platform but oh noes!
Dr Eggman will take away parts of the platform. Just stay away
from the platform that he shoots with the needle-like gun thing.

He'll again try to shoot you with more of those silly little
lasers, but before that he'll also shoot you with red coloured
bullets. These are only hard to avoid because it's difficult to
tell where they are coming from and when. Best thing to do is to
keep running around the platform, but not too fast in case you
fall off.

Again, he'll charge at you. Grab on and fly Eggman's ship into a
crate once more and the canopy will go poof. Now things start to
get serious.

Eggman will take away more of the platform and more shots will be
fired your way. This time, instead of randomly shooting off lasers,
 he'll lock on to you. This is easily avoided though, despite the
fact you're quickly running out of room to move. Just don't PANIC
and fall off! Sonic's speed can get him into trouble sometimes.

Now then. Rather than charging at you, Eggman will hover nearby
the platform with two machine gun looking robots and try to shoot
you. If you remember the Egg-Genesis battle then you'll know what
you'll need to do; use a homing attack on the guns to get close to
Eggman in the cockpit and whack him one.

Repeat this once more and you're done. He will take away more of
the platform leaving you with one piece. I'm not sure if he takes
that away too, should you fail to hit him a second time, since
missing Eggman through a homing attack usually means falling to
your death anyways. The last attack he'll do is a charge, so just
jump towards him as he speeds towards you and you're done.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: This one is easy to S Rank. Just go through
the bosses paces, trying to make sure you hit the weapon crates
every time and collecting every ring should do it. Angnix emailed
in and said that this can be S ranked easily without any rings at
all.

Congratulations on beating Sonic's story. You've got Silver
unlocked, so you might as well see what he's all about next!

 ==================
 ==================
 7) SILVER'S BOSSES
 ==================
 ==================

 7.1) BOSS 1 IBLIS PHASE 1
 =========================

HITS TO DEFEAT: About 11 (The fireballs do slightly more damage)

You'll be seeing Iblis again throughout Silver's story, but this
battle will be the easiest by far.

To beat Iblis, all you'll need to do is throw a barrage of objects
aimed at his head, so keep running back and forth along the
platform to pick up items that get scattered. You can't fall off
the platform, so don't feel shy about picking up rings.

First off, Iblis will throw fireballs at you. Just run from one
end of the platform to the other to avoid them, depending on which
side he's aiming his fireballs at. You can pick these fireballs up
to throw back, just remember to aim at his head.

After you've done some damage, he'll then pick up a huge chunk of
rock to squash you with. You can easily avoid this however by
watching the where the shadow of the rock is and just moving away
from the shadow. Every time he does this parts of the rock will be
scattered around for you to use as ammunition. He'll keep throwing
fireballs as well, so keep throwing these back to Mr Iblis. He'll
be ever so grateful.

When he's lost the protection on his face, he'll also breathe fire
occasionally. This can be hard to avoid if you get caught in it,
but you can avoid most of his attacks by hanging around one side
of the platform and then running off to the other side when he
starts to launch an attack.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Avoid his attacks, collect all rings and keep
throwing rocks as fast as you can, making sure you aim well so you
don't waste any.

 7.2) BOSS 2 SONIC THE HEDGEHOG
 ==============================

HITS TO DEFEAT: About 10

If you thought fighting Silver with Sonic was hard, then you'll be
glad to know that this is somewhat easier.

Sonic's main form of attack is his homing attack. If you stand
still and too close, he'll home in on your butt before you can
say "It's no uuuuuusssseeeee". However, you can mostly avoid him
by running around like when you were fighting Silver. The layout
for the fight is the same, even with the box of rings on top of
the crates, so don't forget to pick them up when you get a chance.

Basically run around the stage, pick up objects around (Crates,
barrels etc) and when you're far enough away throw them at Sonic.
asiest way to do this for me was to try and pan the camera around
you to keep Sonic in your sights and then jump in the air and
throw the objects. By throwing them in mid jump you'll be able to
aim at him easier, plus you can float off if you still have some
juice in your energy bar.

Once you hit him with an object, Sonic will become stunned, with
little stars around his head. Use this opportunity to throw more
things at him, but don't get too close. You can actually pick him
up, but you can't attack him this way. Only way to beat him is to
just keep on hurling objects. Angnix emailed in and said that by
holding Sonic you can keep him at arms length and stop him from
causing trouble whilst running around and picking up objects,
which should be useful in picking up rings as well.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Grab as many items as quickly as you can and
throw them at Sonic. Doing this quickly should get you an S rank
even if you lose a few rings. Don't forget the ring box on top of
the crates. I've done this within about 19 seconds just by
throwing objects like crazy and a ring bonus of at least 5 is
needed to just push your score over to S Rank.

 7.3) BOSS 3 EGG-GENESIS
 =======================

HITS TO DEFEAT: About 15

You'll have met the Egg-Genesis before in Sonic's story, but this
time you'll whacking what is underneath, not on top.

Like Sonic, run around the stage avoiding rockets, but pick up
random crates as you go along, stopping to throw them at the glowy
orange part in the middle. You can aim better when closer to it,
and some of the crates are far in anyway, however getting too
close makes the camera kinda overlap you so you can't effectively
see where you are, so be aware of what is happening around.

Robots will randomly appear across the stage, but just ignore
them, unless you're going for a S Rank and want to boost your
score. Just keep on throwing objects at the glowing middle and
it'll be sorted in no time. You can also use these robots as
ammo by using your shock bracelet (Hold X in mid air) to shock
them. Thanks to Stephen for that tip.

When it has been defeated, it'll crash down into the ground. Just
keep on running around to avoid it, picking up any spare rings as
you go.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Getting as close as possible allows you to be
more accurate and do more damage. Attacking the stray robots that
appear can help boost your score as well. Don't forget the rings!

 7.4) BOSS 4 SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG
 ===============================

HITS TO DEFEAT: About 10

The tactics for beating Shadow are pretty much the same as with
Sonic, only Shadow doesn't like to mess around. The layout of the
stage may also disorientate you as it can be hard to keep track of
exactly where Shadow is when train carriages are in the way. The
wooden carriages you can break, although I don't think it helps
much.

As well as using a homing attack, Shadow will also try to stun you
by shooting out his Chaos Spear. If you re-do this boss in the
Trial Mode after gaining all the extra moves and powers with
Shadow, then he'll also use these moves on you too.

As with fighting Sonic, run away from him, jumping in and out of
carriages helps, but always have a good idea of exactly where
about he is, and collect items to throw at him. Again, throwing
items when in mid-jump can help aim them better. Shadow can become
stunned as well, but don't try to pick him up cos he'll do his
spin kick on you.

Just keep sending objects his way.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Just keep throwing objects as quickly as you
can without getting caught. There are ring boxes to the sides of
the platforms above; Hover on boxes or climb on the trains to get
up and get them.

 7.5) BOSS 5 IBLIS PHASE 3
 =========================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 20 (Inc. landing on his head)

I found this boss to be quite easy, and if you take your sweet
time with it you'll find you don't have anywhere left to fight,
although I honestly don't think you'll have that problem.

Iblis will slowly make his way towards the platform you are on,
and this time you can fall off, so be careful. Sticking with
tradition, he'll throw fireballs at you which you'll need to pick
up and throw to at him. As quickly as you can, pick up any objects
that are left lying around the platform you're on and throw them
at him.

Half-way there he'll shoot out a wave of fire laser discs out. You
can avoid them by either jumping over them or staying under them,
depending on how high they are. It might take you a bit of
practice to time it right. He'll shoot two waves full.

Keep on throwing rocks etc at him, but you won't be able to stop
him coming over. He'll now destroy the ends of the platform. Just
stay in the middle of his hands and you'll be fine. But at this
point his head will lower down and you'll be able to float on over
there and use your powers to damage him.

Now, feeling a bit peeved, he'll decide to destroy the entire
platform by throwing a giant fireball at you. As it approaches,
just charge up your power (Hold down the right trigger) and you'll
be able to catch it and throw it right back. Ho hah!

After that, he'll send more fire laser discs your way and come
back over to destroy more of the platforms end. As he approaches,
throw any objects lying around and then stay in the middle of his
hands again. When his head is is bowed down again, jump on top and
do your thing.

Now it'll only take a few more thrown objects to send him back to
Hell.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Pick up and throw as many objects as possible.
Pick up spare rings. Just keep throwing objects as quick as you
can, having rings left over at the end helps.

Congratulations at beating Silver's story! Why not give Shadow a
try now?

 ==================
 ==================
 8) SHADOW'S BOSSES
 ==================
 ==================

 8.1) BOSS 1 EGG-CERBERUS
 ========================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 4

This boss is pretty much exactly the same as Sonic's version, only
with one minor difference. He'll need to be defeated in the same
way as well.

Now, as well as charging about, Mr Cerberus will also jump into
the air and attempt to land on you, which he didn't do when you
were fighting Sonic. Just keep running around to avoid this.

Basically keep repeating this pattern. Don't get too close to him
though as he'll do a flaming circle attack if you get near.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Make sure you ram him into the wall as quickly
as you can when you have a hold of him and make sure you pick up
all the rings. Watch out for his flying-crush attack.

 8.2) BOSS 2 IBLIS PHASE 2
 =========================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 4

This boss battle is exactly the same as Sonic's, so don't mind me
if I just copy and paste that here. Well, I haven't noticed any
differences in Shadow's battle against Iblis anyway, let me know
if you do and I'll credit you. Angnix emailed in and says that the
only difference noticed is that after the second and third hits,
the platforms come down so that you often have to jump over more
lava to reach the lights.

This boss can be a little tricky if you don't know what you're
doing, plus the camera will sometimes pan around which could force
you into lava should you be in mid jump, so be careful.

The lit glowy ball will
attract Iblis, but you don't need to light them all, just the one
will do. Angnix emailed in to say that you can also light the glowy
balls with Shadow's Chaos Spear attack as well.

Sorted!

GETTING A 'S' RANK: You can't exactly rush through this boss, so
try not to worry about that. As soon as the platforms land for you
to reach the glowy balls, get over there. Make sure you pick up
all the rings and dodge the fireballs to keep a hold of them.

 8.3) BOSS 3 MEPHILES PHASE 1
 ============================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 3 constant bashing with Shadow, 21 shot with Omega

This is one of my favourite bosses in the game and comes in two
parts.

The first part is with Shadow, obviously. Lots of Mephiles clones
will appear all around you. What you need to do is attack them all
one by one to fill up your action gauge and using your Chaos Boost.
Just use a homing attack and go from one to the next. Sometimes
they'll all try to dive on you, when that happens just keep
bashing away at the A button and you should be fine. Stephen
emailed me to point out that this happens when Mephiles raises his
hand and spins around.

Once your gauge is filled up, activate it by pressing the right
trigger. Then you'll be able to see the real Mephiles. Now is
your chance to do a homing attack and keep bashing away at that A
button.

Sometimes he'll throw shadowy-energy balls at you, which will
disappear once you hit him and are pretty simple to avoid. Just
keep using homing attacks at him and he'll soon be over for the
time being. If you're not quite quick enough, your action gauge
will run out and you'll need to go through the process of building
it up again.

Now for part two!

Now you'll play as Omega. There is no action guage filling
tomfoolery here. There will be plenty of Mephiles clones flying
around trying to dive bomb you and get in your way. The camera
will always fix on Mephiles, so you'll be able to tell which is
him. Simply run around the stage shooting him (Hold down the X
button to charge up and shoot) which'll also shoot any of his
clones in the way.

Mephiles will shoot out those Shadowy-energy balls in two
different ways; Either shooting them straight towards you, which
you can avoid by running around him, shooting him during the
pauses and the homing shadowy ball of doom that'll chase you
around and will only go away if you hit Mephiles. Just keep on
running around and shooting and it shouldn't take too long.

Now wasn't that fun?

GETTING A 'S' RANK: You can make part one with Shadow quicker by
attacking the random Mephiles clones around to keep your action
gauge filled up so you won't need to waste time filling it up
again, but you'll need to be quick in bashing Mephiles just in
case.

On part two with Omega, simply run around dodging his
clones/energy balls and keep shooting away. Don't forget rings!

 8.4) BOSS 4 SILVER THE HEDGEHOG
 ===============================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 6

This is just like fighting Silver when you're playing as Sonic,
although it'll feel more annoying. Partly because the level layout
can be disorientating.

What you need to do is similar to Sonic's battle; run around the
stage, keeping Silver in your sights if possible, and when he
says "How about this/take this" rush in there and give him a good
whack. Unlike Sonic though, it's hard to quickly use a homing
attack to get out of the way, since bashing the A button keeps
you in the air, available for psychic bondage at Silver's
convenience. However if you time it just right, waiting a second
or so, you can quickly use a homing attack to get out of his way
without ending up being stuck. You can try to land on the ground
and run away whilst he's stunned, but I find he's too quick for me.

A few people have also pointed out that Shadow's spinning attack is
far more effective at whacking Silver, as Shadow's kick doesn't stop
him from moving forward.

So keep running around the stage, jumping in between carriages.
Silver will smash up some of the carriages with the items he
throws, but it'll only make your job easier.

If however you get caught and Silver throws you straight up in
the air, then you're screwed, basically, as most of the time he'll
catch you on the way done and send you to the morgue. If you land
next to him, quickly run away, don't jump. Sometimes he'll throw
you half away across the stage into a wall, which is better in
terms of survival rate. Just grab a ring and keep on moving.

If that boss fight annoyed the heck out of you, then you'll
probably enjoy the next cut scene.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Get all the rings on top of the platform and
the boxes in the air before landing down. Avoid all his attacks so
you don't lose rings. Hear out for when he is about to attack and
dive right in their as quickly as you can and then back out as
well. Wait a second before using your homing attack so you don't
get stuck in the air doing your Chaos Attack.

 8.5) BOSS 5 MEPHILES PHASE 2
 ============================

HITS TO DEFEAT: 5 constant bashing (Takes 5 monsters to build up
your action gauge)

Okay, THIS is my favourite boss battle so far. Mephiles is just
cool and has the whole evil laugh thing going for him. Don't worry,
 you won't have to fight as Omega or Rouge. They just decided to
tag along for the fun of it.

Now, same as Mephiles Phase 1, you'll need to build up your action
gauge, but it'll be a bit quicker this time. Mephiles himself will
fly around for a bit, but you won't be able to attack him at this
stage. Instead he'll say "Drown in darkness" and some big scary
looking shadowy meanies will appear from the ground. They don't
move, but they do shoot laser beams and smack the ground around
them if you're too close. Angnix emailed and pointed out that they
do sink into the ground and pop up elsewhere if you take too long
whacking 'em. I have so much fun with this boss I never even
notice haha.

Basically build up your gauge by whacking these guys. Do a homing
attack on their head and keep bashing away at the A button. It
won't take long to build up your bar, so hit the right trigger
when ready.

Now you'll be faced with multiple Mephiles clones as well as the
guy himself. The camera will focus on him as before, so it
shouldn't be too hard to find him. He'll throw shadowy energy
balls at you, so just run around him and give him a good whack.
Keep running around the stage so that you'll avoid the Mephiles
clones trying to dive bomb you.

After this he'll form a upwards spiral of clones, with him
unreachable at the top as he powers up another shadowy energy
ball. To reach him just do a homing attack from one clone to the
next, working your way up till you can reach him.

Chances are that you won't have killed him by the time your action
gauge runs out. You'll need to kill more of the big meanies to
build up your bar, but they'll be even more about now. Just watch
out for their lasers. Rinse and repeat and Mephiles should be done
with soon enough.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: Attack the random Mephiles clones around to
keep your action gauge filled up so you won't need to waste time
filling it up again, but you'll need to be quick in bashing
Mephiles just in case. Get as many rings as you can.

Congratulations at beating Shadow's story! If you've finished the
other two you will have unlocked the last stage. Have fun!

 ====================================
 ====================================
 9) The End of the World (Last Stage)
 ====================================
 ====================================

 9.1) BOSS 1 SOLARIS
 ===================

HITS TO DEFEAT: On Phase 1, 8 with Silver, 8 with Shadow and 6
with Sonic. On Phase 2 about 10 hits depending on who you use.

Congratulations on reaching the final boss of the game and surviving
the End of the World! This boss is actually easy considering,
although it's also pretty good fun since you'll be playing as the
three super hogs.

Solaris comes in two separate parts that are divided by a loading
screen, but you can't save during the loading screen. Now you'll be
playing as Sonic, Shadow and Silver's super version, there won't be
any running, jumping or ring collecting nonsense. Instead, you'll
be flying around. Use the X button to attack as normal whereas the
A button gives you a boost in whatever direction you are moving.
The right trigger is just as important for Sonic and Shadow in this
fight as you'll need to charge up the action gauge quite regularly.

Also of the most importance is the Y button. This allows you to
switch between the characters (Going from Sonic. to Shadow, to
Silver and Sonic again in that order) which is important not only
for attacking, but also for your ring consumption. Your ring level
will go slowly go down and once it hits zero you die. Solaris'
attacks can take up to 10 rings off your count, so once you reach
10 rings on your count, it is a good idea to switch to another
character. The characters themselves will also warn you if your
ring count is too low. Your ring count will go back up for the
characters not in use, usually to a total of about 48 rings,
although if you cycle through quickly you won't have given them
enough time to build your ring count up.

First off is Solaris part one. Say hello, you'll be whacking him a
fair bit.

You need to attack the middle part of Solaris (The big red ball-
like centre) but his two arms are protecting. Firstly, what you
need to do is throw objects at him using Silver. Solaris will throw
random pieces of rock around so hold down the right trigger to grab
a hold of these and then use the X to throw them back at him, as
you'll be used to. However, you need to keep the right trigger held
down whilst you throw (Which you don't need to do normally)
otherwise you won't throw 'em. Solaris will also shoot off laser
beams. The best way to avoid this is to just keep moving around him
in a circular motion (Hammering the A button to boost helps) and
keep on catching and throwing items. Eventually his hit bar will go
down enough and his arm guard will shatter.

Now it's time to switch over to Shadow, and don't worry, he'll let
you know if you're not sure when to. For his part, you'll be
throwing lots of Chaos Spears at Solaris. The best way to do this,
rather than bashing your X button, is to charge up your action guard
by holding the right trigger. When it's charged up, just press X
and multiple Chaos Spears will head towards Solaris. Again, just
fly around him in a circular motion using Chaos Spears until his
other arm guard has broke.

Now it's Sonic's turn, and he'll also let you know. By pressing the
X button, Sonic will charge towards Solaris. His charge on it's own
is quite slow, but using the right trigger to charge up your action
gauge and then pressing X when full will do a super dash. Keep
flying around Solaris charging up your gauge and then ramming into
Solaris.

That bit was easy, eh? Now for part two.

Now Solaris is going crazy, shooting off laser beams in all
directions, which is probably the only time you'll get hit and need
to switch characters out of survival.

This time you'll need to keep switching back and forth between all
three characters to use their specialised abilities. You'll be able
to do two or three damaging attacks on Solaris before a blue shield
appears blocking your attack. When this happens, switch to another
character and keep on attacking till the blue shield comes up and
you need to switch again, et cetera. As mentioned, the only real
problem here comes from the random lasers, so keep an eye out on
your ring count. Once it gets to about 10 rings, quickly switch to
someone else.

Thanks to Angnix for pointing this out: Solaris' blue shield
appears and blocks attacks only when he isn't attacking himself,
thus you only really need to switch characters when you're low on
rings. She also discovered that she can't seem to attack unless she
attacks with Shadow first, and then she can switch between characters.
Anyone else experience this?

Keep charging up your action gauge for Sonic and Shadow for
powerful attacks and keep throwing rocks with Silver and you'll
soon have him beat down.

GETTING A 'S' RANK: There are no rings to collect or enemies to hit
and build up your score, so just do the boss as quickly as you can
to get that S Rank. You DO actually get a ring bonus for the rings
you have left over, so when you're about to do the finishing blow,
switch to someone with the most rings to take advantage of that.

Congratulations on completing the game! Enjoy the well earned ending!
