Introduction --------------------------------------------------------------------- Most guides will bore you with more information about the songs than the thing you need to know most: how to beat the song. There is no quick way to do it, as I shall reveal. I am simply doing the guide because my Xbox 360 is currently getting fixed(got to love that Ring of Death) and I need something remotely Guitar Hero related to tide me over. And yes, I am addicted, and I think Harmonix need to put a warning on the box - this game will steal your life. :) --------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. About the Guitar and Game --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. The Game -------------------- Incase you do not know about the game, it is quite simple, as all the best games are. The notes scroll along the bottom and you have to press the relevant colour note and strum. Easy enough? Wait until you get to expert pal... 2: The Guitar -------------------- The buttons on the guitar: (From the top of the Guitar down) Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange. Strum Bar - Strums Notes and Navigates Menus Whammy bar - Distorts Pitch Start - Pauses the Game Back - Goes Back A Menu - Activates Star Power Xbox Guide button - Goes to the Xbox Guide Blade Headphone Jack - If for some reason you wanted to plug in your microphone. Would not know why you would though. Pretend you are singing perhaps? :P Ethernet Jack - For as-yet unannounced extra periphials e.g. Effects pedal. 3: Difficulties -------------------- Easy - Uses only Green, Red and Yellow. Slow, few chords Medium - Uses Green, Red, Yellow and Blue. Has more notes and more chords. Hard - Uses Green, Red, Yellow, Blue and Orange. More notes, more chords, and 3 Note chords. Chords no further apart than Green - Blue. Expert - Uses Green, Red, Yellow, Blue and Orange. Faster and more difficult than Hard, all rules are out. Sometimes it may include a Green, Blue, Orange chord, such as in "Dead!" and "The Trooper". 4: The Whammy Bar ------------------------------- The Whammy Bar is a real-life object found on some guitars. It distorts pitch. And it does the same in game too. It does not affect point score - it may look it but I promise it does not. On Star Power Notes which you can use the whammy bar on (i.e. long notes). 5: Star Power -------------------- If you have played the game you may have noticed some star shaped notes. If you hit all the star shaped notes which appear then you will gain star power, as indicated by the star power meter, above your Rock Meter. What it does, is, when activated by pressing either select or tilting the guitar up, it will increase score, thus for harder sections it will allow you to miss more notes as your rock meter will increase more per note. 6: Hammer-Ons and Pull Offs ------------------------------------------- Notes that appear with a white top will allow a "Hammer-On" or "Pull Off". If you hit the previous note before the note with white top then you can then hit the next note WITHOUT strumming. This REALLY helps for the harder songs where your hand will feel like it is gonna fall off. On the earlier difficulties you will not have to worry about it; I learnt it myself when I started Expert. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. How to Beat Any Song --------------------------------------------------------------------- You probably came here first didn't you :D Well, follow my simple rules and you will be able to beat any song. 1. Practise. Practise. Practise. PRACTISE! 2. Do not get too annoyed with a song. Rather than keep pressing repeat, why not do some other songs, maybe do the Bass or Rhythm of the song you are stuck on so you can really "learn" the song. 3. Do not give up. If you leave it a few weeks, you will be even worse at the game. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Multiplayer --------------------------------------------------------------------- On this amazing game, you can play against your friends! H ere are the different gameplay types.. Cooperative - You can play a song together. One person plays Lead, the other Rhythm or Bass. Players select their own difficulties. Face-Off - You play against each other, but with the potential of different difficulties. You are playing for highest score. A meter shows whether you are winning or not. Pro Face-Off - You play DIRECTLY against each other, on the same difficulty. This seperates the men from the boys. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Xbox Live Support --------------------------------------------------------------------- There may be in the next Guitar Hero, but in this there is none. But, there is an online leaderboard for each song and overall! --------------------------------------------------------------------- 8. Guitar Hero FAQ --------------------------------------------------------------------- - When moving on to Hard or Expert, how should I have my hand? It depends how you like it. For me, I use my four fingers Green-Blue then move down to Red-Orange accordingly. You decide how you want to. - What is HyperSpeed? If you go on any online personal video website looking for "100% Song X" most will be on HyperSpeed mode. It is a cheat, and it makes the notes scroll faster but are more spaced out, making playing easier. - My Cheat Is Not Working... Why? One of two explanations. One - you're using a PS2 code. The 360 Guitar Hero codes are different Two - You're doing it too slowly or too quickly. Keep trying...
