===============================================================================

Version 0.3.....Started the guide, got as much as I could get done, just sort
of wanted to get it up. Will try to work as hastily as possible
but I am doing this as I go. Got as much of career as I could
get done. Don't worry I will also add the course listing with
specific tips for each one as well as more information. There
is a lot of missing or incomplete information, I know, it is
missing for a purpose, it will be all filled in within a few
		days.

Version 0.5.....Update! Yay! Completed the car list, the Exhibition section
added more events that I have completed. I'm working on doing
track information, with details on shortcuts, how to hit each
turn and such. I have a lot of the level rewards done, but not
in here yet. I'm sorry for it not being done yet, but I'm
waking up early and going to sleep early and trying to get as
much done, but I work and have other hobbies. I do appreciate
the comments and compliments! I will also add a tuning section
                thanks to AMDZFan.

Version 0.75....Been awhile, thought I would throw up what I have gotten done,
most everything is near completion, should be done within a
week or two fully, including track details, tuning and
                whatever else. Enjoy.

Intro FM2-02
===============================================================================

Just a quick introduction. Name is Matt, I love to write walkthroughs and have
recently been doing it more often. I'm big into racing and love to work on cars
so naturally a racing game is something I am quite fond of. I decided to do a
walkthrough for this game since I like it a lot.

Really great game. As for this walkthrough, since there are many different cars
that you can use for each event, but I will give as much information, tips and
insight on what car I used as well as anything else that can help.

Also, I will let you know what my set up is. I have no driving line aid on at
all, difficulty at Hard, shifting on manual and damage on simulation. I get a
30% bonus for difficulty, the max being 50% but 30% is fine with me and it
makes racing a bit easier. Use whatever you would like, the information
throughout the walkthrough is based on my stats so it possibly may be easier or
harder for you.

If there are any concerns, questions, comments...etc feel free to email or
message me. Contact information at the end of this guide.

Overview of Forza Motorsport 2 FM2-03
===============================================================================

Being a huge fan of racing games and racing in general of course I would like
this game. It came as a bit of a suprise though, since I never played the first
Forza game. I like the controls, I like playing with a steering wheel, but I am
not too fond of shelling out $150 for it, but the controls make it easy to
accelerate while shifting, which Gran Turismo never did correctly.

On top of that, the graphics are top notch, the gameplay is top notch as well.
I like the damage that you can inflict on your car and engine/components. It
makes me, and I'm sure others, drive more fairly and safely since you don't
want credits deducted as well to not mess up your engine mid-race.

The only issue I really have with it is they have no in game music, yeah I know
I can set my Xbox up to stream, but I liked that about Gran Turismo, they had
tracks that you really didn't hear outside of Gran Turismo and it was cool to
have them in there.

Overall I really like the game, I highly recommend it and can't wait to get
into the online play, but I'm busy working on this guide and Career/Arcade.

If I was to rate it I'd definitely give it a 10/10.

===============================================================================
Controls FM2-04
===============================================================================

Standard controls are as follows:

A - E-brake
X - Gear Down
Y - Look Back
B - Gear Up
RT - Accelerate
RB - Change camera
LT - Brake
LB - Damage/Heat HUD
Left Stick - Steering
Right Stick - Free look
D-Pad - Up/Down turns Telemetry on

Telemetry provides real time stats, like PSI of boost, how hot each wheel is,
how many G's you are pulling...etc.

===============================================================================
Tips FM2-05
===============================================================================

The easiest way to earn credits is to find a good paying race, preferably easy
as well, one where you can lap or nearly lap the opponents on hard. Then turn
off all driving aids and just take it a bit slower and win the race. If the
base pay is $10,000 credits, you will get that, plus a bonus $5,000 if you have
all the driving aids off and the difficulty on hard. Plus any rarity bonus for
your car.

If there is a particular company you like more then others, try to level
several of that brands car. Each brand has their own discounts and if you level
several of that companies cars the discounts stack.

When driving, if you fall behind, try to draft to get ahead of opponents. To
draft, stay directly behind the car in front of you, it will give you a slight
boost in speed because of the aerodynamic benefits of it. This can help propel
you ahead of them and can be useful if you fall behind on your last lap.

To get the most out of your car, tune it to the specific races you will use it
for. For example, for shorter races you may want to increase your gearing for
acceleration compared to speed and vice versa. There are a lot more benefits
you can get by individually tuning your cars, it does take a lot of trial and
error to get the perfect setup.

Though sometimes they may look cheesey or downright dumb, body kits and wings
can increase your car's stats as well as give you the benefits of a better
aerodynamic car.

As stated in the loading menus, when coming out of a turn, carefully ease on
the accelerator, putting too much acceleration in will cause the car to
slightly lose control, which will slow you down more than it will help you and
in some cases can cause you to head off track depending on the turn. Same goes
for when coming into a turn, if you are trying to put too much acceleration in
a turn, it can worsen the turn causing you to lose a lot of speed and
stability.

Though this should be known, when going into a tight turn where you need to
slow down a lot, for example going from 5th gear to 2nd or 1st, carefully ease
on the brake and then fully apply. If you slam on it, or for the matter the
button, your brakes will lock up, causing you to lose control of the car and
can ultimately cause you to go off course.

Lastly, a good idea early on, is when you encounter a longer, or more
sophisticated track is to use the braking lines and maybe just do a quick run
through. You can learn the turns, what speed youshould enter them at...etc
then youcan turn off the braking line and get the 10% bonus while knowing the
track well.

===============================================================================
Arcade Mode FM2-06
===============================================================================

Arcade mode provides three options. Exhibition, which has a total of 15 races.
Every race is locked except the first one, so you have to work your way up.
Each win unlocks a few new cars that are locked in free play.

The second option is Time Trial, which is exactly how it sounds, to set the
best time on a specific course with a specific car. Each car is usually a high
end car. Once the time trial is beat, you unlock the car you were using.

Lastly there is Free Play, which allows for you to play any specific course
with any car you have unlocked. This can be used for practice as well as just
to have some fun.

===============================================================================
Arcade Mode: Exhibition FM2-06-01
===============================================================================

To reiterate, I cannot tell you how to choose your car here, or what to do on
each track, but I will provide information about each race and about exhibition
in general to help you complete this.

Exhibition is similar to Career mode racing, minus a few things. Firstly you
are able to choose any car class and car. This means from D to R1, as long as
it is unlocked. Though you can choose from the R cars, I mainly stuck with my
Career mode D-400 Sprinter Trueno since it was quick and ensured me a win,
though for some races I did use a better car.

The main cars I used were:

2004 Toyota #35 Yellow Hat YMS Supra - R3
1985 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex - D-245 (Upgraded to D-400 and tuned in
                                             Career mode)
1998 Ferrari #12 Risi Competizione F333 SP - R1

I used some others, but nothing really notable.

Whichever you choose, you are paired with opponents of the same class, so you
never really have an advantage overall, but you can choose a car that performs
better on several levels that is in the top of its class and it will be paired
with the same class cars and pretty much give you the upper hand. On top of
this, there is no damage (engine or body) at all in exhibition, so if you want
you can slam into opponents, or if you are unlucky and hit a wall or something
mid-race, no worries.

Lastly you choose the settings you prefer, it allows you to choose the three
driving aids, braking/acceleration line, and manual or automatic settings. Now
normally I drive without the assist line with manual and with STM off, but here
I did it more for comfort and had it automatic, braking line, and all aids on.
Choose what you would like, no bonuses or losses for choosing more or less
aids.

Last thing, when you win a race, there are three winning positions. First,
which awards you a Gold medal and all 3 cars for that race, second, which
awards you a Silver medal and the Silver/Bronze car, and third, which awards
you the Bronze medal and only the Bronze car. If you complete all the races
and get gold on all of them you will complete all three achievements (All Gold,
All Silver, All Bronze).

There are a total of 15 races in exhibition mode, each is locked except the
first one. To unlock each one you must beat the unlocked one and it will allow
you to continue to the next race.

Now onto the race information.

===============================================================================
Arcade Mode: Time Trial FM2-06-02
===============================================================================

As expected, this is all about getting the fastest lap. It has a total of 25
races. The times aren't too hard to beat, though sometimes you may need to do
a second lap to beat the time, or if you don't make it the first time, you will
almost likely get it the second time around, due to you starting at a much
higher speed then you did before. Each race will unlock one car, the car that
was used for that race, most being either S class or R class.

Though most are easy, Nrburgring can be a pain. If you are unfamiliar with
this course, you will either love or hate it. It is a long course, even for a
fast car the laps can be nearly 7 or 8 minutes in time per lap. The request
for this one is hard to do, at least for me. The main issue is the length of
the the track, the number of turns and sharp turns that you can easily mess up
on. I've had several times where I'm running perfectly up for about 5-6 minutes
then near one of the last turns I try to speed up a bit to make sure I beat the
target time, then I make an error and head of course causing me penalty time.
I finally beat it after about a half hours work, I had to do it on my second
lap, but I did clear it by about 15 seconds...though the top score on LIVE
scares me. Low 6 minutes, which is amazing.

===============================================================================
Career Mode FM2-07
===============================================================================

In career mode you build your way up from the lowest of the low to the top end
model cars and prototypes. You get to choose your region of choice, North
America, Asia, or Europe and build up from there.

There are several different types of races, everything from endurance races
which are long multiple lap races to specific races, like factory spec races
which pit you against the computer, all running the same car and specs.

Also, there is a driver and car level thing incorporated. The driver level
unlocks certain bonuses, like new cars from certain dealers, discounts from
your region's cars, and many other things, while car levels provide specifc
discounts on items, like clutches, transmissions...etc for that and a few other
dealers, these bonuses stack so several of the same companies car leveled up
will provide greater discounts.

===============================================================================
Career Mode: Starting Your Career FM2-07-01
===============================================================================

Ah, finally starting Career mode...but where to start?

You get to choose from Europe, North America, or Asia as your region, once you
choose your region you have a little over $10,000 Credits to spend on your
first car. In all honesty, you can choose how you would like, it is more about
your opinion on what region you want to start in.

The key thing to remember though, when you choose your region, those are the
level bonuses they will go towards, so when you go up a driver level, it will
give you discounts on cars, but only on that regions cars. So if you are fan
of European cars, may be a good start in Europe...etc.

I chose Asia, mainly because it has MY car.

My starting car was the Honda CR-X SiR, which I felt was a good buy. From the
start of the game to about 30% completion I was able to go through without
having to buy any new cars, I was able to use my main car, the CR-X to win
several events, which gave me other cars that fell into the other categories
which allowed to continue completing...etc.

Again, the choice is yours, but choose wisely, only way to change your region
afterwards is to pay $100,000 credits.

===============================================================================
Career Mode: Proving Grounds FM2-07-02
===============================================================================

short. Not to bad to start your career on, get a few cars and a decent amount
of credits.

Not a very hard event, the only issue is finding a car to use for it. There are
only several cars that come over the weight limit that you can get. I just
waited and got a 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. The tracks are all pretty simple
still, the opponents are a bit harder, but it is still fairly easy with a good

A step up to the lower league. Here we have more specific races, like only V12,
or that the car must be boosted or normally aspirated. These races all use the
real tracks and not the test tracks like the Proving Grounds. The tracks are
decent, not too long or short, the opponents are the same, not hard, but not
too easy.

Requirements: Driver Level 20, Car engine type must be V8.

Total Races: 4

This is a pretty decent race, nice amount of laps, good tracks, good cars.
Nothing you can get more out of this event. Some key notes is the corkscrew
turn on Laguna Seca, a killer if you don't brake. On road Atlanta be sure to
brake properly for the small turn near the beginning (it is after your first
turn to the right). Nothing too crazy about Sebring or New York, just some
sharp turns, just make sure you brake properly. I used my 1969 Camaro Z28 which
had a powertrain swap and the rest of the upgrades making it a S class which
made this pretty easy.

all of the Test Tracks pieced all in ones, a lot of turns, a lot of sharp
turns and it is long.

Ah finally a good test of skill, at least for me. You have some decent tracks,
good amount of laps, and mixed in are some good cars. I had the same car as the
top opponent and there were some close races. This event, if using the same
car as I did, is more about how to handle the track then it is about who is the
fastest. Just remember the corkscrew on Laguna Seca and the 2nd turn on
Road Atlanta. New York is in reverse which can be a bit annoying for the first

Pretty simple event again, similar to the 150 hp event. I used the same car I
used in the D-Series events and in the 150 hp event, my beloves Sprinter
Trueno. Was able to get it to 199 hp and C-549 for class, so I can use it for
the C-Series races and this event. Easy tracks, small laps, easy event all
around.

I used a Lotus Exige Cup 240, which is won from the factory spec race with the
Exige. I think it is one of the best choices, it is a B-700 car and comes at
244 HP, I put the Race Intercooler on which bumped it to 248 and then I put all
the other upgrades on (weight, brakes...etc) gave it a quick tune and took it
to the event. The courses are fairly short too, so if you tune it, it is best
to tune for acceleration over top speed.

This was a pretty good event in my opinion. The 997 GT3 really is a killer car
and can give you a good run for your money, it has a great acceleration in
first and second and handles pretty good. I used a A-850 VIS Acura Integra
Type-R which had 447 hp. It outhandled and outperformed the others, but usually
the GT3 would start the beginning of each track slightly ahead, but after that
they got blown away.

Wow, this event showed me a whole different side to a car that I didn't expect
much out of. I bought and upgraded/tuned a Pagani Zonda for this event and wow.
I would suggest no other car for this event, the 450 hp (it comes stock with
420 hp), the 600, and the 700 hp events. It handles like a race car without
being a race car class, it has great accelerating, braking, everything. The
tracks aren't too bad, getting a bit longer now, but still easy.

Though I expected this to be more of a challenge then the previous one, it
wasn't. I was keeping a larger distane with the McLaren here then I did with
the Saleen from the last event. The only hard part about this event is the
tracks. They are longer and they throw in the King Cobra track as well as the
Nrburgring track, which is crazy long. I used the Pagani Zonda C12 here once

Event 8: Ultimate Tuner Challenge
_________________________________

Requirements: Driver Level 30, Car must be a Skyline or Supra.

Total Races: 4

This event is pretty good, putting the two top tuner cars one on one. The top
two cars can be a real annoyance, great horsepower and torque and they just go
quick on the straight, but they have bad handling/braking so you can make up
for it on most of the tracks (except for Nissan Speedway, I busted out my
VeilSide supra here). For the rest I used my R3 Yellow Hat Supra, I prefer
handling/braking over speed. The tracks aren't too bad, you even get the Nissan
Speedway which is money in the bag. If you want to gain easy credits, I suggest
building a VeilSide Supra or any Supra/Skyline and just race that track. Full
bonuses and payout is like 40k for 1st and it is an easy course. I could do it
in under 6 minutes so that is like 400,000 credits in an hour if I wanted. The
other biggie is the King Cobra track which is all about quick acceleration,
good braking, and good handling.

Ah, an event that can be quite tricky. The top two cars here will really mop
the floor with you on the straights. I would suggest a Hennessey Viper or a
Lingenfelter on some of these tracks, though not the best handling, it is hard
to keep up with anything else. Personally, I used my upgraded/tuned
Lingenfelter here. I would suggest the same, or to use the Hennessey Viper.
The courses are all pretty easy, the hardest being the King Cobra, which is
where I might suggest to use a R4 viper or Corvette if you have one, since the
handling and braking is key there.

Event 4: Stars and Stripes B-Class Championship
_______________________________________________

Requirements: Driver Level 20, Car must be from North America and be class B.

Total Races: 4

This is a pretty good event, the best thing I like about it is that they put
all North American tracks in it, which sort of makes a cool combo since it is
a North American race event. Overall, not too bad, my suggestion for a car
would be to use an Esperante GTLM or whatever you have that you can get high
on the B-class spectrum. I personally when with the IS430 Project, with a bunch
of upgrades everything, but it doesn't handle all that great. Overall the
courses are pretty short and most are dependent on handling/braking.

Not many cars fit the bill for this tournament, which can really limit your
choices and preference of car. I used the TVR Tuscan S since I had it in my
garage from the Factory Spec event. I did some minor upgrades (tires, engine
upgrades...etc) to get it to A-850 and used it here. It performed well, but
wasn't blowing the competition out of the water. The tracks here are nicely
done, you have 2 long tracks with a decent amount of laps, and 2 smaller
tracks with a high amount of laps, which makes for a nice combo.

Here I used the Ford GT with some minor upgrades and a small tune. The AI still
gave a good run for the money since I didn't have too high of an upper hand,
but I did have slightly better handling/braking compared to the others. Overall
the event isn't too bad, all the courses are pretty easy, but can be hard
because the opponents keep close.

This is a pretty good event. The cars stock are fairly decent and you can
choose one and still have room for some upgrades. I would suggest to use an
upgraded Enzo Ferrari or Pagani Zonda here. I used the Enzo since I had it
set up for this event as well as the other S class events. The tracks aren't
too bad, but the Maserati MC12 is a quick one.

I used my #35 JGTC Supra here (the yellow hat supra) and it was pretty decent.
I did tune the gear ratios, but other then that I left it alone since R class
cars are pretty well tuned to begin with. The tracks are all fairly decent,
except the Nissan Speedway which is flat out easy. All around the event is
somewhat easy, the only difficulty is the opponents. Since they are all of the
R class type as well, there isn't really much of a difference between each car.
I mean there are small differences, but nothing grand. So you do need to stick
it to the competition here and outperform them here.

Another R class event, there are a decent amount of R class North American cars
and the main ones are the Corvettes. Here I used the same as the #1 opponent,
which was the Corvette C6.R R2 car. I actually bought it and did a small tune
on it, but nothing major. It handles really well and same with its acceleration
and top speed. All around, the event is a bit harder, longer tracks and more
laps as well as better opponents.

Ah, the peak of the regionals. This is where the best R1 cars and the longest

reason. Overall this is a pretty tough event, you have all the fast cars

Ah the beloved Factory-Spec races, where it is all about skill. A highly
upgraded car or a fine tune will not pull you ahead here. You are competing
against the competition, all with the same car, the stock tune, no upgrades at
all! Some of the smallest mistakes can cause a loss here because you don't have
the upper hand with a high amount of horsepower and such. My suggestion is to
just take the turns a bit slower then normal and do your best to go as fast as
you can without sacrificing stability.

Not a bad first Factory Spec race, though it can be annoying because this car

In all honesty, this is probably the hardest event I've had for awhile. The car
is decent in the speed department, but it oversteers like no other car, it can
be hard to handle when you are used to better cars. It also only has 4 gears
which constantly threw me off (I'd sit there constantly trying to gear up when
I'm maxed at 4th). The tracks are somewhat long for this car and some errors

A good event, longer laps and tracks, you get to race the Nrburgring here
which is always fun. I didn't like the car much, not too big of a fan of
Ferraris all around and this one just seems too heavy and a little more
sluggish then some other cars. I overbraked a lot, because if I went through

Finally into the championship races. Here is where it all matters, its all
about who has the most points at the end of the tournament. In my opinion
these are where you want to handle your car well, though you should always, do
so, it is more important here. A slipup can cost a race, a race can cost the
tournament. You do the math.

Here is how the point scheme goes:

10 points for 1st
7 points for 2nd
5 points for 3rd
4 points for 4th
3 points for 5th
2 points for 6th
1 points for 7th
0 points for 8th

Now go make mama proud!

Career Mode: Endurance Races FM2-07-10
===============================================================================

This is what racing is all about, who can win not by skill and speed alone, but
proper pit stops, proper tuning, tires, set up, as well as the overall
endurance of the racer. By far my favorite races, these races are endurance
because you do the 1 track for a high amount of laps. Most endurance races will
run over 45 minutes minimum, there are longer ones. Though longer, they can be
much more better over the other events. Each one nets you nearly $150,000
credits with 1st place, rarity, and difficulty bonuses, then you get a generous
amount of credits for completing the event.

Get your favorite beverage ready, grab a snack, put on a long CD and get ready
to race!

Event 1: Tsukuba Class D Grand Prix
___________________________________

Requirements: Driver Level 20, Car class must be D.

Total Races: 1

A good place to start for endurance races. A short, easy to handle course, not
that many laps and the lowest class of cars. I used a souped up Sprinter
Trueno, using just enough mods to keep me at D-400, which is the max before you
go to C. I didn't pit once, though I could have, but felt like it wasn't
necessary. I lapped everyone once and few of the others twice. Pretty basic and
very good payout.

Track 1 - Tsukuba Circuit - 45 Laps

Opponents:

1 - Vauxhall Astra - D-398
2 - FTO Version R - D-394
3 - Toyota Celica - D-390
4 - Honda Civic R - D-388

Event 2: Class C Grand Prix of Laguna Seca
__________________________________________

Requirements: Driver Level 20, Car class must be C.

Total Races: 1

Pretty easy endurance race, plus you get the fun course of Laguna seca. If you
don't already know how to handle the corkscrew well, you will either learn now,
or need to learn before you come here. I used my Sprinter Trueno here, it was
a good car for the race, everything else was far behind and the Cadillac CTS-V
was the only one who put up anything close to a fight. At the end of lap 15 I
was at 41% wear in the back, 38% in the front, 50% fuel left. I had the stock
tire compound as well. I pitted at lap 21 going on 22, was running really low
on fuel and tires were about 70% worn down by this point. I took the advantage
of going three laps after my closest opponent, that way I keep a decent lead.
Just keep an eye out, you may run lower earlier or may not need to pit at all.

Track 1 - Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca - 30 Laps

1 - Cadillac CTS-V - C-549
2 - Elise 111S - C-540

Event 3: Maple Valley B-Class Grand Prix
________________________________________

Requirements: Driver Level 25, Car class must be B.

Total Races: 1

This isn't too bad of a course and the whole race can be a bit shorter then the
previous ones because you have a better car here. The opponents are a bit
better, but with the right car they aren't a big issue. I used a upgraded and
finely tuned Subaru 22B here, I got it to B-700 and it was the perfect car for
the job.

Track 1 - Maple Valley Raceway - 25 Laps

Opponents:

Event 4: Silverstone Class A Grand Prix
_______________________________________

Requirements: Driver level 25, Car class must be A.

Total Races: 1

Not a very hard endurance, a bit long even with A class cars, but the course is
a fun one in my opinion. Be aware though, a lot of turns can send you of track
and really screw you over because a lot of the off-track area is the sticky
type of floor so you will get slowed down to below 50 mph. Other than that it
wasn't too difficult. I used my upgraded/tuned VIS Integra Type-R and only had
to pit once, around lap 20 (though if I wanted to, I could of made it the whole
way through with no pit.)

Event 5: Mugello Supercar Grand Prix
____________________________________

Requirements: Driver Level 30, Car must be class S.

Total Races: 1

Not too bad of an event, I used my Pagani Zonda with some upgrades here and got
it to S-998, which is the highest you can get. All around it isn't a bad
course, but I don't like it all that much. I pited at lap 15, just over halfway
through the race, wear was around 80% on all sides. Starting to get a bit more
challenging in terms of races.

Track 1 - Mugello Autodromo Internazionale - 25 Laps

Event 9: Sunset Peninsula Grand Prix
____________________________________

Requirements: Driver Level 45, Car must be class R2.

Total Races: 1

This one seemed a little more daunting then the others, a good 40 laps which
can sound a bit worse then it is. Again an R class race which can be tough all
around, but I found it fairly fun. Nice course and the laps were fairly short,
running 1:22-1:24 on most laps. I pitted after lap 15 and lap 30, felt like a
good time since I had about 30% fuel left and was up to 80% wear all around on
my tires. I used my Maserati #15 MC12 for this event.

Track 1 - Sunset Peninsula Infield - 40 Laps

FAQ FM2-10
===============================================================================

Q: Is there a way to play the in-game tracks while in a race.

A: Unfortunately not, the only thing to do is stream from your Xbox your own
music, or find another way to play your own music.

Q: I keep fishtailing or spinning out when I am cornering or going through a
   turn. Why?!

A: The most common reason is because the car is a RWD car and you are
accelerating too much causing oversteer. It is just basic physics and this
happens in real life with RWD cars as well. The best explination is because
of oversteer, which means that when you go through a turn instead of
following what a normal turn would be, you turn too much into the turn
causing you to fishtail, which again is normally caused by accelerating too
   much in a RWD car.

Other then that, it may just be a bad tune (if you tried to do so) or
several other factors, but this is the major reason why.
