A1 . ABOUT EGO BOOSTS

This is probably not a necessary read, but I believe I should include a few
notes about the game mechanics.
Duke Nukem's ego is obviously so inflated it also manages to protect him from
serious harm; Stopping bullets, claws, psionic blasts, rockets, etc. However,
it does have limits, thus it is essential to find a means to further enlarge
Duke's ego.
That is where this guides comes into play. This guide will discuss what all
the ego boosts are, and where to find them.
- There are many items/events Duke Nukem can interact with in-game that to help
him raise his ego. Such examples include:
* Winning at video games
* Exercising and sports-related activity
* Certain kinds of eye candy (Calendars, magazines, etc.)
* Defeating powerful bosses
- All Ego Boosts can be obtained during one play-through of the game.
- Some Ego Boosts can be found in more then one place (for instance, the one
on the computer monitors may be found at four different places). However, a
player can only claim an Ego Boost once.
- It does not matter what difficulty the player plays at to earn Ego Boosts.
Once a player has earned one during a play-through, it stays. This is
helpful for getting through the "Damn, I'm Good" difficulty.
- When a player starts a "New Campaign", the Ego Bar will reset.
NOTES:
- There are no actual "names" for the Ego Boosts. I simply came up with some
to help identify what they are.
- In the "SORTED BY MISSIONS" section, some of the Ego Boosts are marked with
a "-- NEW!" tag. This represents the first time they appear in-game.

There are 34 boosts in total, each adding 1-4 points. This gives players 60 to
expand their Ego with, which can bring the combined total to 100 Ego points.

After the 'Jerk' has been dealt with, exit and go through the hallway. First
door on the right is the Makeup Room. There is a mirror in there. Along
the same hallway on the first left is the Bathroom. There is a mirror in
there, too.

There are mirrors in the Bathroom and Dressing Room.
THE DUKE BURGER
Head on up and open the door to the bathroom. The mirror is inside.

NOTES:

Going through the hallway after dealing with the 'Jerk' on the first left
is a washroom.
DUKE NUKEM'S TITTY CITY
This establishment comes with a bathroom. It's runs along a small
corridor, in front of the Show Room.
THE DUKE BURGER
Head on up and open the door to the bathroom. The facilities are inside.
GENERATOR ROOM

Exit the elevator. Walk down the stairs, open the door along the corridor.
2nd door on your left is a lounge with a kitchen. The kitchen has a
microwave. To earn this, you can either use a bag of microwave popcorn or
a rat hiding in one of the cupboards.
DUKE NUKEM'S TITTY CITY
You need to earn this one to continue with the game. It is unavoidable.
There are microwaves in the Staff Room and the Dressing Room. There is
sufficient popcorn nearby both of them. You will automatically earn this,
as you need a bag of popped popcorn for your 'Role-playing Gag'.

In the next ambush room (with the Steroids), there are machines along the
walls you can play.

Room.

You need to earn this one to continue with the game. It is unavoidable.
Follow the linear path until you reach the destroyed road where the EDF
soldiers chat about going through the sewers to reach the Duke Dome. The
Battlelord will show up after a bunch of enemy drops.

What do do: Use a photocopier and make a copy of Duke's ass.

Inside the Portable (The ones the Pig Cops eventually flip on you) there is
copier. This must be done before the Pig Cops flip the portable. Also,
the photocopier can be destroyed.

The photocopier is found in the office that is locked by a security code.
The entrance to the room can be found behind the bar in the Show Room.
Access Code is 4768.

THE HIVE: PART 1
You will find your first set next to the Holsom Twins. There is another
set in the next room, near where the three captured babes are held.
THE HIVE: PART 2
In next room after you start the level (with the claws on one side and the
pods on the other) there are two sets. One is to your left as you enter.
The other is to your right as you leave.
The next sets can be found when you find your first chick (After the puzzle
with the bug and the Octobrains attacking you), There are 2 sets of Wall
Boobs. In the next room, there are 3 sets: 2 in the upper area and 1 in
the lower.
QUEEN BITCH
After the doors (blocking your path) have been blown off, look the the left
and find a set of wall boobs.
UNDERGROUND
In the room with the fire (at the start), to the left is a door leading to
an infested room. The Wall Boobs are on the left.

In the office area, you will find a desk, storage items, a phone, etc.
Several paper airplanes are on the desk.
UNDERGROUND
After the generator is destroyed and a long set of stairs is climbed, an
office can be found. Several airplanes are along the right side of a wall,
on a desk.
BLOWIN' THE DAM: PART 2
After defeating the "Monkey" and slipping under the gate before it closes,
move into the office area where you meet up with three Berserk Pigcops
(and the guy who is tragically killed by one of them). Once they are
dead, jump onto the large pressure tank and then onto the pipe that sticks
out of it. You will want to be looking in the direction of the exit
door. You will see part of the duct work that has been blown off and two
pipe ends sticking out of the wall. Jump onto the lowest pipe end, and
make your way onto the duct work. Jump onto the long duct work along the
wall and walk to the end, turn left, jump over to the next duct work and
see the paper airplane at the far end.
Congratulations. You have found the single-most annoying Ego Boost in the
entire game.

large Pig Cop, the calendar is on the left side.

Where to find it:
THE FORKSTOP
In the room where you flip the switch to turn on the power so the gate can
be opened is a magazine on the shelf. It is 'somewhat' behind the door as
you enter.
BLOWIN' THE DAM: PART 2
This one can be a bit tricky to earn. At the very start of the level
there is the escape to the far left and a fenced in area on the far
right. You will have to wait until debris hits the floor on the far
right, jump onto it and over the fence. The water level will be rising,
but you can still pick the magazine off the floor. The tough part will be
escaping. You will have to wait until the water level rises high enough
so you can get out of the fenced area, swim over to the far side, then
dive down, go through the small door and swim up the staircase. You
should be able to accomplish this without drowning.

This entire run was done from scratch, without looking at other FAQs or videos.
The intention was to try and find any and all possible means of earning ego
boosts. I figure, "If I can find them, anyone should be able to, eventually".

you can pick up the dumbbells in "The Duke Cave".
- Finally found the last two Ego Boots in BLOWIN THE DAM': PART 2 and have
listed descriptions on how to find them (I have no idea why they made
these so tedious to find when they are much easier to find in other areas
of the game).
- Found and fixed several typos, including one in "UP IN SMOKE".
- Found an error in "CATCH!". The first location was incorrect. It should
be "CRASH SITE", not "DUKE NUKEM'S TITTY CITY"
- Managed to calculate the ratio on "Starting Ego" VS "Complete Ego Bar".
While I have no idea if a starting level of 40 and expansion of 60 are the
number used in-game, I have surmised that the ratio is correct. The
calculations are based off measuring the Ego Bar in-game:
* Without boosts, measured 37mm on my computer monitor
* With all the boosts, measured 93mm on my computer monitor
Since I do not have a means to take screen captures off my Xbox 360, I
took a ruler and did it the old-fashioned way. Taking into account the
60 points for the boosts, I ended up with 40 as the starting point for
the Ego bar and 100 as the total. This is not the same result as the
DLC addon, because the starting and final bars are different sizes.
- Updated the "Sort By Missions" section.
