(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

This is the first guide I've written in a few years, and the first I've ever
written for GameFAQs. I only own the game for the 360 so if anyone has the
game on PC or PS3 and notices differences in what I've written, please let me
know and I will add it to the guide with a mention of where the info came
from.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Along the way you will find blocks such as this one which represent

[rdyck] Readiness Check

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

So, you think you're ready to hunt down the keywardens and face off against
the Ubers? Well, let's find out. First, the plans, keys, and organs will drop
on ALL difficulty levels (Easy...Hard...Master V), but the drop rate is only
100% on Master V. So either get some friends together or live with the
possibility of doing the work for little to no reward (I've gotten some nice
legendaries on key runs that the key didn't drop on).

The keywardens are easy to take down on their own but the Uber Bosses that
guard the mats for the rings are another story. If you can't do 100k dps at
rest then I don't suggest even trying for the bosses yet. Again, if you're
okay with a lesser drop rate, then go ahead. I took down my first pair of
Ubers on Master 3 doing 112k at rest dps. For those confused, at rest means
no spells/buffs active on you.

Okay, so you've got your dps sorted out (armor & health level recommendations
will come with later versions, though each should be near 100k as well for
barbs), and your toon is ready.

Are you?

Patience and determination are musts for working on crafting your first ring,
especially if you're doing it below Master V. A steady supply of snacks or
caffeine can come in handy too if you're trying to do it in one sitting.

All right, you and your toon are ready, let's move on...

[hrpln] Hellfire Ring Plans

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

Okay, this is the absolute easiest part of crafting the Hellfire Rings and can
be done at just about any point in the process. The plans for the rings are
sold by Squirt at the Hidden Camp in Act II of Inferno (the same vendor you
may have already bought the Archon Armor plans and/or Wirt's Bell from). The
price of the plans is 100,000 gold.

[impln] Infernal Machine Plans

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

Now the fun begins. Set your quest to Inferno/Act IV/Prime Evil/[difficulty].
Take the way point to Gardens of Hope 1st Tier. Fight your way through here
until you have 1-2 stacks of Nephalem Valor (NV). Move up to Gardens of Hope
2nd Tier (from 1st or via town portal doesn't matter. Fight in here until you
have your 3rd stack of NV.

----------------------------------------
Keep an eye out for dungeons along the
way. Guaranteed elite mobs inside.
----------------------------------------

Head back to Bastion's Keep and repair if needed. Now take the way point to
The Crystal Collonade. Run across here and head up to The Silver Spire Level
1. Fight your way through here and you will eventually come across Nekerat the
Keywarden. Defeat him and he may drop the plans for the Infernal Machine and
ifyou're really lucky, a random key as well. (Remember, drop rate is only 100%
at Master V, and without NV3 it won't drop at all). If the plans didn't drop
just quit the game and repeat. If they did drop then you're ready to move on
to the next step.

[key01] Key of Terror

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

You are ready to go get the Key of Terror. Set your quest to Inferno/Act III/
Heart of Sin/[difficulty]. Take the way point to The Keep Depths Level 1.
Ba track a few rooms and you can normally find an Elite Mob in the vicinity,
as well as an event more often than not. If you're really lucky you'll also
find another Elite Mob, if not head down to level two and slaughter those
demons until you have you NV stacks.

Take a town portal back and way point to Stonefort. Slog your way through the
seemingly endless horde of demons until you find Xah'Rith the Keywarden.
Defeat him and with luck you'll receive a Key of Terror for your efforts. If
not then rinse and repeat until you do.

-------------------------------------
Tec187 recommends getting three of
each key before moving on to the
the next. This is very good advice.
-------------------------------------

(/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\)

[key02] Key of Hate

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

Let's move on to the Key of Hate now. Set your quest to Inferno/Act II/Lord of
Lies/[difficulty]. You start out in the bazaar so either run or town portal
back to the Hidden Camp. Take the waypoint to the Sewers of Caldeum. This is a
small area so finding the Elite Mob here shouldn't take long.

From the sewers, either take a town portal or just run back to the local
waypoint. Next stop, Black Canyon Mines. This is another smallish area so
finding the Elite Mob here should be fairly quick. Occasionally, you can find
asecond mob as well. If not, way point to Road to Alcarnus to find the last
mob.

Once you have your 3 stacks of NV head to the Dalgur Oasis. If you're lucky
Sokahr the Keywarden will be right near the waypoint, if not then you could
potentially have to clear over half the map to find him. Eliminate him to earn
your Key of Hate. Rinse and repeat as needed.

-----------------------------------------------
Ranged fighters beware! Sokahr comes equipped
with a missile dampening field.
-----------------------------------------------

(/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\)

[key03] Key of Destruction

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

Yay, Only one more key remains! Set your quest to Inferno/Act I/Return to New
Tristram/[difficulty]. Take the waypoint to The Festering Woods. This will be
the easiest set of NV to acquire. There are a couple Elite Mobs in the area,
two events that spawn frequently. and two short dungeons which have a
guaranteed Elite Mob inside them.

Once you've picked up your 3 stacks of NV take the way point to the Fields of
Misery. Cross your fingers and if you're lucky you'll find Odeg the Keywarden
right next to the waypoint. If he's not there then start hunting. He hides a
lot better than his counterparts so its not uncommon to have to clear
virtually the entire map before you locate him. Eliminate Odeg to receive the
Key of Destruction. Once again, rinse and repeat as needed.

[house] Heretic's Abode

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

Head back to town and talk to the Blacksmith. On the armor tab rotate down to
the item slot and you'll find the Infernal Machine there. It takes one of each
key to make a machine.

---------------------------
Did you remember to teach
the plans to him?
---------------------------

North of the blacksmith is Brother Malachi the Healer. Go up to the house
behind him hit the door to smash it and reveal the room beyond. See the
pattern drawn on the floor in blood? The portals appear in the circles at the.
corners of the triangle.

Use a machine to open a portal. This is where having farmed 3 of each key
comes in handy as it is random which portal opens. After you enter the portal
and defeat the pair of Ubers inside you'll be able to open a second one, and
then a third. Now you understand the need for three of each key.

-------------------------------
Make sure you have NV3 before
fighting the Ubers.
-------------------------------

[uber1] Realm of Discord

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

Welcome to the Realm of Discord. Look familliar? Yea, you've been
transported deep inside the Horadric Monastery, right into the Lair of the
Skeleton King. Oh, and did I mention he's not alone? Have fun!

Uber Bosses: Skeleton King & Magda

Strategy:
* Take down the Skeleton King first. This is not-negotiable. Like during the
campaign, Magda will shield herself at 75% health and the shield will not
drop until ALL other opponents including Leoric have been defeated.
* Beware of Magda's Arcane beams. Yea, she can cast those now. On their own
they aren't so bad, get a few beams at once and have Leoric trying to crush
your skull? Yea...let's not try that. Unless, of course, you want to die.
* Once you've taken care of Leoric, unleash Hell on Magda. She'll shield
herself again at 50% and 25% health, along with the expected mob spawns.
* If you're lucky (or playing on Master V) the Writhing Spine will drop at the
  end of the fight.

[uber2] Realm of Chaos

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

Well, I think we've been here before. This is the Realm of Chaos and it looks
strangely like where we fought that gaseous windbag with a mouth on his
stomach. Wait, there's a cut-scene...no...it can't be...it's...

Uber Bosses: Ghom and Rakanoth

Strategy:
* Multiplayer: Tank - Run, don't walk, to Rakanoth and drag him off of Ghom.
DPS - Kill Ghom as quickly as possible to prevent too many gas
                     clouds from forming.
ALL - Once Ghom is dead, everyone should focus on Rakanoth.
* Solo: Focus on Ghom first and foremost. Do your best to coax him out of the
gas clouds, but if your health per hit is high enough you won't need
to worry about it too much. Once he's down, show Rakanoth who the
        boss is.
* A successful battle will net you a Devil's Fang for you troubles.

--------------------------------------------------------
BEWARE: Rakanoth and Ghom will both occasionaly summon
adds. If you're running low on health these guys can
come in handy. They move faster than the bosses and
you can get out of Ghom's poison cloud long enough to
let your health per hit do it's job.
--------------------------------------------------------

[uber3] Realm of Turmoil

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

You've found the Realm of Turmoil now. I'm not going to lie to you, this is
the absolutely most annoying of the Realms and the one most likely to activate
the Enrage Timer. In this realm you are fighting...

Uber Bosses: Zoltun Kulle and the SiegeBreaker Assault Beast

Strategy:
* Same as the Ghom/Rakanoth fight. Have your Tank distract the Siegebreaker
  while everyone else pummels Kulle.
* Keep him stunned as often and as long as possible. His time bubbles are not
fun as they are easily 10x stronger than in Act II.
* He will frequently teleport away and/or vanish for a few seconds, coming
back elsewhere on the map (I've found holding target lock really helps).
* Avoid his fireballs, roof collapse and tornados, they all deal significant
  damage.
* Once Kulle is beheaded refocus your efforts on the Siegebreaker.
* Be careful of any lingering tornados from Kulle.
* At this point it's a straight brawl (watch out for the damage reflection)
* Overcome this fight and you should receive a Vengeful Eye.

[craft] Crafting the Rings

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

Three cheers for the valiant hero who has gathered all three organs necessary
to craft the most awesome of awesome rings in the game! Hip, hip, huzzah!
Get your butt over to the blacksmith (make sure you taught him the plans for
the rings). You can choose which main stat you want the ring to affect. The
rings comes with:

* +35% Bonus Experience
* +[241-270] Chosen Stat
* Chance to launch an explosive ball of Hellfire when you attack.
* +4 Random Magic Properties
* Unique Equipped

Sadly, you can't make a Hellfire Ring of Strength and a Hellfire Ring of
Vitality and equip them both. The both are named just "Hellfire Ring" and
that annoying Unique Equipped trait gets in the way.

Also, if you're going to roll a dex ring for your demon hunter, do it on your
demon hunter. There's nothing more annoying than getting a dex ring that also
rolls a strength or fury stat or some other useless crap.

Did I mention they're usable at level 1?

(/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\) (/^^^\)

[speed] Speed Farming

(\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/) (\vvv/)

I gave Speed Farming it's own little area at the end simply because it's not
something I recommend doing until you've made that first ring for your main
character. Quite simply, speed farming means you aren't going to fight ANYONE
that is not Blue or Yellow, unless they're a keywarden. Doing this you can
essentially gather all the keys you need in under an hour. I usually get 3+
of each key myself and can clear an act in about 30mins on Master III with my
current stats. The path to take for finding the Elite Mobs is the same as
described above.

           can be extremely annoying Solo.
*Tec187 - Tec wrote a great guide on the GameFAQs boards, one that had faster
routes for NV stacks than I had been previously using and are now
          posted in here.
*GameFAQs - For being who they are. Over the years they've been of great help
