0a) Introduction

As we all know, Dead Rising 2 is right around the corner and the company is
going crazy in trying to advertise and hype up the game. One of the things
they did was release Case Zero so we can all get a little taste of the game.
Also it just so happens to be awesome and will give you a bunch of hours of
gameplay, especially if you go after all the achievements. Since I wrote a
guide for Dead Rising, I figured it would be a good idea to continue this
trend and help everyone that I can. This guide can act almost like a Wiki
page. I welcome everyone to email me about tips and strategies they used to
get some of these achievements. I will of course have to ignore any
strategies that people release as repeats and also strategies that are
more complicated to do then the easier ones.
___________________________________________________________________________
0b) Unique Weapons

Sniper Rifle: Inside of the safe house is a door that leads you to the
roof of the gas station. It is located in the room filled with snacks and
a vending machine that is blocking the door from a zombie infestation. In
this room there is a door that leads you to what looks like a closet but
it has the ladder you can use. Up on the room is the purple spray can and
the sniper rifle.

Mining Pick: Once you climb the roof top in order to find the construction
hat there is also a mining pick on the same building.

Fire Extinguisher: Go into Uncle Bill's Department store and you will
find it hanging on a wall. This weapon is actually fantastic! It freezes
zombies in place and doesn't use a lot of ammo. You can then shatter the
zombie that are frozen.

Broadsword: There is a broadsword that is not only located in Bob's Fish'n
Hunt Store but also one lying around on the rooftops. Make it to the
second floor of the Still Creek Hotel. Find a huge rectangular window that
you can jump out of in the building. You should land on top of a rooftop.
On here, go towards the edge and look down. One of the sides will have a
little ledge you can jump down onto with a broadsword on it.

Lawn Dart: This weapon sucks but it can be found next to the paddle on
the lawn. Right where Dick is first found on top of the van, go directly
behind it towards the building. On the lawn you will find these crappy
weapons.

Acoustic Guitar: Another weapon that isn't so great, but it does seem
kind of unique. Go into the Dirty Drink bar to find it lying around.

All Combo weapons found below, in A Bigger Taste.

___________________________________________________________________________

1) A Taste of Things to Come: Build a combo weapon.

See A Bigger Taste... below.
___________________________________________________________________________
2) A Bigger Taste...: Build all available combo weapons.

Now I believe that this achievement is asking you to specifically build
the combo cards yourself, which probably means if you unlock something like
the Boomstick by defeating the boss, you still have to build the weapon
yourself to unlock the achievement. You also have to build both the combo
cards and scratch cards to unlock this achievement. Basically combo and
scratch cards are cards that automatically unlock once you combine two
items, which create a unique weapon. The difference between the two
is that the combo card usually has an alternate attack where you hold the
X button as well as the fact that you get x2 PP for using the item, unlike
the scratch card which does not have the alternate attack and does not
have a x2 multiplier.

A) Combo Cards

1- Drill Bucket: Drill + Bucket

Location: Both inside the safe house.

2- I.E.D.: Nails + Propane Tank

(Apparently when I reached level 5, this card transformed from a scratch
card into a combo card. I have no idea how that works and if you actually
need to level up the card to get the achievement).

Location: Both inside the safe house.

3- Boomstick: Pitchfork + Shotgun

Pitchfork Location: The pitchfork is located inside Big Buck Hardware
store located on your map.

Shotgun Location: The shotgun is located inside Bob's Fish'n Hunt store.

4- Spiked Bat: Baseball Bat + Nails

Location: Both inside the safe house.

B) Scratch Cards

5- Molotov: Whisky + Newspaper

Whisky Location: The whisky can be found inside the safe house.

Newspaper Location: The newspaper can be found not too far outside of
the safe house. As soon as you exit, start following the road down
past the gas station. There will be one lying in the middle of the
road. There is also another further down on the sidewalk next to a
newspaper stand. Finally we also have one spawn on the rooftop
where Bob will be later on in the game. But if you start a brand
new game, it will be there instead of Bob and his beer.

6- Air Horn: Pylon + Spray Paint (Purple or Green)

Pylon Location: There are Pylons scatter throughout the streets of
this town. I believe there are also Pylons located in the back of
Uncle Bill's Department Store if you want specifics.

Spray Paint Location: The Purple Spray Paint can be found on the
roof of the gas station. Go inside the safe house and walk into
the room with a ton of snacks and the vending machine that your
character blocked off the doorway with in the intro cutscene.
There will be a door in here that looks like it leads into a
small closet. But there is a ladder in here you can climb to
get onto the roof. Right in front of you will be the Purple
Spray Paint. (Also take note there is a sniper on this roof).
The green spray paint can be found in the back alley of the
Sheriff's Office. Outside the door you use to come inside the
building before you unlock another door.

7- Beer Hat: Construction Hat + Beer

Construction Hat Location: The construction Hat is on the rooftops
along where you can find Bob. From Bob look around and to your left,
you should see a big fence. Follow the fence down all the way until
it suddenly stops and you are able to jump off the roof. From here
you should see a fire escape up ahead. Jump towards it and you will
land on a white space. Then look at the building across from you.
Jump onto this light blue/ white space on it. (It will have a
hand gun on it). Then you are able to climb onto the building where
the Construction Hat is. It is on this building but on the
heightened portion of it, all the way at the corner.

Beer Location: Beer is scattered throughout this entire town. It's
hard not to find any but there are some specific locations. At the
road block, there are tons of beer bottles located in the back of a
pickup truck. There are also beer bottles on the rooftops next to
Bob once he appears.

8- Electric Rake: Battery + Leaf Rake

Battery Location: Go behind the Still Creek Movie Theater building
into the alley way to find the battery lying on a green dumpster.
If you go into the alley way next to the barber shop you actually
have to climb over a green dumpster and fence before you find the
location of the battery.

Leaf Rake Location: In the safe house where the car lot is.
(On the ground).

9- PaddleSaw: Paddle + Chainsaw

Paddle Location: The Paddle can be found right outside the safe
house. Once you find Dick standing on top of the Van, go directly
behind the van towards the building. You will find the paddle
lying on the ground between the edge of the building and a wooden
fence.

Chainsaw Location: Go inside Big Bucks Hardware store and you will
find two chainsaws. (You only need one).

Credited to Neeker
I'm not sure whether it's scripted, but at the end of the game,
I only have four combo cards:

- Spiked Bat: right after building it
- I.E.D.: after levelling up
- Drill Bucket: after levelling up
- Boomstick: defeating Jed/ completing the game

___________________________________________________________________________
3) Clueless No More: Purchase a clue from Dick, the pawnshop owner.

This is really simple. See Small Town, Deep Pockets for tips on getting
cash. But basically you have to press Y to talk to Dick in order to get
some information. Pay $1,000 and you should get the achievement.
___________________________________________________________________________
4) Locksmith: Unlock all the doors in Still Creek.

There are 5 locked doors throughout this town that you must unlock in order
to get the achievement. Two of them are part of the storyline mission.

1- Rescue Dick and escort him to the Pawnshop, then go inside.

2- Small Shack: If you talk to Dick for a tip (you don't have to), you
will find out there is a key at the Still Creek Hotel. If you do talk
with Dick you will get a map marker. Otherwise it is right next to
the Still Creek Casino on your map, directly to the right of it.You
must climb your way up to where Bob is located. Look around to your
left and you will see a fence you can follow to the end of the
building. Straight ahead of that is a fire escape you can jump towards.
Here will be an open door you can enter. Explore this building and
you can find the key located in one of the rooms on the floor. (The
room to the right of the boarded up staircase).

Take note that this key is not available at the start of the game.
Now once you finally have it go to the small shack where one of
the bike parts are located. (To the right of Big Bucks Hardware
Store). Unlock the door with the key that you got.

3- Bob's Fish'n Hunt Store: Get back onto the roof where Bob is.
Before you do anything look to your left and you will see past the
fence, there is a building with a hole in it. Next to the hole it
says "Bob's Down Here." This is where you have to go. Continue on
the same path as before, jumping onto the fire escape. Look to your
left and you will see a building you must jump to. Land on a small
ledge where a handgun is located and then jump onto the building.
From here you will be able to get the construction hat and a
mining pick. But you must find the propane tank at the corner of
this building. From the propane tank drop down to the small ledge.
Follow it to the football. From the football jump onto the building
to your left. This is where you need to be. Drop down the hole and
unlock the door from the inside.

4- Sheriff's Office: This is located on the map but you must unlock
it from the inside as well. Go past the Pawnshop and take a right as
soon as you hit an alley. You will have to jump over a green dumpster
and a fence. Follow this path down and then take a right. Down this
pathway you will find a door into the Sheriff's Office. Open it and
go inside, then in this room you will have to open another door to unlock
it.

Credited to Neeker
"The door you missed is in the back door of the movie theater, which
leads to a bike part."

5- Once you enter the Still Creek Movie Theater, make your way inside the
auditorium where you would watch a movie. In this room there is a door in
the back that you need to open to unlock.
___________________________________________________________________________
5) Part Way There: Find and return a bike part.

See Ready to Ride below.
___________________________________________________________________________
6) Ready to Ride: Rebuild the bike.

There are 5 bike parts you need in order to complete this mission. I think
you can also avoid giving Dick money for tips since you can simply find
them yourself using this guide.

1- Wheel: Pay Dick $5,000 for the wheel at his pawnshop. See Small Town,
Deep Pockets for tips on getting money.

2- Handle Bars: I'm not exactly sure how this works but I do know that the
Handle Bars do not appear right away, so you can save them for last if you
would like. There will be two survivors that appear at some point of the
game Archie Eaton and Jason Wong. One of them has the handle bars in his
hands. In order to find them you either have to wait for a specific
time in the game or you first have to rescue the married couple, Fausto
Vargas and Gemini Vargas. Either way you should keep talking with Bob
because he will actually point out to you that these survivors are around
and give you a way point. Once you do find them, they are located in the
back of Uncle Bill's Department Store. One of them will ask you to trade
a broadsword for the handle bars so prepare to have that in your inventory
before you find them. You can also simply kill him for the handle bars so
do whatever you want to do. The broadsword is either located in Bob's
Fish'n Hunt sword or if you don't want to unlock it you can find a
broadsword along the rooftop. Directions to the sword can be found at
the top of my guide under Unique weapons.

3- Engine: The Engine can be found at the back of the Still Creek Movie
Theater. Search around in the alley to find it lying on the floor.
Otherwise you can pay Dick $2,500 for the info, which will give you an
objective location on your map.

4- Bike Forks: Pay Dick $1,000 for information if you want objective
locations on your map. Otherwise follow this guide. First you must get a
key located in the Still Creek Hotel. Look at your map and make your way
to the Still Creek Casino on your map, directly to the rightb of it is
the hotel. You must climb your way up to where Bob is located. Look
around to your left and you will see a fence you can follow to the end
of the building. Straight ahead of that is a fire escape you can jump
towards. Here will be an open door you can enter. Explore this building
and you can find the key located in one of the rooms on the floor.
(The room to the right of the the boarded up staircase).

Take note that this key is not available at the start of the game.
Now once you finally have it go to the small shack to the right of Big
Bucks Hardware Store. Unlock the door with the key that you got and
you will find the Bike Forks on the ground.

5- Gasoline Canister: This is the easiest part to get. Simply go outside
of the safe house and to the gas station where you fill up car tanks. Next
to it, on the ground, will be the gas canister.
___________________________________________________________________________
7) We Ride To Fortune City!: Escape Still Creek with Katey.

See Ready to Ride and Chop Shop for tips. Otherwise you must complete both
storyline missions to get this achievement. Make sure to give Katey her
Zombrex shot between 7:00PM and 8:00PM. Then you must make sure to have
your bike built before the military come. Once both are complete, hop on
the bike and beat the driving part of the game to get the achievement.
___________________________________________________________________________
8) Chop Shop: Defeat Jed the Mechanic.

I have yet to find an awesomely cheap way to defeat this psychopath so
feel free to send emails for tips. I found the Spiked Baseball bat to be
pretty effective. The shotgun barley made a scratch on him and some other
melee weapons sucked. You might or might not want to invest in making
the Beer Hat. For one thing you actually get a TON of health from it and
also your character drinks it quickly so you won't get hit before you
use an item. (For example, drinking the whisky bottle means you will get
shot before you drink). But the bad thing is that if you drink too much
even from the beer hat, you will start throwing up, which also means you
will either drop the beer hat or your weapon. Soda seems to be the fastest
drinking item but also keep in mind Orange Juice gives you lots of health
but is slower.

The basic strategy of the boss goes like this. If you are far away he
will try to shoot you with his shotgun and he's very accurate with it. If
you get close to him he will either try to stick a pitchfork in you and
shoot you or use a welding torch on your face. So there is no getting
around getting hurt unless you find good cover behind some cars and
shoot or attack him from behind with a melee weapon. The sledgehammer,
spiked bat, and broadsword all do the job. The chainsaw is slightly
better but you also drop it if you get hit. The sniper rifle isn't as
powerful as I hoped it would be so if you use any gun at all, use the
assault rifle. The most damage I have done with him is shooting a propane
tank while he was near it. A regular propane tank pretty much does as
much damage as an I.E.D. tank.

Neat Tip: Beer + Pie = Nectar (Health Drink).
Department Store: Book = Increased durability for built weopons.
Barbar Shop: Book = +1 Health to health items.

Credited to Neeker
A really cheap way is to bring three assault rifles (or four if you're
confident that you won't get hit) and a couple of juices (any juice will
do, mix them at the bar - juices heals you completely and give you a
temporary boost). Just stay far away from Jed, LT to aim and RT to rain
shots on him. Should kill him in a minute or two.

Credited to Santiago S
I found an awesomely cheap way (as you say) to defeat this guy. Use the
sniper rifle located on the gas station rooftop. It took me about 15 shots
to down him. Just keep yourself on one side of the pile of wrecked
cars in the middle of the yard and him on the other.
___________________________________________________________________________
9) Still Creek Savior: Save all the survivors in Still Creek.

There are 9 survivors you must rescue in order to complete this
achievement and unfortunately, you also have to build your bike at the same
time. Also make sure to keep in touch with Bob because sometimes I can't
find the survivors unless I talk with him first.

First Group
-Fausto Vargas
- Gemini Vargas

They are located in the Dirty Drink Bar. Talk to the husband first until
he asks for a drink. Grab two whisky bottles in the bar and give him one.
He will ask for another so give him another drink. After he throws up he
will join you. Talk with his wife and she will then join you as well.
Bring them back to the safe house as safely and quickly as you can.

Second Group
-Sharon Riesinger
-Nikki Valentino
-Tia Hernandaz

First go to the bowling alley after you at least rescue the first group.
This second group is the only group of people I can consistently find
without Bob's help. Talk to the two girls until they ask you to find
their friend Sharon. You will have to make it all the way to the road
block where the broken down ambulance was with the Zombrex. Make sure
to come here with at least 1 Zombrex on you. (Remember you can pay
Dick $25,000 for some zombrex). Talk to Sharon and she will ask you
for Zombrex. Give it to her and you will have to carry her all the
way back to the Bowling alley. Press X to kick zombies by the way.
Talk to the girls and have them both join you. Bring all 3 of them
back to the safe house.

Third Group
-Archie Eaton
-Jason Wong

In order to find them you either have to wait for a specific time
in the game or you first have to rescue the married couple, Fausto
Vargas and Gemini Vargas. Either way you should keep talking with
Bob because he will actually point out to you that these survivors
are around and give you a way point. Once you do find them, they
are located in the back of Uncle Bill's Department Store. One of
them will ask you to trade a broadsword for the handle bars so
prepare to have that in your inventory before you find them. The
broadsword is either located in Bob's Fish'n Hunt sword or if
you don't want to unlock it you can find a broadsword along the
rooftop. Directions to the sword can be found at the top of my
guide under Unique weapons. You must trade items or he will not
follow you. Once you do so, travel back to the safe house with
him and his friend.

Fourth Group
-Bob Blackrock
-Darcie Blackrock

These last two survivors are rediculous because not only do you have
to rescue everyone before you rescue them, but you also have to build
your bike. If you do not build your bike you will never find Darcie
yourself and Bob will not come with you. So once you finally build
the bike and rescue everyone talk to Bob. He will say that he spotted
his daughter go inside Bob's Fish'n Hunt. Find her in there and talk to
her. She will tell you she will not leave without her father. Go back
to Bob and talk to him, he will follow you into the store. Talk to both
of them, apparently he gets slapped and then you can take them both back
to the warehouse.
___________________________________________________________________________
10) Small Town, Deep Pockets: Spend $100,000 in the pawnshop.

This achievement seems to take a couple of gameplays to actually get, so I
would recommend getting it last so you have time to accumulate money. You
can get money by gambling, saving two specific survivors, destroying the
slot machines, ATMs, Snack Machines, Purses, and Cash Registers. Also
remember that money gets carried over once you restart the story.

One strategy you should follow is to first go to the Still Creek Casino
located on your map. There is a small amount of money located outside
and tons of money on the inside. First try gambling on Barnyard Bonanza.
It always seems to give you winnings about 5 times before you
start losing. Once you're done, smash the machine to earn more money.
Do not gamble on Trouble with Turkeys in this room because I never seem
to win. Don't forget to also destroy the ATM machines here for more cash.
Now just go around to all of the main buildings around town for more slot
machines, cash registers, etc. There are some at the movie theater,
Mommas Diner, the Department store, and I forget where else. The bowling
Alley has the snack machines you can break. After all this, you should
have over $20,000 if I'm not mistaken.

Credited to FuturisticJoe
Another way to gain money is entering and exiting the safe house which
seems to re-spawn the slot machines to break, so it's possible in one
gameplay.

The next strategy is to rescue the two survivors, Fausto Vargas and
Gemini Vargas, the married couple. They are located in The Dirty Drink
once you start the main quest for bike parts. Once you save them you will
get $15,000. Then leave and come back to talk to Gemini Vargas. She will
give you a side quest to find her missing gems. Go to the road block
where you got the Zombrex and the wheelbarrow. It's not where the
ambulance is but closer to the entrance of the road that leads to the
ambulance. (Unless it appears in random spots). I found it on the road
next to a broken down car. Bring it back to her and you will gain another
$15,000. Finally you must actually spend the $100,000 that you do gain at
the Pawnshop to unlock the achievement.

Credited to Dart CiD
First off, it's best to take the spiked bat with you, it will destroy all
the machines in one hit and the strong attack will clear zombies out of
the way without accidentally destroying machines and you can also close
doors to stop zombies wandering in. I would also like to point out that
I was semi right before, in the casino you can only play the middle
machine in every group, whereas everywhere else, each individual machine
is playable with only the ones with cash in front of them being winnable.
This fact could be carried over to the actual game so it should be
pointed out.

I use the breakdown that each winning machine gives $1300
($1500 won- $500 spent + $300 destruction), $5oo from ATMs and $400 from
cash registers (need to be thrown). So, starting from safe room, head to
casino with $200 dollars outside on floor, inside there are three
winnable machines (all Barnyard Bonanza), 18 machines total, 2 ATMs, 1
cash register (in booth) and $900 dollars on floor making for a total
$9900. Next, head to the bowling alley for 2 cash registers and an ATM
($1300), then the diner for 1 cash register, 3 machines (one on left
winnable) and $200 on floor in front of winnable machine ($2500). Next
is the cinema with 4 machines on each side with the 2nd and 4th from left
as you look at them being winnable (both sides), 2 cash registers and
$400 on floor ($100 in front of each winnable machine, $7600 total).
Last is Uncle Bill's, with 3 machines (left is winnable I think, forgot
to write it down, $200 in front of it anyway) and a cash register
($2800), back to safe house to re-spawn everything, repeat. Using this
line you will get $24100 each run, so really only four runs needed, I
didn't even bother timing it as I managed to get $60000+ before 2:47 pm
from 7:00am whilst stopping every five minutes to write stuff down, so
you could certainly get $100000 by 12:00pm. Thing is, I didn't realize how
much I was getting from the casino, so if you don't mind loading screens
you could just do the casino 10 times probably in the same amount of time.

___________________________________________________________________________
11) Zombie Hunter: Kill 100 zombies.

Hell just go all out on some zombies and you will get this achievement.
Otherwise see Zombie Exterminator below for more tips.
___________________________________________________________________________
12) Zombie Exterminator: Kill 1,000 zombies.

What I did to get 1,000 kills as fast as I could was play the Case File
story line until part 0-3 where you have to take the Wheelbarrow and bring
it back to the safe house. Instead of bringing it back to the safe house,
use it to get 1,000 kills. It is indestructible so you can use it as
long as you want. If you use it correctly you will also not be able to
get hurt from the zombies since you're just mowing them down and you are
in constant motion. The only drawback is that this cart does not always
kill a zombie in one hit. It's almost random but sometimes it does and
sometimes it takes two hits. Either way you can keep looping around
the town in circles or whatever pattern you want to get 1,000 kills.
It takes a good half hour or so from scratch.

Credited to Matt, aka vjdj779
I used the cart as well, but occasionally got stuck in a corner, and had
to pick up the cart and place it in a better location, eventually losing
a lot of health. So what I also did was use the moose head's power attack,
located inside the hunting store and ram through the masses, the
broadswords took out about 40 zombies each, and the paddle saw did wonders
too.

Credited to Ethan aka megamanEPX
What I did is once you get to 0-4, the queen insects start appearing at
random. So when you kill a queen zombie (zombie look like they're trying
to scratch their backs) it kills every zombie in a pretty decent radius.
Then you can throw it into a large crowd of zombies (i.e. outside the
gas station) for quick kills! Also queens cant kill queen zombies so you
can chuck one then get another faster. you can easily get tons of kills
like this while grabbing bike parts or survivors!
