BASIC INFO (single player) BASNFO
--------------------------
You gain HOUND parts for every finished mission. If you get the best rank
(S rank), then you get a 'bonus’ piece.
After each mission, the game gives you a score, the final points of which
determines your grade.
You need 3000+ to get the top, 'S rank', between 2000-2999 to get A rank,
1000-1999 for B rank, and so on. As far as I know, there is no ‘SS’ rank.
I’ve scored over 4000 points for a mission, but can’t get it to 5000. Let me
know if you do!
You will be scored on various things, which are role type specific, but there
are always three basic categories, along the lines of Amount of time taken,
enemies destroyed, your average attack distance, etc. Each basic gives you a
maximum of 500 points. (so 1500 per mission if you max all three).
The easiest way to bag the S ranks, however, is to complete the
‘Extra Operations’ within a mission, as each one successfully finished
will get you 1000 points to your total!
Posted below are all the missions in detail.
I've included the HOUND types you get to borrow because they are good
basic blueprints for when you start to build. Plus, some of the missions
can be quite challenging using the HOUNDS provided...
I've some custom ones for the harder S Ranks that I'll also add in, which
may help if you are having trouble on a particular one, for example, the
secret (shhhh) final mission!

General Tutorial GENUTR
----------------
Mission 01: General Training (Map: Rafzakael Test Field, HOUND: RFZ-T85R)
Basic Mission: Follow the commanders instructions as he gives them to you.
Extra Operations: None
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-CK-A2 (Cockpit)
RFZ-MC-1 (System device)
RFZ-TC-1 (System device)
RFZ-HC-1 (System device)
S Grade= RFZ-WAR-1 (Weapon, Assault rifle)
Tips for S rank: Because there are no Ex Op's, your score is based on the
three basics; time taken, Accuracy and Damage taken. So try to not get hit,
don't ever blind fire, and be a fast as your commander allows.
An easy S rank to get.

SOLIDER RT MISSIONS (Easy) SOLDRT
-------------------------------
Mission 01: Soldier RT Training (MAP: Rafzakael Test Field, HOUND: RFZ-A52T)
Basic Mission: Follow the commanders instructions as he gives them to you.
Your final grade will incorporate Time elapsed, Enemies destroyed, and
Average attack distance.
Extra Operations: "Real" Combat in <3 Mins
Rewards: Any Grade= RFZ-TL-2 (Leg Part, Bipedal)
S Grade= RFZ-AAM-2 (Armour)
Tips for S rank: Just make sure you get all of the enemies in under three
minutes, once 'real combat' starts. To make it easier, they come in from these
points: D4, E4, D3, and G3. With the exception of D3 (a lone tank) the others
will be mixed squads of tanks and AT-ST's, with a single heavy walker in the
final group.
Mission 02: Wipe-out Rebels (Map: Upstream Gorge, HOUND: RFZ-A52T)
Basic Mission: Attack and destroy the rebel base camp in grid C2, wiping out
all enemies along the way. Your final grade will incorporate Time taken,
Enemies destroyed, and your average attack distance.
Extra Operations: Enemy annihilated
Allied scout survives
Reward: Any Grade= RFZ-GE-A1 (Generator)
S Grade= RFZ-CK-A3 (Cockpit)
Tips for S rank: Start attacking as early as possible, which protects the
scout by making sure everyone comes after you instead. Then it's just a case
of mopping up the small force in G3 (four tanks and two AT-ST walkers), and
two more tanks and AT-ST on the river side. The base is defended by three
heavy walkers outside, and a good many tanks inside. Be sure to get them all,
it can get a bit confusing once the buildings start falling.
Mission 03: Wipe-out Rebels 2 (Map: Edina Mine Ruins, HOUND: RFZ-A52W)
Basic Mission: Attack and destroy the transport with an enemy officer in it.
If he gets too far away, you will fail this mission.
Extra Operations: Halt enemy before F4
No damaged parts
Reward: Any Grade= RFZ-WMG-3 (Weapon, Machine Gun)
S Grade= RFZ-WBD-1 (Weapon, Bomb Dispenser)
Tips for S Rank: It can get a bit hectic, with lots of fire coming in to you,
but ignore it all, and focus on the little APC like vehicle flanked by two
AT-ST. He starts in grid E6, and moves East, over the hill. As soon as the
buildings end, get off the road, and start shooting at him. Just look in
front of the two AT-ST's to find him. it's easy, but may take a couple of
times thorough to get a feel for it.
Mission 04: Wipe-out Rebels 3 (Map: East Cale Plains, HOUND: RFZ-A52T)
Basic Mission: Attack and destroy the rebel headquarters in grid G7, and
secure as many COMBAS towers as you can.
Extra Operations: No damaged parts
Time spent <5 Mins
Reward: Any Grade = RFZ-ASP-1 (Spacer)
S Grade = FZ-WGL-1 (Weapon, Grenade Launcher)
Tips for S rank: Take out all the enemy units near to where you start, and
head to COMBAS tower G (you don't need to capture it, or any others). Move up
and over the hills, heading straight for the base, taking the narrow left path.
Watch for the tank squadron just over the brow, it can be hard to hit them
because of the gradient. Take out as many enemies as you can, but head straight
for the base. Start shooting it as early as possible, cycling through your
weapons. You need to level all the large, main buildings, the oil refineries
and the cylindrical tanks. Watch your leg damage, as even with just tanks it
can mount up. Keep shooting, keep moving. It's not too hard, but it does
require a little luck and good shooting.
Mission 05: Defend Tarakian Base (Map: West Cale Plains, HOUND: RFZ-A52W)
Basic Mission: Push through the advancing enemy to safety, completely
destroying them in several locations.
Extra Operations: All allied units survive
No damage to Silvys ACV
Reward: Any Grade = RFZ-WBD-2 (Weapon, Bomb Dispenser)
S Grade = RFZ-WL-2 (Leg Part, Wheels)
Tips for S rank: Not too hard. Just head to all the locations as quickly as
possible, and take out the enemy as efficiently as you can once you are there.
Always shoot first, even if you know you won't hit, as you will draw the fire
away from your allies, and bear in mind that for the very last group (heavy
cannons) you are going to have to sprint almost the length of the map!
Mission 06: Defend Tarakian Base 2 (Map: Village of Cobar, HOUND: RFZ-A88T)
Basic Mission: Head to the enemy base and destroy it.
Extra Options: No damaged parts
No damage to Silvys ACV
Rewards: Any Grade = RFZ-WAR-2 (Weapon, Assault Rifle)
S Grade = RFZ-WSC-2 (Heat Rocket)
Tips for S rank: This can be a bit close. Keeping Silvy damage free is the
main hassle, but it's easy enough with a bit of practice. As soon as you
start, head forwards, and take out the three Heavy Walkers attacking the base
in B1. Then get on the road, taking care of the little hover scouts that
approach. Follow the road to about F3, when you should see, to the left,
in the distance, three Heavy walkers, just over the brow of a hill. Head
to them, and kill them quickly, before heading straight for the base (H6).
Keep an eye on the road, and take out any AT-ST as they appear (they endlessly
re-spawn), also keeping an eye out for the three snipers dotted about, they
can cause you problems if you don't identify and kill them quickly. Once at
the base, take care of the two heavy walker defenders, and then stand just
out side the base's bay area, and fire your small bombs directly into it,
hitting the main tower with your other weapons as they recharge. Kill any
AT-ST as soon as they fire on you, or if necessary, use the base as cover
while they get close. Success depends on a nice balance of killing everything
along with quickly getting to and destroying the base. Don't be afraid to
replay the level just to learn where the enemy moves from and to.
Mission 07: Mop up Rebel survivors (Map: South Bath Plains, HOUND: RFZ-A52T)
Basic Mission: Single handily destroy the last remaining Enemies; a Commander
and Defender HOUND.
Extra Options: No damaged parts
Enemy hound destroyed in <3 Mins
Enemy annihilated in <5 Mins
Reward: Any Grade = RFZ-WHT-1 (Weapon, HEAT Rocket)
S Grade = RFZ-WHP-1 (Weapon, Anti-HOUND-Pile)
Tips for S rank: Cross the river and take out as many tanks as possible. A
little further along, from around the cliff in H2, the Command mech will
appear. Draw him in to you, constantly firing at his cockpit. He shouldn't
present too much of a problem, but once he's down, the slower Defender HOUND
will be in range. His long range attacks are devastating, and he's Armoured
on the sides, but he's not very mobile, so weave in close to him and give
him everything you've got. Watch for him to pause; a sure sign he's going
to let rip with him massive cannon.

SNIPER RT MISSIONS (Easy) SNIPRT
-----------------------------
Mission 01: Sniper RT Training (MAP: Rafzakael Test Field, HOUND:RFZ-SP96A)
Basic Mission: As with all training missions, simply follow the commanders
instructions.
Evaluation Points from: Time Elapsed, Accuracy, Av. Attack Distance.
Extra Operations: Get over 70% Accuracy.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-RJ-1 (Leg, Reverse Jointed)
S Grade= RFZ-ASP-2 (Spacer)
Tips for S Rank: Time and damage are the least of you concerns. Have a few
goes with the borrowed HOUND, and learn how the Sniper weapons are grouped.
Try to use just the slot A ones, as they have a higher chance of hitting,
the group B (three guns) more easily have a last shot that goes astray.
Don't ever use your assault rifle, and be as far away as possible to boost
your Av. Attack Distance. For the last round, once you are next to the COMBAS
in B6, the enemy will come in from A5. If you're having a hard time, just
wait for them to stop before shooting (they park up after a while), as you
will only receive a little damage from them. Overall, this is quite an
easy S rank to get.
Mission 02: Border Patrol (MAP: West Industrial Zone, HOUND: RFZ-SP96A)
Basic Mission: Help the border patrol deal with a squad that has been
pestering them.
Evaluation Points from: Time Elapsed, Accuracy, Average Attack Distance.
Extra Operations: Get over 60% Accuracy, No damage to Jayrus's HOUND.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-GE-B1 (Generator)
S Grade= RFZ-TC-2 (System Device)
Tips for S grade: Unless you are very fast, it can be tricky. Get into
position at F4 as quickly as you can. Prioritise your targets; you have
two AT-ST's and five tanks (don't miss the little APC like thing too) across
the pipe way in E6/7. Shoot the pipe supports out for a clearer view. Then
move on to E5, To get the last group of enemies, found in C4. There's again
two AT-ST's, five tanks, and an APC. Don't waste a shot on the ruined tank
that is nestled amongst the real ones.
(If you are having real difficulty, the easiest way to get the S rank by
far is to create a Sniper HOUND with night vision, and kill the enemy before
the flares are even fired!)
Mission 03: Border Patrol 2 (Map: Osca Industrial Zone, HOUND: RFZ-SP96A)
Basic Mission: Attack and destroy the enemy base, taking a different route
to your allies.
Evaluation Points from: Time Elapsed, Accuracy, Average Attack Distance.
Extra Operations: Enemy Annihilated, All Allied Units Survive.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-WSR-1 (Weapon, Sniper Rifle)
S Grade= RFZ-WAR-3 (Weapon, Assault Rifle)
Tips for S Rank: Walk straight forward and take out the AT-ST's and tanks
with your Assault rifle (make you shots count, so you still get the Av
Attack distance). Then down the road, and take up position on the hill to
your left, overlooking the base. Destroy the fuel cylinders in G4, then
start taking out the enemy (Five AT-ST's, and two tanks). Do this quickly,
before the Squad turns up to capture COMBAS J, so they don't take any damage.
There will be a lone AT-ST who appears in G4 when the COMBAS tower is
captured. Stay where you are and take him out, before turning, ready to
take on the Enemy force (three AT-ST's and several tanks) that will appear
in I7 and H7. Snipe them quickly, then move toward the base, shooting it
as you go. When you are close enough, shoot the fuel tanks next to the base
for a quick kill, and the mission should be a success.
Mission 04: Border Patrol 3 (Map: Kilmore Highlands, HOUND: RFZ-SP96A)
Basic Mission: Ambush a retreating attack force, killing them all.
Evaluation Points from: Time elapsed, Accuracy, Average Attack Distance.
Extra Operations: All Allied Units Survive, Stopped Enemy before D2.
Any Grade: RFZ-ASD-N1 (Assist Part, Night Vision)
S Grade: RFZ-WSR-1 (Sniper Rifle) x2
Tips for S Grade: If you are a fast and accurate sniper, simply get into
position at F3, and snipe them first as they enter your field of vision from,
being sure to mop up any misses as soon as they clear the mountains in E3
and F3.
If you don't mind taking some damage, the alternative is slide down the
mountain (50% leg damage), and park up on the road in C2, just around the
bend, giving you a decent clear view of the road. The first batch will almost
be there, so the first fight may be a bit tough, but you will be able to
leisurely snipe the others at a great distance. Let none get past you, and
the S rank is yours.
NOTE: Be aware that the briefing says 'our troops are following' or
something, which is not true! You have to kill all the vehicles that come
into the map from C6, including the ACV carriers.
Mission 05: Assault Enemy base (Map: Cecil Plains, HOUND RFZ-SP96A)
Basic Mission: Assist the squad in fending off the enemy, then defend the base.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, Accuracy, Average attack distance.
Extra Operations: All Allied Units survive, No damaged parts.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-WAR-1 (Weapon, Assault Rifle)
S Grade= RFZ-TL-1 (Legs, Bipedal)
Tips for S Grade: Move right from the starting position, and climb the small
hill in D5. Straight away start sniping the enemy coming in from B4. Pay
attention to when the hovercraft are destroyed, as two AT-ST's will show up,
and you should deal with these quickly. Then Face East, as you will be coming
under fire from the large force of AT-ST's that swamp you. Killing all of
these quickly and efficiently is the key to bagging the S rank. When they
are down, follow the road South, pausing on the crest of the hill to snipe
the hovercraft attacking the base, before moving closer to the base and
finishing off the three AT-ST's that come in from I4 direction.
Mission 06: Assault Enemy Base 2 (Map: East Cecil Plains, HOUND: RFZ-SP96A)
Basic Mission: Aid Squad to wipe out the enemy as they flee their base.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, Accuracy, Average Attack Distance.
Extra Operations: Never hit any friendlies, Allied detachment lives.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-WSR-2 (Weapon, Sniper Rifle)
S Grade= RFZ-WAR-3 (Weapon, Assault Rifle)
Tips for S Rank: Can be a tough one. It's fast and furious, and may well be
the level it's not worth making every shot count; just fire! Head up to the
peak on the left of your starting position, and start shooting straight away
at at line of Heavy Walkers moving towards F3. Take as many out as early as
you can, try to guess aim with your assault rifles while your sniper shots
recharge, if you wait, you will lose the mission. Be aware that if Squad 2
is wiped out, you've lost 1000 Ex Op points, and if Squad 1 is wiped out,
it's mission end. Concentrate on the Heavy Walkers as much as possible,
doing what you can as fast as you can, but if you have to choose, choose
to protect squad 1! After you've killed enough enemies, the mission will
end. It is possible to just get the S rank, even if Squad 2 doesn't make
it, but you'll have to have a good time and Av. Attack distance.
Mission 07: Purse Enemy Troops (Map: Kudelyyka Valley, HOUND:RFZ-SP96A)
Basic Mission: Support your allies by taking out oncoming troops, Long range
cannons and the enemy commander. Defend against the Black HOUND.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, Accuracy, Average attack distance.
Extra Operations: Over 50% Accuracy, Destroy Enemy commander in <3 mins,
No damaged parts.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-WSC-1 (Weapon, Sniper Cannon)
S Grade= RFZ-WCN-1 (Weapon, Cannon)
Tips for S Rank: No where near as hard as it should be, considering you
face a Cerberus HOUND. At the start, don't move, just target the enemy on
the road below. Then move slightly south to take out the long range cannons,
before moving up the slope behind you to the high peak at E4, and sniping the
commander. Mop up the other Heavy Walker gunners, and then move right to
the cliff edge at F5. The enemy HOUND will appear, just stay on the ridge,
and take him out, concentrating on his cockpit. It can take a while, but
sooner or later, he ends up just walking randomly about below you. One of
the easier Black HOUND fights! Once he's done for, mop up the hover scouts,
and the S rank should be yours.
(no, there's no way to save Jayrus)

DEFENDER RT MISSIONS (Medium) DEFERT
----------------------------------
Mission 01: (Map: Rafzakael Test Field, HOUND: RFZ-D18C)
Basic Mission: Follow the commanders instructions as he gives them to you.
Evaluation Points: Time Elapsed, Damage Taken, Enemies Destroyed
Extra Operations: Keep Enemy away from HQ.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-CL-2 (Leg Part, Caterpillar)
S Grade= RFZ-AMS-1 (Assist Part, Missile Counter)
Tips for S Rank: There's not much to be said, apart from this one can be
bloody hard. The only real problem, and it's a big one, is the speed of the
Hover scouts Vs your weapon recharge time. The three opening bits are quite
easy, 3x AT-ST that don't fight back, 3x Heavy Walkers that do, then a mixed
squad of 3x AT-ST's and 3x Hover scouts, before moving on to the real
meat - the base defence. You will fail the Ex Op if any enemy unit touches
your base. Park up on the top of the ridge in I3, making sure you are on
level with the rear of the base, and get ready. The first wave, 3x AT-ST's,
comes in from F1. You can wait until they turn toward the base to get the
best shot (damage to the base doesn't matter), but finish them quickly.
The next wave, 3x Hover scouts come in from I3, on your right.
They are fast, and can cause no end of headaches. You must move with them,
taking a shot with your shotguns when you have it, and keeping yourself
between them and the base at all costs. As your instructor says, stay calm
and don't panic, take the shots when you have them and manoeuvre to shield
the base and obstruct them when you don’t. The penultimate wave is
3x AT-ST's from F3, then it's a final 3x Hover Scouts from I4. Again,
keep your nerve, and obstruct them while shooting reloading. They can be a
bit harder, since you should be nearer the base now, and so have less time,
but it's not impossible, just tricky!
Far from the easiest of the S ranks to get.
Mission 02: Defend Camp (Map: Eger, HOUND: RFZ-D18C)
Basic Mission: Defend the HQ from the unknown squad.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, enemies destroyed.
Extra Operations: Keep Enemy away from HQ, All escortees Survive.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-GE-B2 (Generator)
S Grade= RFZ-CK-B1 (Cockpit)
Tips for S Rank: Get on the road, and as with the training mission, obstruct
the hover scouts while your shotguns reload. There are five, but the other
units will help you. The next three waves are squads of five AT-ST's. Get close
to the base, parking right in front of it is an excellent idea. Use missiles
when they group together, cannons as they get near, and shotguns if they make
it too close. Ignore the order to go north, just stay in front of the base,
taking them out as they come. Make sure they don't get close, and watch for
friendly fire (your allies will shoot if they have a shot, even if you're in
the way.) The trick to getting the 'all escortees survive' Ex Op is in taking
out the second group of AT-ST's (they come along the same road as the hover
scouts) quickly and cleanly.
Mission 03:Escourt Survey Team (Map: East Lake Orlovka, HOUND: RFZ-D18C
Basic Mission: Intercept and destroy enemy following survey team, then protect
them while they finish.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, enemies destroyed.
Extra Operations: Halt Enemy before F4, All escortees survive.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-WSG-1 (Weapon, Shotgun)
S Grade= RFZ-ASP-3 (Spacer)
Tips for S Rank: Well, it's not too hard. There are three groups; the first is
Heavy Walkers, sauntering down the road. While these can be taken down easily
with missiles, as you are doing that, a squad of hover scouts will approach
from behind them, who present a bigger threat, so break off you attack and
kill them as quickly as possible before returning to Heavies. The next two
squads are exactly the same, but the second group's Scouts will come at you
across the water. Killing these scouts quickly is the key to the 'stop enemy
before F4' Ex Op. You then get a message that the enemy is attacking from the
rear, but have gone into a blocked tunnel. Quickly follow the road to the
tunnel, and take out the last remaining enemies. If you really struggle, park
up on the little hill just off the road in E6. You'll take a pile of damage,
and possibly mess up Ex Op #2, but you should still easily get the S, so long
as they don't make it much past you.
Mission 04: Escort Survey Team 2 (Map: Lake Orlovka, HOUND: RFZ-D18C)
Basic Mission: Defend the reinforced survey team from enemy attack without an
TC.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, enemies destroyed
Extra Operations: All Escortees survive, enemy annihilated.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-ARD-1 (Radiator)
S Grade= RFZ-WRL-1 (Weapon, Rocket)
Tips for S Rank: Tricky. Your TC not being there makes a difference, as does
the limited visibility due to fog! Take out as many enemies as possible,
always wiping out the hover scouts as they appear. Stay as far ahead of the
convoy as possible, and if you can't see the enemy yourself, watch for where
they are shooting, or where the fire is coming from to pinpoint them. Near
the end, as you come towards the base, there are enemy on both sides, shelling
you, remember to dodge one while attacking the other. Moderate in difficulty,
you should get it, but if you are having problems, just try to get as forward
as possible to draw fire away from the survey team.
Mission 05: Escort Survey Team 3 (Map: Lake Suhodol, HOUND: RFZ-D18C)
Basic Mission: Defend against an enemy force whilst waiting for reinforcements,
then wipe them out.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, enemies destroyed.
Extra Operations: No damaged parts, All allied units survive.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-WSG-2 (Weapon, Shotgun)
S Grade= RFZ-RJ-2 (Legs, Inverted)
Tips for S Rank: Right, first up, you are going to get swamped. And unless
you are very careful, you are going to run out of ammo. That’s the bad news...
The good news is, there's plenty to shoot at! It starts from the get go, with
the snipers. However, ignore the commander’s orders, and instead use COMBAS
tower C as cover to get close to the snipers, and take them out. Head back to
the ridge you started on, and begin taking out the enemy as it comes in. Keep
moving to lessen the damage you will take, and always keep the high ground.
When the reinforcements arrive, be careful, as not only can you not shot them,
but they don't mind shooting through you to get the enemy. Eh, the life of a
merc, eh? As before, keep mobile, and if you run out of missiles and cannon
shells, remember that at close range, two shotgun blasts are enough to fell a
Heavy Walker! Watch for the final two heavy walkers, who approach from
COMBAS C's direction, and more often than not, score an ally kill, ruining
your Ex Op, if you don't kill them quickly.
If you are having problems, you only really need a decent time and one of
the Ex Op's to bag the S, so decide when the reinforcements show up how you
are doing. If any parts are knackered, then go all out to defend your allies.
If you've only minor damage, it might be worth holding back a bit more, and
loosing one to get the S Rank.
Mission 06: Escort Survey Team 4 (Map: West Salma Woods, HOUND: RFZ-D18C)
Basic Mission: Escort the survey team back to base.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, enemies destroyed.
Extra Operations: All Escortees survive, no damaged parts.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-AAM-1 (Armour)
S Grade= RFZ-WRL-1 (Weapon, rocket)
Tips for S Rank: The real trick to getting the S is in taking care of the
enemy units quickly, as soon as they appear, so that you stay with the convoy
(which allows you to draw enemy fire for them, just make sure you don't lose a
part). Initially, stay on the road. The enemy will come to the road from the
left as squad of AT-ST's, then from the right, as a large squad of Hover
scouts. The next squad (AT-ST's again) come in from the left, and quite far
away initially. Do not be tempted to leave the convoy! Keep yourself between
the convoy and the enemy, and take your shots when you can. There is a final
group of Heavy walkers who shell the convoy from the right side of the road,
just as you clear the hill. As soon as you have dealt with them, you get a
message that the convoy has made it to the base, and you have to mop up the
remaining enemy forces, which are a mixed bag of Heavy walkers, AT-ST's, and
four snipers in the distance. Do your best to protect your allies, and make
sure you don't hit any white camo mechs!
Mission 07: Defend Eger (Map: Eger, HOUND:RFZ-D18C)
Basic Mission:
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, enemies destroyed.
Extra Operations: No damaged parts, Time Spent <5 minutes, Destroy transport
before (before) stop.
Rewards:
Any Grade: RFZ-WAL-2 (Weapon)
S Grade: RFZ-WMS-1 (Weapon, Missile)
Tips for S Rank: can be a bit tough. You only really need two of the three
Ex Ops, and there's no boss like in most other mission 7's, but you still face
a large enemy force. As soon as you get shot by the tanks, turn into the town,
take them and the two Heavy Walkers with them out, and proceed to the base.
take out anything attacking it, (If you get the man down message - in this
mission, you can loose them without penalty, but be aware that too many allied
dead will end the mission in failure for you!) and keep your ears open, as the
next two waves of attackers come in from A2 and E9 simultaneously. Wait for
them, don't go to them, and take them on as they get to the outskirts of town,
somewhere near D7 or D6 is a good spot. As soon as they are dealt with, a
train will pull in up at F6. Kill it as quickly as possible for the Ex op.
Oddly, much easier than some of the other Defender missions.

SCOUT RT MISSIONS (Medium) SCOURT
-------------------------------
Mission 01: Scout Training (Map: Rafzakael Test field, HOUND: RFZSt26W)
Basic Mission: As with all the first missions, this is simply a case of
following the directions given to you by the commander.
Extra Operations: No Mine Damage.
Evaluation Points from: Time Elapsed, Damage Taken, and COMBAS's Secured.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-HL-1 (Weapon)
S Grade= RFZ-ASD-M1 (Sensors, Mine Detector)
Tips for S rank:
Not too taxing. Be aware there is a glitch that will register excessive Leg
damage as mine damage; if the turrets whittle your legs down by 40%, you'll
fail the Ex Op. You are fast enough to dodge them, though, so keep moving,
keep shooting (good advice for any scout mission!). The most efficient way
to capture the COMBAS towers after you've dodged the mine field is COMBAS
tower C (D5), E (E6), B (C7 - watch for turret fire on this one), And then
lastly COMBAS A in B6, which is flanked by a couple of turrets.
Mission 02: Investigate Spy Unit (Map: Zavoywko Dam, HOUND: RFZSt66W)
Basic Mission: capture all the COMBAS towers on the map.
Extra Operations: No damaged parts, Secured all COMBAS's.
Evaluation points from: Time elapsed, Damage taken, COMABS's secured.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-GE-A2 (Weapon)
S Grade= RFZ-MC-2 (System Device, Speed Control and Booster)
Tips for S rank: Quite easy. The only enemies are turrets, apart from three
AT-ST you meet on the way to the final COMBAS. Just get from tower to tower
as quickly as possible, staying out of the water as much as you can. Always
use the time you are capturing the COMBAS to position your HOUND towards the
next tower. Don't worry about fighting at al on this level. It's unlikely
that you'll take anywhere near enough damage to ruin a part, just dodge
(always put a COMBAS between you and the enemy) and race, race, race!
Mission 03: Rescue Allied Forces (Map: Olensk Highlands, HOUND: RFZSt66W)
Basic Mission: Secure every COMBAS towers so your commander can find the
missing squad members. Don't engage the enemy.
Extra Operations: No damaged parts, never spotted by the enemy.
Evaluation Points from: Time elapsed, damage taken, COMBAS's secured.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-WLM-2 (Weapon, Land Mine)
S Grade= RFZ-AJM-1 (NA Jammer)
Tips for S Grade: Head first to COMBAS A (B1), for SF unit 4, getting COMBAS C
and B on the way. As soon as you capture B, head up to and behind the base in
B4 to avoid the enemy in E4 and B4. Then head to COMBAS D in E1 (don't try to
cross the river until you get the 'turn around' warning, or you'll slow down
too much), to find SE Unit 2. Skirt the cliffs to avoid the enemies here, and
grab COMBAS E before moving through the narrow canyon to your right. Keep
close to the cliff as you head down to COMBAS's H, and K to find SF Unit 1.
Hug this side of the river, until just after the base in I1, then cross it
and head for the base in I5 before going to COMBAS J, securing L and I
(both can be tricky, with a few enemies in sight of it) on the way. Be
careful of the enemies in F6. From J, hug the cliff to your right in order
to avoid the two enemies in E8, and capture COMBAS G, and sweep around, as
close to the cliff as possible, to capture F to finish.
Mission 04: Pursue Spy Unit (Map: Zavoywko Dam 2, HOUND: RFZSt66H)
Basic Mission: Act as bait to lure enemy patrols into an ambush.
Extra Operations: No damaged parts, destroy enemy HOUND <10 mins.
Evaluation Points from: Time elapsed, Damage taken, COMBAS's secured.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-WBD-1 (Weapon, Bomb Dispenser)
S Grade= RFZ-ASP-1 (Spacer)
Tips for S Grade: Nothing too tricky; It's probably best if you head straight
for B5 and destroy the two hover scouts that come down the mountain to the
West yourself. Then head back the way you came, but follow the river to the
right, for the next three hover scouts. Since you need to get the ball rolling
asap, keep on the river, and ignore the capture COMBAS order for now. A short
way in, at about F3, the enemy HOUND will spot you and give chase. You can't
take him on toe to toe (he's got 4 Machine guns and 3 ML!), so lead him back
to the ambush point at D5 before turning and helping to destroy him. Circle
strafe him to keep him inn the best position for the snipers, which is on the
little bit of land that the river bend around. Then head up to the COMBAS
tower C to take care of the 3 AT-ST's there to complete the mission.
Mission 05: Attack Enemy Supply Base (Map: West Bayazil River, HOUND: RFZSt66H)
Basic Mission:
Extra Operations: No damaged parts, all allied units survive.
Evaluation Points from: Time Elapsed, Damage taken, COMBAS's Secured.
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-WMT-1 (Weapon, Mortar)
S Grade= RFZ-HL-2 (Leg Part, Hover)
Tips for S Grade: This can be quite difficult. Easiest way is to sacrifice
your allies, Head for the COMBAS at D2 (don't capture it), before sweeping
around via COMBAS tower F, (take the light damage from the cliff fall), and
approach the base along the southernly most river, so you arrive at it from
I8. Take care of two of the three Heavy walker guards, keeping the last one
between you and the base so he helps you destroy it.
Alternatively, head straight for COMBAS E (D7). Then head straight for the
base in H8, taking out as many enemy along the way as possible. Any enemy you
manage to kill here will help with keeping your allies alive, (especially the
turrets) but it's a tricky balance as you really don't have much time for
this mission.
When you are destroying the base, use your machine guns for everything except
the two story concrete bunkers, which you should hit with small bombs as soon
as possible. And don't be anywhere near the six large cylinders in the South
Western corner when you blow them; they take out a quarter of the base all on
their own!
Mission 06: Attack Enemy Supply Base 2(Map:East Bayazil River, HOUND: RFZSt66H)
Basic Mission: Capture three COMBAS's, provide support flares for the snipers.
Extra Operations: No damaged parts, all allied units survive.
Evaluation Points from: Time elapsed, Damage taken and COMBAS's secured.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-WMG-2 (Weapon, Machine Gun)
S Grade= RFZ-WMT-2 (Weapon, Mortar)
Tips for S Grade: This mission is really easy, so long as you know where you
are going in advance, and get there asap. Don't capture the COMBAS's as
directed, in order (the commander numbers them), grab 1, then 3, then 2.
The first AT-ST walkers will appear in grid G6. Position yourself in grid G5,
on top of the hill, and wait until you see them. You don't have to wait for
the commanders orders to launch the flares. You can also help out by attacking,
but be sure to let the snipers get a few shots in first. As soon as they are
taken out, start heading for G3, and stop right on the very top of the hill
there. Over across the river in G1, the enemy squad will appear, so launch
flare slightly in front of them, wait for them to take a few hits. Then get
in there and finish them off. Be careful, as another four AT-ST come from G1
also. Get to grid H1, and as soon as the spotter sees them, launch a flare
in that direction, before charging in to help mop them up. The next squad
will be in grid G4. Follow the commander’s point to the river in G4, and when
you see them up on the road, launch the flare. Finish them off and immediately
head for G5, on top of the cliff. Face grid G6 and... You guessed it, launch a
flare when you see the enemy. Help to finish them off for quite an easy
(if perhaps a little overly long) S rank.
Mission 07: Attack Water Plant (Map: Birall Water Plant, HOUND: RFZSt66W)
Basic Mission: Lure the Water plant's security force away to the West.
Extra Operations: Destroyed enemy hound, no damage to Alexeli's ACV,
Enemy cmd destroyed.
Evaluation Points from: Time elapsed, damage taken, COMBAS's secured
Reward:
Any Grade= RFZ-ARC-1 (Assist Parts, Rotor Craft)
S Grade= RFZ-WMG-1 (Weapon, Machine gun)
Tips for S Rank: Pay attention to the Ex Op's. You can bag the S rank without
killing the enemy HOUND (by far the hardest part of the mission). You only
need to lure him away to finish, as so long as you've bagged the Commander,
the S rank will be yours.
From the start, head over the river, taking car of the turrets along the way.
just before the cliff begins, at E4, join the river, dodging the volley of
shot that will come from behind you. Through the canyon, and around the bend,
there will be a small squadron of tanks. Take them out, and head to the
riverbank at G2, where you will find the Enemy commander. Now across the way,
in E3 and that whole area, are quite a few Heavy walkers, AT-ST's and tanks.
If you are planning on taking out the enemy HOUND, I strongly suggest dealing
with these now, leaving it clear for later. If not, proceed to the COMBAS
tower J (H3). Capture it and get ready. Now, this is the hard bit. Actually,
if you can keep your nerve, it's not too hard. The base is defended by Heavy
walkers, AT-ST's and tanks, as well as the Black HOUND. In order to complete
the mission, you have to clear the base of it's defenders, and lead away the
HOUND. The most common cause of failure is missing a tank, and leading the
HOUND away, only to be shot to pieces because there's still a tank defending
the base. The tanks and heavy walkers won't leave the base, although you are
never told this. You have to kill them all, then lead the HOUND away to win.
The Black HOUND shows up in two situations: you have eliminated 50% of the
defending squad, or you have entered H5 or I5. Hang about near the COMBAS
and start shooting at the enemies you can see, as soon as you've killed a
few, dash towards the base (not getting too close), and the HOUND will appear.
Don't panic, just finish off the remaining defender’s, and then run as
zigzaggedly as you can manage to any point past H3, G3, or I3. The HOUND
will follow, and when he's far enough away, the mission finishes.
If you are planning on taking him down, do as above, but be sure to leave
one tank behind, then draw the HOUND to the ruined village in E2 and E3
that you cleared out earlier. His weapons are powerful, and without altering
the borrowed HOUND you are given, the fight will be long and hard. Use the
buildings for cover as much as possible, only popping out when you are 100%
you can hit him. You can try to kill the cockpit and nothing else, but I had
more luck taking out his legs, then strafing him, taking out his weapons,
the finally closing in for the kill. If you can time it right, on the way
over, drop some mini bombs for him to walk into (you may take lots of damage
for this, as he'll be quite close, but if you do it right, that ends the
fight there and then). It's not a pretty fight in the Scout HOUND you are
given, but it can be done, it just takes a long while. Once he's down, if
you allies have bagged the remaining tank, the mission will end. If not,
head over and get it for them. The spare machine gun you get for the S might
well come in handy. Er, or not!

HEAVY GUNNER RT MISSIONS (Hard) HEVGRT
-----------------------------------
Mission 01: (Map: Rafzakael Test Field, HOUND: RFZ-H27M)
Basic Mission: Follow the commander’s orders for the training mission.
Evaluation Points from: time elapsed, enemies destroyed, Average attack
distance
Extra Operations: Destroyed moving target
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-ML-1 (Leg Part, Myriapod)
S Grade= RFZ-AAM-2 (Assist, Armour)
Tips for S Rank: Most important: Do not do your homework without wearing
headphones *ahem*. Also, DON'T MOVE! If you leave square B4, you fail the
mission. For the first targets, (the buildings) they are anything from 400-600
away on the range finder. For a really fast time, Hit the nearest building
first, then let the kick-back naturally adjust your aim for the buildings
further away. The moving target, essential for the S, is best hit at a range
of 550-600, as soon as it clears the mountains in C4/5. Be aware it turns
really wide to get around the fence. The small units range from 400-650M away,
and the base is just a smidgen over 1000M (1035 to be exact), be sure to just
pepper the base, without re-checking your aim to much, to keep you time as
fast as possible. Recoil only affects altitude, it doesn't knock you aim left
or right. This mission can be very hard if you waste a lot of guess shots.
NOTE: The easiest way of gaining the S ranks on the following missions,
if you are really having a hard time with any of them, is simply to make
a Sniper HOUND, and complete the mission with it (you need to be a Sniper
to ensure you still get as many points as possible for the average attack
distance). I won't laugh at you, honest. It is slightly cheesy, but then,
these are hard missions. And hard missions demand hard cheese.
Double Gloucester, anyone?
Mission 02: Attack Armed Group (Map: Kara Bakir, HOUND:RFZ-H18M)
Basic Mission: Destroy the abandoned facility and the enemy occupiers.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, enemies destroyed, average attack distance.
Extra Operations: Time spend <5 mins, no damaged parts.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-GE-A3 (Generator)
S Grade= RFZ-RC-2 (System Device)
Tips for S Rank: Take out the enemies in F4 and F5, the range is about 400-600M,
start at 600M, and move closer if any make it through your salvo's. Then
simply move to F5, and bombard the settlement, Faulk will tell you when you've
done enough. One of the easier Gunner missions.
Mission 03: Attack Armed Group 2 (Map: Kara Bakir, HOUND: RFZ-H18M)
Basic Mission: Intercept many small enemies.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, enemies destroyed, average attack distance
Extra Operations: Halt enemy before C3 & E5, no damaged parts.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-WHW-2 (Weapon, Howitzer)
S Grade= RFZ-WHW-1 (Weapon, Howitzer)
Tips for S Rank: You will have three groups of enemy from the south, and two
from the west. The south group comprises four tanks, then two AT-ST's, and
three Snipers. The West group is five tanks, and five heavy walkers. Get into
a good, high vantage position, say the peak just on your right as the mission
starts, so you can see quite a way down both roads. Take out the enemy
advancing from the south, the tanks and then the AT-ST's. IGNORE your orders,
and then take out the tanks coming from the West (which grant's you the S rank)
before turning back to the south to get the snipers, and finally facing west
one final time to destroy the heavy walkers. You range will vary, depending on
where you position your self, but a decent rule of thumb is 700ish for the
south (puts your fire right on the bend) and 400is to the west, which places
your fire just south of the large cliff on the join of D2/3).
Mission 04: Assault armed group base (Map: , HOUND: RFZ-H27M)
Basic Mission: Attack and destroy an enemy base.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, enemies destroyed, average attack distance.
Extra Operations: All Allied units survive, No damage to Sara's ACV.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-ASP-2 (Spacer)
S Grade= RFZ-AAM-3 (Assist, Armour)
Tips for S Rank: You want hard? This one is! Start by bombarding the AT-ST's.
The range for all of them is either just under 600, or just over it, as long
as you don't move when you start. Then quickly get to the hill they occupied,
you won't need to move again for the rest of the mission. Start to take out
the battery cannons, which is easier said than done. There are six fixed
cannons, spread out through I3 to F7. Bear in mind on top of the hill as you
are, you are approximately on the same level as the turrets...
Once you've got the last one, help mop up the attacking squad, and be sure to
destroy the five snipers that come in from F3 to finish. The key to getting
the S rank is to alternate your attacks from taking out the wall cannons to
helping to defend your squad. It can get very difficult, especially with the
splash damage you get from several cannons at once throwing off your
aim *cough*Double Gloucester*cough*.
Mission 05: Pursue Armed Group (Map: North Durama Desert, HOUND: RFZ-H18M)
Basic Mission: Intercept and annihilate enemy force as they try to escape.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, enemies destroyed, average attack distance.
Extra Operations: Never hit any friendlies, All Allied Units survive.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-WHW-2 (Weapon, Howitzer)
S Grade= RFZ-ML-2 (Leg Part, Multi)
Tips for S Grade: One of the easier ones, you can just get really close before
wasting all of the first two groups. Stay in front of your allies to safeguard
the Ex Op's, and remember that damage to you doesn't count, so be as reckless
as you like (but don't loose your legs, eh?!). Just after the third group,
another, much smaller group approaches on the opposite side of the river.
take these out quickly to pretty much guarantee the S Rank. There are another
three squads back on your side of the river to finish off before it's back
home for medals, tea and cake. Spiffing, wot wot!
Mission 06: Pursue Armed Group 2 (Map: Dinar Plains, HOUND: RFZ-H18M)
Basic Mission: Use a surprise attack to wipe out the enmey and their fixed
battery defences.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, enemies destroyed, average attack distance.
Extra Operations: Force Enemy HOUND retreat, All Oil wells destroyed.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-AAM-1 (Armour)
S Grade= RFZ-WHW-1 (Weapon, Howitzer)
Tips for S Rank: Another tough one, I'm afraid. To get the S, you really need
to be quick, and destroy of the Black HOUND. Start by moving to the peak just
in front of you, and taking out the two gun emplacements (~1000m and ~920m,
fact fans). Help mop up the attackers (enemy in dark brown mechs), before
destroying the gas tanks (wait until all three Heavy walkers are all lined up
along them), then get ready to take on the HOUND. He appears on the distant
ridge in B9, and is around 900-1000M away from you. You have to be very quick,
or he goes away, and you mess up the Ex Op. Once he's shot once, he will move
around to the base of the mountain. You have to get finish him here quickly,
so you can clean up the remaining attackers (six AT-ST's) taking on your squad
in C4. Although the Allies can take damage, if you commander is destroyed,
it's mission over. try to leave one or two (hopefully heavily damaged) AT-ST's
so you can concentrate on the Cerberus HOUND. Be sure to also destroy the gas
tanks nestled at the base of the hill, just out of view in F7, to get both
Ex OP's.
Mission 07: Pursue Armed Group 3 (Map: North Cemo Oil Field, HOUND: RFZ-H18M)
Basic Mission: Locate and destroy the three enemy camps. "Collateral damage is
not an issue, there is absolutely no need to show any restraint" Boo-YAH!
Time to get it ON.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, Enemies destroyed, average attack distance.
Extra Operations: Oil wells and buildings destroyed, Never hit any friendlies,
all allied Units survive.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-WCN-1 (Weapon, Cannon)
S Grade= RFZ-WHC-1 (Weapon, Heavy Cannon)
Tips for S Rank: Could well be the hardest mission in the whole game.
Watch your shots, and judge it well, running out of ammo is a real possibility.
Wipe out the oil wells, not forgetting the those in G6, which are kind of
hidden behind the pipeline. Then move into the town and oil area you were
just bombarding, and take out the castle wall in D3 (stand on the last
crossroads in E4 and fire at 750-800M), as well as the six AT-ST's that
guard it. Do it quickly, so the AT-ST's don't return fire, and more
importantly, you don't hit your own troops. Then move on to the final
part of the mission, in the North East area, ensuring you leave no oil
wells standing where you are now. Then just follow your commanders orders,
and wipe them all out, buildings and all! Very difficult, but also enjoyable
when you get it right.

TACTICS COMMANDER RT MISSIONS (Hard) TACTRT
-------------------------------------------
Mission 01: Commander Training (Map: Rafzakael Test Field, HOUND: RFZ-C07C)
Basic Mission: Follow your commander’s orders.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, surviving allies.
Extra Operations: Time spent <10 mins.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-NM-1(NA Maker)
S Grade= RFZ-GE-C1 (Generator)
Squad Numbers 02 & 03: Hover Scout ACV's.
Tips for S rank: Pretty easy, really. You only have two units under your
command, so it's a gentle introduction. Straight away, order them to
ALL>ATTACK>GRID C6, and join in on the fun (actually, it's only a couple of
tanks. You can take them out before your instructor stops talking, but your
squad won't move until he does!). Once the two AT-ST's are taken care of,
Direct #01 to CAPTURE COMBAS A, and #02 to CAPTURE COMBAS B. You get COMBAS C
yourself, and take out the enemy there. Then order ALL>CAPTURE COMBAS D, and
follow them in for the final two enemies and a nice easy S.
NOTE: One of the RT types that deeply annoyed me. Not as much as Heavy Gunner
(Why can't you turn subtitles off? I want to see my range finder, not your
warbling!). Apart from the fact it's either 'all' or individual commands, my
main gripe is the way the game doesn't tell you who is in your squad. You
have to work it out, through trial and error, so almost every TC mission takes
at least two goes to get the S rank.
Have no fear, mind. Included in the details for the following missions is
a break down of which squad number has which ACV RT. I struggled through
re-plays (well, alright, only 4, 5 and 6) so you don't have to. Enjoy!
NOTE: It should be remembered that for the following missions, if Rahman's
Hover Scout ACV is destroyed, it's not only minus 100 points in some cases,
but also an automatic mission fail, so don't ever put him in a position where
he's outnumbered!
Mission 02: Training Unit Exercise (Map Bais Halayi Field, HOUND: RFZ-C07C)
Basic Mission: Take out the enemy team before they get away.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, surviving allies.
Extra Operations: Halt enemy before B3, E3, H3. All allied units survive.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-WL-1 (Legs Part, Wheeled)
S Grade= RFZ-CK-A1 (Cockpit)
Squad Numbers 01, 02, 03 = Hover Scout ACV's.
Squad Numbers 04 & 05 = Bipedal Soldier ACV's (AT-ST's)
Tips for S Rank: Nothing to hard. Get in the habit (or at least, I did) of
using the D-pad with your right thumb, so you can give orders, move and
shoot all at the same time! Send out two scouts to capture COMBAS's A and B.
Move yourself and both soldiers to COMBAS C, changing the order to
ALL>ATTACK>GRID C6 when the enemy pops up on scope. Then order a scout
to capture COMBAS D, and the other two to capture COMBAS's D and E. Move
the soldiers and yourself down to COMBAS H, and again, order
ALL>ATTACK>GRID H4 when the little red dots appear. Once they are all
mopped up, it's another easy S in the bag.
Mission 03: Training Unit Exercise 2 (Map: Bais Halayi Field, HOUND:RFZ-C07C)
Basic Mission: Find and destroy the enemy base.
Evaluation points: Time elapsed, damage taken, survivng allies.
Extra Operations: Secured all COMBAS's, All allied units survive.
Rewards:
Any Grade= RFZ-GE-A4 (Generator)
S Grade= RFZ-WLM-1 (Weapon, Land mines)
Squad Numbers: 01, 02, 03 = Hover Scout ACV's.
Squad Numbers: 04, 05 = Bipedal Soldier ACV's (AT-ST's)
Tips for S Rank: Gosh, which of the four could the base be? How ever will
you find it in just ten minutes? Eh, it's base 2. Sorry, did that spoil the
surprise? Don't go charging in, though, we want that S rank. There are two
large groups of enemies on the map, the first is at COMBAS B, so order
ALL>ATTACK COMBAS B, and get over there for the party. Get a single scout
over to COMBAS A as you go (#01, Rahman, is a good choice - keeps him out
of harms way) Now quickly order your remaining scouts to capture COMBAS's D, E
and F, whilst ordering the Soldiers to attack COMBAS G, which is where you
should head. Mop up the enemies, and start attacking the base, ordering all
to attack the base, except for a lone scout, who should capture COMBAS H
and then G as you hit the base. A bit more hairy that the last couple, but
still only moderate for a TC mission.
Mission 04: Pursue Enemy Attack Force (Map: Aydin Desert, HOUND: RFZ-C07C)
Basic Mission: Stop the Enemy from escaping.
Evaluation points: Time elapsed, damage taken, surviving allies.
Extra Operations: Secured all COMBAS's, Prevent entry into C5.
Rewards:
Any Grade: RFZ-WMG-1 (Weapon, Machine Gun)
S Grade: RFZ-NM-3 (NA Maker)
Squad Numbers 01 & 02 = Hover Scout ACV's
Squad Numbers 03, 04 & 05 = Sniper ACV's
Tips for S Rank:
It's no walk in the park, let me tell you. It's a tight, tight race to get
everything done, and you will need both the Ex Op's to get the S rank.
Since taking no damage is not one of the Ex Op's, the best bet is to get
your hands dirty. You start the map with COMBAS's L,K, and H, so that's
alright. First up, capture COMBAS M (watch the cliff!), then I, E, B and A.
Send your snipers (#03, 04 & 05) to capture COMBAS G, and the two
scouts #01 & 02 to capture COMBAS's F (02) and G (01). This bit is all
quite easy, but the next bit can be a timing nightmare. As soon as the
enemy appear on the map, send the scout at COMBAS F to capture COMBAS J.
Now it's just a case of getting to the road in grid C2 and helping the
Snipers clean up the five AT-ST's on the road. If your scout #02 finishes
capturing the tower before you finish off the enemy (who can't reach C5,
don't forget!), then S will seem easy and sweet. Might take two tries,
though! If you really struggle, Make a command HOUND with Hover legs,
for the speed boost, it'll help you get that leg work done early on.
Mission 05: HOUND recovery (Map: East Bayazil River, HOUND: RFZ-C07C)
Basic Mission: Wipe out all the enemy in the area.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, surviving allies.
Extra Operations: Own HOUND not damaged, All allied units survive.
Rewards:
Any Grade: RFZ-AFS-1 (Fuel Tank)
S Grade: RFZ-CL-1 (Legs, Tread)
Squad Numbers 01 & 02 = Hover Scout ACV's
Squad Numbers 03, 04, 05 = Sniper ACV's.
Tips for S Rank: Ok, now we're into the 'rock hard' territory. Or at least,
'mildly frustrating'. That 'No damage' Ex op means just that - not a nick on
the paint work of your HOUND, or it's failed. Welcome to back seat game play.
Luckily, you don't need to capture COMBAS's, and time isn't really an issue.
The easiest thing to do, is to order the Snipers as one unit, then, as they
get half/two thirds of the way there, order the scouts, so they get to a
location as a full squad, and can better deal with the enemy. The enemy are
in four locations, and it's best to deal with them in order: Those near
COMBAS G, then those near COMBAS A and BASE 1, before moving around to
COMBAS F, and mopping the final few up at BASE 3. It's not really hard to do,
just a bit fiddly. Keep the squad together, as suggested, and it's quite easy.
Be sure to pull out #01 if he complains he needs back up, it means he's
taking damage.
The only mission in the whole game where I didn't use the default HOUND to
play through to get the S. I traded it in for some Hover Legs and sniper
rifles; no way I'm missing the action!
Mission 06: HOUND Recovery 2 (Map: West Bayazil river, HOUND: RFZ-C07C)
Basic Mission: Assault and destroy the Enemy HQ.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, damage taken, surviving allies.
Extra Operations: All Allied units survive, No enemy left near HQ.
Rewards:
Any Grade = RFZ-WMT-3 (Weapon, Mortar)
S Grade = RFZ-ASD-S1 (Assist, Thermal Vision)
Tips for S Rank: Not very hard at all. Just order all to COMBAS F, and follow
them in, taking out all the enemy there. Next, order all to attack BASE 1, and
again, follow them in. concentrate on the ACV's around the base, and when you
are sure you've got them all, shoot out the large gas tanks next to the base to
finish it off. Just make sure you get to the base quickly, and prioritise your
targets - any enemy unit shooting an ally should be dealt with swiftly, so to
help get both the Ex Ops.
Mission 07: HOUND Recovery 3 (Map: Ruins, HOUND: RFZ-C07C)
Basic Mission: Search the area, destroying any enemy units you find.
Extra Operations: Time Spent <5 Minutes, Kept Rahman from heavy damage, Own
HOUND not damaged.
Rewards:
Any Grade = RFZ-NM-2 (NA Maker)
S Grade = RFZ-WCN-2 (Weapon, Cannon)
Squad Number 01 = Rahman, Hover scout. Will NOT follow orders for this mission.
Squad Number 02 = Hover Scout ACV
Squad Number 03 = Sniper ACV
Squad Numbers 04 & 05 = Bipedal Soldier ACV's.
You know what I'm going to say, don't you? Yeah, I ignore the 'own HOUND
not damaged' Ex Op. To be honest, if you get it, then you will more than likely
miss the <5 mins one, so it's really up to you. You only need two of the three
to get the S rank. The easiest way is this: Order ALL>ATTACK COMBAS F.
This is the location of the enemy hound, so get in there and save Rahman
from a pasting! Once the HOUND is down (very easy, just make sure you don't
hit your allies in the fight!), it's just a case of directing them to take
out the remaining enemies in G4, and that should pretty much be it.

Super Secret Final Mission FINLRT
--------------------------
FINAL MISSION (MAP: , HOUND)
Basic Mission: Find yourself placed in a hand basket, with 'to Satan,
666 lava street' as the address you are heading to.
Evaluation Points: Time elapsed, Damage taken, Enemies destroyed.
Extra Operations: No damaged parts, Destroyed Carlos's HOUND, Destroyed
Oscar's HOUND.
Rewards:
Any Grade = RFZ-CL-X (Leg part, tank tracks)

Tips for finishing the mission:
Tips for S Rank: Right at the start, ignore all the tanks, and head up towards
BASE #01. Go past it, tracking, anti clockwise, around the large mountain in
I2 -F3. There are three or four tanks to take out along here. In the
canyon/step valley on the far side, about half way in, you can see, amongst
the houses in the distance, Oscar’s HOUND. Start shooting to get his attention,
and then dodge his sniper shots as he closes in on you. Draw him back down
the valley, hitting him with alternate anti-HOUND rockets and Assault rifles,
and he should go down no problem. Unfortunately, right behind him is Carlos,
and he’s a git of the highest order. He has shotguns that he’ll pepper you
with at range, and the nasty experimental cannon to whack you with up close.
Draw him backwards, letting him have everything you’ve got. Cycle through all
your weapons, but keep calm and make those shots count! If you can get some
high ground on him, you’ve pretty much won, so long as you keep out of range
of his experimental weapon. You don’t get any reward for the third HOUND,
and this way, you never need to face him.
Not so much a difficulty curve as a difficulty wall, right at the end here!

Fellow Chromehounder Spear 2day's Tips for S rank:
The easy way is to build your own Hound with 4
machine guns grouped together and then as many anti hound canons or snipers
as you can carry with an NA.
Move forward destroying all the small mechs and head towards the enemy hounds
as soon as they start to move head back and around the righthand side of the
mountain past the Combas and up the small pass.
Take out the commander hound with your machine guns and then deal with the
other small mechs. Then turn your attention to the first of the other hounds
who should be following behind you, again machine guns alone can deal with
him but sniper or cannons work well before he gets to close.
Now the hard bit the last hound (leader) is the slowest so you should be able
to out pace him easily just keeping him at a distance and snipe or shoot him
repeatedly with the cannons, don't let him get close enough to launch the
rockets. It takes a few hits but you should find he'll go down fairly quickly
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fellow Chromehounder Gleeb sent in this suggestion:
HOUND Used:
LEGS : RFZ-ML-1 (Multilegged)
COCKPIT : RFZ-CK-A1
NA : RFZ-NM-2 (Placed on top of Mech)
GUN SET 1 : RFZ-WMG-2 (Machine guns, Extra Ammo)
GUN SET 2 : RFZ-WHT-2 (Rockets)
GENERATOR : RFZ-GE-B2 (It DOES fit, you need to rotate it)
Tactic Used:
Head North to H-5, Keeping close to the hill. You may get attacked, but at
this distance, they usually won't hit and won't follow, either. Head west,
around the mountain, making sure to eliminate anything you see on the NA.
This will reduce the amount of damage you take. As soon at the threat is
eliminated, walk through the valley, taking the high road through G-2. Watch
your NA, and stop moving when you see Carlos and Oliver moving. As soon as
you have contact, look for Carlos, the skinnier of the two HOUNDs. Start
retreating and pelt him with Machine Gun fire. It shouldn't take long to
kill him. Switch to your Rockets and take aim at Oliver, who should still
be a ways away. Keep him that way and just flatten him. You should have
more than enough ammo assuming that you used your Machine Guns to attack
the smaller targets.
Using the above HOUND and tactic combination worked in getting me an
S rank the first time I tried it this way.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phantom Doom, AKA Rayge didn't do the merry dance around the mountain:
Hey, I used your FAQ to help get a good few of my S Ranks, and thought
I'd add my two cents to the final mission (vs. Cerberus Squad) I did try
the "circle around the mountain" method, but in the end, it didn't help me
in the least. To finally beat it (with great ease I might add) I used the
following parts: Legs: 4-legged model #2 (the more defensive of the two)
Cockpit: the 2nd one (not the really light one, but the square-ish one
with one joint on either side)Generator: Third one from the bottom, if you
have them all (saves on weight)Weapons:2-3x Cannon (the more powerful
Anti-HOUND shell-shooter) set to fire HEAT rounds(CE Damage)4 Anti-HOUND
Spears (the 20-foot ranged spears.....quite powerful!)and the Sniper Cannon
(also set to fire HEAT rounds)(I may have had a regular rifle to deal
with tanks; depends on what weight allows) Alternate the sniper and reg.
Cannons from a distance and you'll deal Serious damage. If any of them get
near you, get in quickly and spear them. I've actually taken the
Soldier Cerberus down once using ONLY the 4 spears. if you can keep your
aim fairly good, you can actually take them both down before they get too
close.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nelson adds another variant way:
I was getting stuck on the last mission for like ever.. i used my
sniper/soldier and stood at the top of the hill behind the rock at the
side directly infront of the 3 black mechs. i take carlos out then the other
one just would never die.. well so i looked at your guide.. and well it
made me think of something really bright.. to borrow the stupid hound.. in
2 tries i got "s" completed on it.
I first killed the stupid tanks that were in the start area, then turned
left to go on the hill that the tanks were on.. from there i used the rifle
shots till carlos was in range of the 2 big cannons.. from there direct
hits from those and sprays from the rifle and rockets brought him down
quick.. and the same method goes for the leader. just stay on that hill
dodging their shots and when you have to reolad just move to the side so
they can't hit you. of course oscar keeps shooting at you.. but that
doesn't matter as long as you kill the leader before serious damage is delt.
I know the method doesn't sound like much.. but try it and i am sure it
will work..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Griff emailed to say:
Your walkthrough helped me out with some of the missions i was having
trouble with so i thought i'de share with you the easiest way to S rank
the final Mission. =)
Basically just build a soldier with 2 groups of 4 of the anti hound rockets
basically 2 of the ones with the hex frames and then 2 of the non framed
ones connected to those on each side, and just with those 2 groups of 4
alternate between the 2 groups and you'll tear through Carlos and Edgardo no
problem if you can do it fast enough

Credits and Thanks CREDNS
--------------------
Well, thanks to everyone who worked on making this excellent game everything
it is today, and thanks to the 360 for letting me take it online!
Special thanks must go to some people who really helped out and contributed to
this guide, though, and I wouldn't be the gentleman I am if I didn't name
them;
Attep, Kizmett, Spear 2day and Suicida all had a hand, however minor, in
adding information to this guide, and I thank them for the time they took
to do that.
Spear 2day, Gleeb, Phantom Doom (AKA Rayge), and Griff. All contributed to
the final secret mission, which had me stuck for a bit.
Thanks to them for getting in touch with their very varied ways of winning
that last valuable S rank. If you're featured here in this new version, and
don't want to be, please email me and I'll take you out.
I just thought it was best to include you, and interesting that you all had
a different take on that last pain in the arse mission.
*sniff* I'm welling up, which is a serious threat to my man-ness, so it's time
to go. I hope you got something out of this FAQ, I hope it made you play a
little better, or enjoy a previously frustrating rock hard bit. I hope you
got all those 'S' ranks, and I really truly hope you felt good about it when
you did.
I doubt this will be my last FAQ, but you never know, so just in case:
Be nice to each other, because we're all that we've got.
You've been fabulous, while I was only amazing.
And remember: When it's time to pay the bill, leave a little tip to help the
next poor sucker on his one way trip. Register your vote, kids.
Thank you, and goodnight, Frank, wherever you are.
