Game Reviews for The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles
Quick Reviews
The only reason I'm glad I spent money on this, is the achievements.
Apart from that, it wasn't worth it.
It took about 15 hours in all to complete. 14 of these hours were running.
You have to run from place to place FAR too much. To make matters worse, it's not like oblivion, where you simply run over the hills, theres huge amounts of trees, bugs and other annoying items you have to run round. Yes, my agility went up alot, but I'd rather be doing something better than running the length of the map. Not just that, but there was no real challenge involved. After about an hour, you have to kill a giant troll thing with an axe. About 5 shots of my ice spell (That I've had since level 1) and it was dead. The rest of the creatures were dead within a few shots too. I expected to find things that kill me in one hit after spending two hours running in circles through a cave, not annoying little goblins that do nothing but slow me down.
The loot wasn't too bad. I got about 25k's worth of stuff. Sheogoraths staff (Which, despite being the final weapon you get, is actually rubbish, why would I want to freeze my enemies, when I can't attack them when they are frozen? It's pointless) is worth 8200. Trouble is, nowhere will buy it for that price. I am yet to find a merchant who will buy it for more than about 2000.
Anyway, I'm blabbering on now. But yeah, it certainly wasn't worth the pricetag. I got the game of the year edition for 25, so it was cheaper than buying them seperately, but unless you get the GOTY edition, don't get this.
It's far too boring, there's too many caves to work through, and there's too much running.
6/10
This is a fantastic addition to the long list of astounding Xbox 360 games. The sound is great, although the music is a bit repeatitive. The graphics are simply amazing, probably the best of any game I've ever seen. If you get this game you will play it for a long time. It is a very good value for $50-60 you'll spend on it. The gameplay is flawless with great controls. This game is a must have for all serious gamers.
