Unlock 1570 - Battle of Anegawa:
Clear any regional scenarios.
Unlock 1582 - The Honnouji Incident:
Clear the 1560 Kawanakajima Scenario.
Unlock 1600 - Battle of Sekigahara:
Clear the 1582 Honnouji Scenario.

To unlock the following extra modes of play you must first successfully complete the corresponding tasks. These modes can be turned 'On' and 'Off' at the 'Game Settings' screen before a fight.
Unlock Annex:
During gameplay
unlock 100 Officers. Unlock Officer Death:
During gameplay unlock 50 weapons.
Unlock Officer Limit:
During gameplay unlock 50 Policy Cards.
Unlock Time Limit:
Clear Empire mode.

Using Oichi beat Musou mode
Unlock Date Masamune:
Using Saika Magoichi beat Musou mode
Unlock Hattori Hanzou:
Either using Fuuma Kotarou beat Musou Mode or have a saved game file from the original Samurai Warriors on your memory card.
Unlock Honda Tadakatsu:
Either using Tokugawa Ieyasu beat Musou mode or or have a saved game file from the original Samurai Warriors on your memory card.
Unlock Inahime:
Using Honda Tadakatsu beat Musou mode.
Unlock Maeda Keiji:
Using Naoe Kanetsugu beat Musou mode.
Unlock Miyamoto Musashi:
Unlock ALL other characters except Okuni and Ranmaru.
Unlock Mori Ranmaru:
Complete Mori Ranmaru's request on 1F, Akechi Mitsuhide's request on 11F, Akechi Mitsuhide's request on 21F and Mori Ranmaru's second request on 31F.
Unlock Naoe Kanetsugu:
Using Sanada Yukimura beat Musou mode.
Unlock Nene:
Using Toyotomi Hideyoshi beat Musou mode.
Unlock Nouhime:
Using Oda Nobunaga beat Musou mode.
Unlock Oda Nobunaga:
Using Saika Magoichi beat Musou mode.
Unlock Okuni:
Clear Sugoroku mode.
Unlock Saika Magoichi:
Using Akechi Mitsuhide beat Musou mode.
Unlock Shima Sakon:
Using Ishida Mitsunari beat Musou mode.
Unlock Shimazu Yoshihiro:
Using Tachibana Ginchiyo beat Musou mode.
Unlock Takeda Shingen:
Using Uesugi Kenshin beat Musou mode.
Unlock Toyotomi Hideyoshi:
Using Ishida Mitsunari beat Musou mode
Unlock Uesugi Kenshin:
Either using Naoe Kanetsugu clear Musou mode or have a saved game file from the original Samurai Warriors on your memory card.
Unlocking Hell Difficulty:
Using Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu beat Musou mode.
