Isn't the point glitch the same thing as boosting because I heard that if you boost to the rank of elite you don't get and achievemen. it just sounds like the same.

Points glitch, boosting whatever you like to call it, it gets you to Elite, and you do get the achievement, me and many friends have done this, I got bored on Major Rank, so I glitched my way to the top.
