IT WONT WORK :(

So I got my female and male dog, I have made them mates, and when ever I select the "try for puppies" option it just says "woohoo" and when they have finished their buissness the male will go to sleep and the female will go and do what she wants, there is NO noise, or no pop-up that says: " your sim is pregnant" or anything like that, but when I try it again the same thing happens, can somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong or why it is not working
