I have only just joined Sims 3 and I can't get my dog inside. It

I have only just joined Sims 3 and I can't get my dog inside. Its an adult one so don't tell me to pick it up! She. I click on it, it only says relocate(move to a different house) adoption(get rid of it) or rename but I really want it inside. HELP.
