Question for The Sims 3 Pets

I went to the grocery and the bookstore and now I can't figure out how to access the items I bought.

The food from the grocery store is in the fridge. When you click on the fridge go down to "open" and there it is. But you just make meals with it for free instead now. The little rubber ducks and not food are in your household inventory. Go to build/buy mode (the one right of to the town map (when you press the little button that looks like a backwards start button on the left side)) and in the catalog (first thing when you get to build/buy) go down two to household inventory, it should be there! Your books will be in your backpack. Click on your sim and scroll down to "Inventory" and they should be there. If not then household inventory. (BTW storage and fridge can also be accessed through build/buy mode> household inventory, and clicking the left and right buttons on the very top of your controller. (not the big curvy ones on the outside. The little ones more towards you))
