How do I have multiple sim families?

Ok I'm sure you guys have already answered this question but bare with me I'm a bit slow to understand. I have made one sim family with the maximum number of 6 sims, how do move one sim out to another home without making the WHOLE family move or get deleted? Not sure if I asked it clear enough.

When you buy another house / or use the MOVE option on the phone - you get prompted to select the Sims that will be moving to the new home. You simply pick the one(s) you want to move and leave the others behind.
