Go to you're sim and click on them then go to inventory if you have a gem or metal or rock or ghost or wutever you have that is related to that you click on it and go down until you see the words sell and it will have two small orange circles next to those words. It just means that you don't have to put it as a task for you're sim. Click on the words sell for however much money it is.
