What I would suggest doing if your new to the game or your just bored of doing missions and always dieing on missions I would suggest starting over and after the dragon attacks Helgen you can either follow the Imperial or follow the Stormcloak and once you have done that make sure you have a one handed weapon and once you have reached the point where the guide follows you and prefers to to either attack the bear or sneak past it instead of doing either of them attack the guide and he cannot die neither hurt you back therefore increasing your one handed skill and to level you up at a quicker rate
